I'm pretty sure a BCer is selling their LPB RBV right now. If your up for a little P/J action then Overwater have this reduced down to £1295 (I have bad GAS for this myself).

  2.
That would make a great t-shirt actually! If you manage to find one for sale, please let me know as I'd be interested in buying one too for kicks!

Yeah that is very cool, I'd be up for one of those.

  3. I had the Boss one many years ago, but eventually got the EB. The investment in the better pedal is well worth it, both from a performance, reliability and resale standpoint.

  4. FREE!! You lucky swine:) My first bass back in '84ish was a BB30, I swapped it with a friend for a Westone Thunder III which I defretted. My friend still has the Yammy, the Westone has long gone. Give the pots a good clean out with some switch cleaner.

  5.
I've been looking at the EBS Multi-comp so if anyone can give me advice on that one too, that would be great.
Very good compressor as you can set the high and low comp rates separately via the internal trim pots for use in multiband mode. Plus you've got the other 2 settings making this a very versatile piece of kit. Great with active basses especially.

  6. The Korg AX3000G can be had for about £165 and their multi FX are pretty damn good. However, I have to agree with Dood and say that individual FX are the way to go. I used to own a top of the range Digitech multi back in the day, but the best set up I ever had was individual FX which included a Fulltone Fulldrive2 and Line6 DL4 unfortunately the price of those 2 alone was £450! The best thing about individual FX is that you can change/upgrade specific parts of your FX chain as your needs change, not possible with a multi unit. Another bug bear with multi FX is that the presets are designed to sound great in shops, but are pretty much all way over the top for real world use, which means huge amounts of reprogramming only to discover you probably only need 2 or 3 patches really with very basic FX.

  7.
Most players "mess up" simple songs because they're thinking about the notes and don't get the groove/feel right. Hence all the bass players that don't like 1,5,1,5 numbers, also I've never heard anyone cover Superstition properly.
Although I have a problem with Walk Of Life, I'm absolutely OK with Lay Down Sally, possibly because I'm singing backing on it and don't think it's a cheesy as WOL. Superstition is one of my favourites in our set, as is I Wish.

  8. Not me, but it did happen to friend of mine. He's a huge Billy Cobham fan and went to see him at the Jazz Cafe in Camden, problem was he took the wife. Whilst having their meal upstairs overlooking the stage, Billy Cobham passes by on his way to the dressing room only to have my mate's wife accost him and say "My husband is your biggest fan". He say's the earth couldn't open up and swallow him quickly enough.

  9. I was in the Bass Cellar the other day, I was the only customer at the time. What were the staff doing? Staring out the window at nothing whilst I waited patiently at the counter. If I hadn't said anything I reckon I'd still be there now! So as far as I can see nothing has changed there, it's still the same crap service and badly informed comments (a difference of opinion on neck widths, where they were so far off base it was unreal, apparently all 5's are the same width, really?). Conversely I was in The Gallery a couple of days later and was treated very well as usual and had to drag myself away to get some work done, whereas I could hardly wait to leave the Bass Cellar.

  10. I think that with any instrument you buy it is a case of diminishing returns, so no it won't be twice as good, it'll certainly be better and made of better components with more attention to detail, but the only thing that will be twice as much will be the price, and possibly our expectations :)

  11.
Only downside is that if you're after a jazz profile neck, look elsewhere. The Sadowskys are a little thicker(fingers to thumb) than the norm. More like a modern Fender US Precision neck.
Really? Now that is bad news for my GAS as I've ignored Sads as I'm not a J neck lover and much prefer Ps.

  12. I'm not saying you shouldn't try not to "double finger" but bear in mind that electric bass guitar is still a very modern instrument and who is to say what is right and what is wrong? Jamerson only used one finger the pluck, which could be construed as "wrong" or at least inefficient, but to have changed this style of playing would have altered his style and possibly robbed us of some awesome bass lines. I'm just saying be careful of fundamentally altering you style of playing, unless it really bothers you of course.

  13. Me: Hi my name's Chris and I'm a GASoholic
    BC: Hi Chris

No matter how "sorted" I am bass wise, there is always something new I suddenly have a longing for. Problem is it is often something that I have had in the past and have sold to finance the latest wave of GAS or at least very similar. I know it drives Mrs Ezbass up the wall. Case in point, I discover a huge affection for P basses, nothing wrong there, then I realise that I want a P bass with something in the bridge, no problem buy new P and fit additonal P in bridge position, sorted. Well apparently not as I now have the hankering for something with a P bass width neck (at least I'm consistent there), but with 5 strings and nice and shiny (my current basses are quite worn and tatty). This would be understandable until you realise that I used to have a lovely 5 string 'Ray in teal (my fave colour). No doubt this wave of GAS will pass or be sated, either way I will no doubt offload something in the future and then miss it terribly after a year or so. At least I don't have amp GAS, although an Aguilar 750 and 6x10 cab would be nice............... quick nurse bring the sedatives!

No where's the GAS equivalent of coffee and doughnuts at the back of the meeting hall?
