It seems to me that posters are comparing todays definitions of what was made up as Heavy Metal back in the early seventies to todays so called Heavy Metal. I don't know your ages ,but i can vouch for Deep Purple definitely being described as an Heavy Metal band back then. The term "Heavy Metal" was coined in the West Midlands due mainly to bands like Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest., so Toni Iommi, Rob Halford of Judas Priest modelled their playing styles on the industrial factories who were churning out Metal castings and pressings that were exported all over the industrialised world, Hence the term Heavy Metal being coined Their inspiration came from this fact.

Anyone who thinks the Beatles are no longer in Vogue because of the lack of radio airplay,should take a trip to the fine city of Liverpool,and you will inevitably notice the long queue outside the Beatles Story and other Beatles related attractions the place is buzzing (before Covid),with mostly Americans looking for nostalgia.Most Radio stations have a playlist committee who tend to be from the more younger demographic,who ultimately answer to the producer, who has the final say oh and by the way, there are plenty of the younger Gens in that queue.

Having seen the Police on a few occasions,for me the tone that Sting conjured up during the early days was music to my ears,and was one of the reasons why i first picked up a Bass back in 81 after seeing them at the Spa Hall Bridlington ,classic it was.

Back in the eighties we used to do this number and i had the slap thing of to a tee with this number,but i used to alternate between playing a slap version all the way through at some gigs to just playing portions of slap at another gig,and we found that the latter went down the best,so imo its horses for courses.

They lifted the main riff from The Jam's -In the City.And the "Bogie till i'm sick " lyric all smacks of Punk for me, but you could be right.

I've had this Amp now for just over a year,and it has started to make a vibrating kind of buzzing noise but only on the A string around the 2nd and 3rd frets .I will stress that it is not my set up or strings buzzing its coming from the AMP it's self,?Anyone got any ideas.
