1. Chrome Fat Finger for sale, barely used, only tested at home (part of bass purchase deal). The blurb says "Increases sustain by adding physical mass to the headstock of the instrument. Works on electric and acoustic instruments. Installs in seconds without tools. Will not damage your instrument. Adds tone, sustain, and overall tone balance. Fatfinger for bass is 20% heavier than guitar model. Helps tune out dead spots. Guitar model is 3.2 ounces, bass model is 3.8 ounces."

    £17.50 inc p&p (best web price £29.95)

  2.
Hello, will these fit on my Squier Vintage Modified Precision? I'm useless at string gauges, I think these are a bit lighter than my current roundwounds that came with it, will I get that P thump out of them or should I get a heavier gauge?

    Cheers!
Yes they will fit, yes they will thump compared to your roundwounds.

  3. I'm selling my EBS Multicomp. It's boxed and in very good condition with just a little of the foam backing pulled by removing a velcro strip and a couple of tiny scratches. £80.00 plus £5.00 for p&p.

  4.
Yours looks like it's been to church with Cliff Richard a couple of times :)
LOL. I know, give it time. I will say that the action on the Hipshot is soooo much nicer than the original ones on the Road Worn, which are a bit stiff.

£110 for the p/up, pot, knob and fitting. I did the D Tuner myself.

  6.
I'm curious why you went for a P pup there rather than a J .. Does it sound very different?
I have found with a P/J set up that the J p/up is either on or off with noreal blend to speak of. I guess this is down to the power of the P p/up. However, with the P/P config I can hear 3 different blend options on each p/up not including off and the bridge p/up isn't a nasal as J p/up, as you'd expect.

I was going to but bottled it, got The Bass Centre on the case instead. Did it really quickly and cheaply. Rehearsal tonight, really looking forward to using it anger.

  8.
I have always been curious about doing this. One day i probably will.

Looks a real good job, did you do it yourself?

Not a huge relic'd fan, but i bet that thing has nuts.
I was going to do it myself, but chickened out at the last minute. I had The Bass Centre do it and it was at a very reasonable price too.

    Nuts? OH YEAH!

  9.
Great looking bass! What's the Roadworn like against US or CIJ's?
Short answer is I don't know, but I did demo it side by side with the MIM 50s reissue and a more expensive Lakland Bob Glaub Skyline, to my hands and ears the RW felt and sounded more like home to me. The looks are a debatable point dependant on preference, but as my '63 is beaten to hell I'm OK with the looks.
Shame it's got so many dings and scratches on it, though. I'd ask for my money back.
This made me :) :D ;)

  10. I bought a new Road Worn a few weeks back. This bass was bought with the intention and for the purpose of having a P bass but with another P p/up ( I have a '63 P and no way was I going to cut into that!!). Here is the newly modded bass in the flesh with the Seymour Duncan vintage added, I also added a Hipshot D Tuner for the full on custom bass. My favourite sound is neck p/up full on, bridge at about 95% (about 30 degrees off full turn) which just adds that little bit of definition. Full on it's a Jazzish bass sound, but with more balls, just what I wanted. I'll still mainly use it with just the neck p/up, but when I need that extra zing I've got it there.

Hmm that D tuner is a bit shiny by comparison.

    Banjo??

    Sax???

Sorry you're going to have to give me a clue here......
I see what you've done there, you've taken "guess what I played" and made it into.........

    Made me smile :)

What's the definition of a gentleman? One who can play the banjo, but doesn't.

PS There were definitely no prizes for guessing the tune played on the heavily nicotine stained instrument.

  12.
The Guitarist transcription was wrong, as was the Bassist transcription.
No surprises there really, I know that the positions are not what Norman plays as he leaps around the neck like a mad thing rather than try and stay in one position. I play i) what sounds right to me using that tab as the original guide and ii) what I can actually manage for the entire song :)

  13. I have the original bass line music/tab from the single done by Guitarist mag in Spring 2001, but the last time I saw Norman playing "Stick" he doesn't play it that way anymore, specifically he now plays a simpler, less busy version of the chorus that makes it more punchy. Great song, great workout.
