+1 Definitely worth checking out, I saved a fortune by just adding "outside the home" to my contents insurance.

  2.
Ditto on the P.Turner interview, I like his views on 5 string basses. He could be onto something.
+1, just as I was thinking of getting a 5 again PT stops GAS in its tracks (fro the time being anyway).

  3.
1 Are the new 09's worth the money?

2 should i look for a custom shop model?

3 What about a proper vintage bass? 60's/70's?
1 The new US models seem to get a lot of love, especially on Talkbass, so the answer is probably yes.

2 Given you're coming from Sadowsky, this would seem to be a very sensible way forward

3 Very expensive and you've got to find a good one, so could be a long haul.

On the Road Worn issue, users seem to rate the Jazz very highly I certainly like my RW precision very much, definitely worth a demo FWIW IMO

  4. I've got an EBS Unichorus, it does the classic chorus sound really well plus it has pitch modulation and flanger too. This pedal has never been off my pedal board since I got it.

  5.
Knew there had to be a fundamental flaw somewhere else you would already be able buy such a thing!
Better move on to my next inventive idea, I'll get one that works eventually!
Yep I asked the same question some time ago and got the same answer, in short no extra speaker, no extra power. I ended getting a 2x12 4ohm cab.

  6.
What a shame, a real talent in the bass world comes to basschat and bins us because of idiots taking petty shots.

I feel ashamed on their behalf.

+1 As ever it is the few who spoil it for the rest of us. Access on the forums to those who actually make a living from music is useful for everyone, unfortunately they won't come visit if certain people (you know who you are) just decide that it's an opportunity to pedal bile.

FWIW BGM is still the best all round bass mag available to us IMO. (How many abbreviations?)

  7. For some reason I seem to be having Sadowsky GAS just recently (probably 'cos they're the dogs dangly bits) but no way can I afford one right now. So as I mainly use passive P basses I'm thinking Sad's little black box maybe the way to go to sate my cravings. So if you've got one, or had one, what has been you experience and your opinon of them? Thanks in advance for any advice.

  8.
I didn't lubricate the spacer, only the tip of the lever.

What it best to lubricate with? LOL never even heard of lithium grease!!??
Vaseline does a brilliant job.

  9. Up until recently it was Chorus, Octave & Compressor. A change of amp lost me the octave (I'll be replacing with a pedal soon though) and I just stopped using the compressor. I've also got an MXR M88 dist/DI box, but that's only there for amp failure these days, I think I might replace that with a Sadowsky preamp/DI, but man they are not cheap.

  10.
Oh, and a +1 to whoever suggested Bruce Thomas.
That was me. I was also thinking an interview with Pino wouldn't go a miss. I think what BGM also needs to do is address some thorny issues that definitely get people going on the forums to make it a bit edgy. The Road Worn series certainly got people hot under the collar, so a review of them would be interesting. I also think the Hometown Heroes needs to be resurrected, but that will require effort from the reader base. Another of the features that I enjoyed from back in the day was the ongoing customisation piece where they upgraded a MIM J bass to within an inch of its life, a lot of us dabble with customisation so a revisit with a different donor would be interesting. A more broad price point for reviews seems to be what people want here and +1 to that, certainly on basses.

  11.
Outstanding. Totally love that, pricey though no?
Oh yes a little bit more than a Pino. You gotta love a wife who asks "would it be a good investment?" and then says "you should get it". I bought it 'cos it's just awesome, the investment side keeps the wife happy. Win/win :)

(Unless you're talking about the Pino of course)

  12. Beautiful score there. I've not heard a bad word about the Pino from those who have actually played one. "It speaks to me, inspires me, and I've fallen for it in a big way". I know just what you mean, the same happened to me when I picked up a wreck of a '63 P last year.

  13. I play in a covers band doing everything from reggae to pop to soul to rock. To be honest I could the entire gig without any effects, but I do use a chorus pedal to accentuate certain bass parts (the begining of Stevie Wonder's I Wish for example). Unless you're in a tribute band where slavish reproduction is order of the day, I think you can do completely without effects (unless you're an FX junkie of course), the only caveat to this is if a particular bass effect is the main focus of the song. and there's not too many of them really.

  14. Another wee update on what has become a Road Worn Custom. As much as I like what I've done to it electronically I've always thought there was something a bit off visually. Thanks to a couple of other BCers posting pictures of their sunburst and maple Ps I worked out what it was, the pick guard. My p/up config does seem to shout RAWK (although I use it for everything) and surely there is nothing more RAWK than black. So a quick call to Allparts and Robert is your Mother's Brother.................

  15.
Lol :)

Good attitude. I bet Norman was really nice and accomodating too as I understand he is a really nice bloke on top of being an awesome player. He doesn't photograph well, but man can he play. A great bass moment and memory for you Z.
