Yeah it's weird for sure. Page selector missing from the bottom of page lists and not full pages, only "The Local" displayed at he opening page, strange boxes appearing on random thread titles. As I said, weird.

I thought that said Bum him.

Literally shaking and squeaking with laughter at this -
smacking the head of the bass when going through ornery people-size doorways.
Been there, done that. The way it pulls your upper body back through the door must look quite comical to others, especially when you've got both hands full of other bass gear that then swings back through the door too. -
That set up looks very cool indeed and from your description it obviously sounds great too. Congrats.

Burn him, for he is a witch!

Nice score. I'm so used to seeing Dingwalls as fivers this one looks odd (or should that be more odd) I've played DWs and they are very nice basses indeed and Sheldon Dingwall is a very nice chap too who'll happily chat about his instruments with anyone with a even just a passing interest in them. Congrats.

I reckon the semi hard ones are the way forward, like the Sadowsky one or the Pro Racket one I just picked up. Mine has movable pads to secure the bass so it doesn't move, then the polywhatever has a massive amount of crumple space if an accident were to happen. A bit bigger than a padded gigbag, but obviously more sturdy and possibly also more than a conventuals hard case too. Not cheap though.

Lakland, Sandberg and Sadowsky on the instrument side spring to mind. EA, Genz Benz, Phil Jones and Aguilar on the amp side.

Although I have listened to LG before many times that's the first time I've seen him play. How very different his style of slapping and popping seems to be in execution. Although he is the guy credited with 'inventing' the style, I've never seen anyone else play using that slap technique, or seen it discussed in magazines. It looked very different to what is regarded as standard slap technique (well to me at least). Didn't lessen my enjoyment however.
Oh and yes the goose neck seemed silly and appeared to be held on with tape. Looked ridiculously inefficient and somewhat pointless. -

So are they Elites or Rotosounds? -
Last night's gig was simply amazing. Only our 3rd outing (2nd proper full on gig) and it's really coming together. Home at 2 this morning zzzz.

I'm in a band that was only formed earlier this year. It includes a collection of people that I have played in in other bands over a number of years. It started well, but as it was a new project we were finding our purpose. It started as a vehicle for twin harmony lead guitars but has morphed into an 80s covers band. Because of this there has been some changes in personnel, none of it acrimonious, just some of the early members deciding they couldn't commit as much as they would have liked or that the new direction wasn't really for them. Everyone was really grown up about about it (as it should have been as none of us are spring chickens) with no throwing of toys out of prams or arguments. The nett result is we now have a great band of like minded individuals who seem to inspire each other to new levels of playing and even taking on roles we'd never done before (we all sing lead on at least one song each, definitely a new one for me). Our lead singer, occasional rhythm guitar player and keytar player (80s tastic!) is amazing and she is the most fantastic front person, just super talented. She just buoys everybody with her enthusiasm, you can't help but get right into it, I've moved from standing at the back to being at the front and engaging in repartee with her. I've been in bands for 40 years or so and this is without doubt the best band I've ever been in, super talented people who are also good friends into the bargain who never fail to compliment each other on each other's talents. Super happy with my band.
Oh as an aside they are all Gasaholics too, not financially helpful but great fun!

You want BC to talk you out of GAS? Seems unlikely. IME the higher you go up the Ibby range, the more solid they feel. My GWB35 feels way more solid than my SR505 and I can only imagine this increases as you up the quality/price tag quotient.

A thread that might help here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/190818-mono-cases-m80-dual-bass-case/page__fromsearch__1

Yeah the MM pickup on a 'Berg acts more like a really beefy J pickup. The P tone is spot on but if you feel like you're getting lost in the mix a bit, add a little bridge MM and you're sorted.

I'm sorry I saw the thread title and had a flashback to my childhood. Popamatic dice shaker, moulded plastic playing board.......
Back OT everyone wants to nail the pace first time, but going slow to 'clean' and fast is a tried and tested method. Walk before you run and all that. Stick with it, you've come this far after all. -
Sweet! A little nerve wracking (it would be for me a least) but a nice one for the CV, congrats.

Started on 4 then got a 5 and played that fairly exclusively. But then I went back to 4s only for a long time. Just this year I got a fretless 5 and as an extension of that recently picked a fretted 5. Live I'll stick to 5s in my current band situation, but if I was recording I'd probably use the 4 stringers.

I played one of these many years ago and seem to remember it being ok at the time. It belonged to my bass tutor, who was very good, and this was the bass he used to demonstrate things to his pupils on. One trick pony? Depends on your view of P basses really, the lack of a tone control limits it a little certainly, but there are ways around that if you prefer to have one.

That's very good news, way to go Hipshot, top service!

A very cool thing indeed, nice work.

I like me some P (check my sig) but that didn't do it for me, a typical Later mix devoid of anything musically discernible in the low end I thought . I was about to dismiss it as that until the next act, Trey Songz, came on. Now that was a bass tone that made my ears prick up, really nice. YMMV. I think it was an MTD through a GK rig. Now this brings into question whether Soundgarden were badly mixed or whether it was just a poor tonal choice by them to start with?

Are you getting power to the pre amp?
Is the output jack wired correctly?
Just a couple of ideas. -
If you were going continually from Florida to NY state (or other geographical extremes) then you might have problems with the vast changes in humidity, etc, it's not really going to be a problem here so much. However, when I stripped the neck of my MM SUB and Fender Roadworn P (both were too sticky for me) I did apply a couple of coats of Danish Oil which I then knocked back with 0000 steel wool just to be safe.

Also while lots of storage space in the bag is a good idea in principle, in practice it's going to make what is already a heavy bag plus 2 basses even heavier. It would have to be fantastically comfortable to wear and I'd want to try it full of all the stuff I intended to put in it before parting with any money.

Having played both of those editions I know that you'll be very happy and as they're so well priced your wallet won't be too thin either. 2 good scores there.
