  1. Diggin' My Potatoes - Lonnie Donegan
  2. I remember the first time I heard a band of pipers approaching in an outdoor setting; just amazing. However, just like poor intonation on a violin, a badly played/tuned set of pipes is a horrible, horrible thing.
  3. Animal - Def Leppard
  4. You’re not alone, other than My Baby Just Cares For Me (great bass line), she’s not for me either. My personal unpopular opinion concerns certain bands from the ‘60s, again not for me. However, when I express these opinions, folk (of a certain age) really get bent out shape and start telling me how I’m wrong. I’m not, it’s my opinion about an art form, it’s one of the few opinions a person is really allowed to have, as it is neither right nor wrong, it’s about art and it’s personal. To be clear, I’m very aware of how these bands changed popular music and culture and I don’t dispute that at all, in fact, I grew up in the ‘60s, so I was there when it was happening. I just don’t think these band’s output was all solid gold and it hasn’t aged well - in my (unpopular) opinion.

  6. Stuck On You - Lionel Rich Tea
  7. Elmo’s Song - Elmo
  8. Really looking forward to your analysis of the truss rod, as this isn’t the first Maruszczyk rod we’ve heard of with issues. Do I have a vested interest? Oh yes, I own 2 custom built Maruszczyks.
  9. I Want It All - Queen
  10. Breakdown - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
  11. Prince Charming - Adam & Co
  12. Charlie Brown - The Drifters
  13. Man Who Sold The World - Bowie
  14. Needle and the Spoon - Lynyrd Skynyrd
  15. Stone Cold Crazy - Queen
  16. As a regular Radio Scotland listener between 6 and 8, I stuck around for Vic’s show. I enjoyed it, even though for the most part it featured bands that I’m not particularly well acquainted with (although I am aware of them) and look forward to him doing a follow up, which he seemed keen on doing (maybe Pino might get a mention in connection with D’Angelo in that episode, as that genre seems to fit the show’s general remit). Tina Weymouth getting played on 3 tracks was an absolute bonus. Only one part of it all irritated me, it was when Hooky described Joy Division and New Order as world changing; man alive, he needs to get over himself. All in all, definitely worth a listen, if only for Vic’s overall enthusiasm.
  17. Crash and Burn - Thomas Rhett
  18. Nice to see that the Sterling support team are on the ball (no pun intended).
  19. I tried some D’Addario rounds on mine, they were OK, but not as nice as the EB Cobalts that I have on it at the moment.
  20. There Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens - Louis Jordan
  21. White Line Fever - Mötorhead
  22. If you don’t have a preference, the above is the best advice. Your luthier may have a brand they like to work with and all you need to decide is if you want lightweight or not. Looks aside, any premium tuner should have a quality feeling, precise action. FWIW, 4 of my 5 basses have Hipshots, the other has Wilkinson, Hipshot clones. They’re not all by design, but I have had dealings with Hipshot directly too and have found them to be consistently customer focussed with fantastic service and advice.
  23. Someone here will certainly be able to advise you, but I have always found DiMarzio to have fantastic after sales service, maybe drop them a line.
  24. It allows you concentrate on what your playing rather fiddling with the controls.* *If you have the ‘right’ capacitor fitted, you can have more than just than an on or off tone control. Breeds some fiddling, however.
  25. More build threads to follow, goodo!
