  1. London Calling - The Clash
  2. I found myself at loggerheads with the band leaders of 2 bands. The smart thing was to leave. I’m still friends with one and have played with him on a one off basis since, the other still continues to be a tool according to other musicians of my acquaintance who have had the misfortune to work with him. I was very lucky in my last band, in that we really enjoyed each other’s company off stage too.
  3. I think I can speak for a good number of here and request more details as to this mystery bass, pictures even.
  4. Sharp corners to the pick guard for me. I had a Maruszczyk Jake and the rounded part of the PG by the jack socket just grated.
  5. I feel a sub thread coming on - I Hate Playing in a Band.* *Been there - I quit.
  6. Rock Lobster - B52s
  7. Looking for Linda - Hue & Cry
  8. Liar - Queen Waits for someone to add a track from Who’s Next.
  9. That wasn't my point and I think you know that . Some folk are happy to just play along to tunes at home, record, loop, whatever. This person is not me, I like to gig, some of the ancillary stuff is a PITA but, ultimately, worth it. Other folk find differently.
  10. Slippery People - Talking Heads
  11. Plays along with themselves.
  12. Funnily enough, I was just looking at my electric guitars (yes, I know ) and I could easily just have one of those, my Tele. The same goes for acoustic, I think a slope shouldered Dreadnought would be the one (I don’t have one - yet). Perhaps it’s an enthusiasm thing? I play much more bass, therefore, I’m more concerned with the nuances of said beast/s.
  13. Left both of my basses in a pub but, fortunately, realised before I’d got too far. Left my pedal board in another, fortunately (again), the guys in the band picked it up for me.
  14. To answer the question - no. Would I like to be able to have just one? Not sure. If I were in a band where the genre/songs and band composition were able to be covered by just one bass, then it’d be viable, although that does leave you open to gear failure, with no backup (I know some folk do this and I have myself, but it’s a risk). I think it’s worthwhile having one bass that you really know very well, your go to. However, knowing that bass throughout should also make you aware of its limitations and this is where others that fill that gap come in (fretless for instance). All the above should also be studiously ignored as, since moving 500+ miles, I have no band, no prospects and 5 basses not doing a whole lot at all (I’ve even bought 2 since the move - I need help) other than playing for my own pleasure.
  15. You Can Do Magic - Limme & the Family Cookin’
  16. Why not try something affordable to see if it’s a viable prospect? I’ve had my eye on this, but I really don’t ‘need’ it. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/px220205380992006--squier-2014-fretless-vintage-modified-precision-bass-3-colour
  17. Leaning my bass against the seat of my computer chair, forgetting that it’s a swivel chair and watching as it turns and sends the instrument hurtling towards the ground. I’d like to say I’ve only done this once, but, er, well, you know how it is.
  18. King of Wishful Thinking - Go West
  19. Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band
  20. I saw that too, crazy pricing.
  21. £206 inc shipping! Strewth!
  22. Loving your fretless vibe.
  23. A higher action limits the amount of mwah, as does a technique that avoids too many slides and vibrato.
  24. Geek Stink Breath - Green Day
  25. Just rewired the footswitch on my EBS Unichorus as it was intermittent. Good as new. Result! Now, what can I buy with the money I’ve saved on a new chorus pedal?
