1.
Yet Another Grit Question... I bought a Boosta Grande with the intention of using it to push the preamp valves in my Fusion for when I need a little lift... you know what I mean... \m/ \m/ ...However, I've found that I like what the Boosta does so much that I want it 'always on'... Now I'm back to square one, basically. So I ask the Basschat FX massive... what's a good, natural-sounding pedal that won't lose me any top or bottom and that will give me a bit of break-up when I want it? Preferably one that will keep most of my original tone completely intact and add something rather than subtract or change anything. It can be quite big and bold too - I'm in a rock band, a three-piece plus vocal. I've read all the countless SansAmp/Tech-21/VT Bass/BDI-21 threads over the years (and have owned a VT Bass, a DHA VT1 and still have a BDI-21) and am looking for something a little bit different... I'm not really looking for the 'Ampeg Sound'. Well I am, but only from an SVT CL or a V4B, but that's another story... I thank you!
I'd recommend the Musiciansounddesign Silverstone. It can do that whilst having quite a big range with the three pots and the single dispatch it has. The other is the Barbershop from fairfield circuitry. This one is more subtle with a much narrower range -less versatile but good.
  2. Anyone tried the Keeley Neutrino? I am quite interested in this one. Also... the new mutton looks tempting if too big really for 2014 I think, with so many pedals doing so much in smaller boxes.

    Micro Compressors
Hey all, Been trying to get my hands on a Fairfield Circuitry accountant compressor for over 8 weeks now and the only UK distributor seems to be Guitar FX direct and it's just hopeless really so I've given up. My other alternatives seem to be Xotic SP Compressor - can't find any online feedback about what it's like with bass, any advice? Malekko Omicron Compressor Mooer Audio Yellow Really open to any ideas, budget of about £150 Let me know your thoughts or experiences! Many thanks
I'd go with prymaxevintage. That's where I got my accountant from. A fun pedal. and primaxe are god to deal with whilst not too expensive even including shipping.
  4. Not a single clip from the builder? I find that quite weird...he does want to sell some of these no?

    COG Pron Thread

Is the T-65 a clone/based on anything specific? Also; are there sound clips of it online somewhere yet?
  6.
I don't see these discussed much on here or Talkbass lately, and it looks like they may have ceased production. Their website is down and their last Facebook post was from last May... Anybody around here have one? I've got a custom made Bass Drive pedal that I've had for a few years. Note complete lack of power socket and mechanical on/off indicator! I hadn't played it for ages because I always thought it was too dark sounding and muddy, but I just tried using it again with a buffer in front (either a Boss ODB-3 in bypass or SFX Thumpinator does the job) and it sounds incredible. Really warm, smooth, bass-heavy overdrive that doesn't fart out when you dig in. It can even get into fuzz territory with the gain maxed. It does a pretty good impression of a pushed tube amp, along the lines of the Catalinbread SFT or Fuzzrocious Dark Driving. Of course, if you play a passive bass, you'll still need a powered pedal in front to get the best out of it!
Would you be able/willing to post sound clips of your pedal? I am rather interested in this passive thing!
  7. Will they have a proper website again in the foreseeable future? I don't have a facebook account and think that limits what i can see on theirs.
  8. Prymaxe was great until before christmas until they upped shipping cost to at least $40 ( I think it is 40 but may be 50). Now there's not all too much in it anymore i recon. Still a little better than buying from a uk shop hough.
  9. I'd love to try one of these too. Almost ordered one recently. ...then I heard that fairfield circuitry is releasing their barbershop v.2 soon. Will be holding off until I heard that one.
  10. I like it but am just not sure if it can do stuff others can't or at least the same stuff better than them.
  11. I like this pedal but just don't 'need 'it. Hence the sale. Price includes postage within England.

    Sold

If the price was lower ( I can get a new one for just a little more) I'd be very interested!
  13.
RAT for everything from boost to dirty fuzz. DAM Greasebox GB-80 is also outstanding on both bass and guitar. Really like the Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie Hella fuzz for muff stuff. Very interested in trying out the Tech 21 VT bass that I have incoming.
Which specific Rat do you like?
  14. Thanks for all the responses! I've been reading around a bit and am now wondering... Has anyone here tried the fairfield circuitry Barbershop OD? It seems to get very good reviews. I am also extremely curious as to cog effects knightfall...I seem to quite want one even without having heard much about it. Any opinions here on these two? Thanks again!
  15.
It's such a personal thing and depedant on your choice of bass, amp, cab, strings, plec etc, but personally, i love the Xotic BB bass preamp for light o/d, and for fuzz i love muffs, my fave being the wren and cuff tall font russian
Yes, very personal it is indeed. It i opinions that I am interested in, so your reply is exactly the type of thing I am looking for. Thanks!
  16.
love how that pedal looks! = immediate gas not on the site or able to find it on the net! bank balance breaths a sigh of relief! andy
Here's the site... it's in the bass modules section. 17. Hi all... I am wondering, as the title suggests, what your favorite dirt boxes are and what you might suggest I try as i am looking for something really dynamic to the touch and able to give me from just a little and fine 'hair' on my tone to... And...analogue would be nice! Thanks!
  18.
After 30 years playing and going through some of the 'best' basses out there i still don't believe you can beat the fender p or jazz bass. Iv had basses costing 4k and some costing £40 its not the bass its in us to make the music. Iv played basses that have pre amps as sensitive as my **** and some dead as door-nails... I (personally) think you cant beat a fender. Right now im playing a fender usa p bass deluxe v and a line 6 variaxe (great) ... I think the fender is the best bass i have played in all ways, and while i know its a very personal thing... they really are the work horse of the bass world, at least for a jobbing bass player as i am.... yeah its nice to see exotic wood but paying 2k because of it and lets face it many end up for sale i simply cant see it anymore... i think id prefer a nice table top rather than a bass to look at for exotic wood... yeah it changes the sound...but at the end of the day Fender got it right...After playing pro for many years and using and selling many basses. You can get most tones in the fingers, where and how we play, anything else can come from the tone and amp controls, you can 'will the sound' out of most basses, rather than trying endless pre amp options.... This is just my view of course and i can say i have played everything from top end spectors to old p bass copies... personally i always come back to the work horse of the bass world... Fender.. and lets face it a nice one is by no mean cheap ! but i personally think they got it right. It could well be because 30 years ago the first bass i ever had was a kay p bass copy, so i guess i grew up with the shape and fender basses were the (and still are) the main axe for most players back then.
Now it would help if fender also put them together properly and reliably so.

    WITHDRAWN
As the way things go, I might have to move this lovely bass on. I bought this very recently and it hasn't been gigged at all. It is a 34" scale 5 string with a Russian walnut body (and pup covers) with a birdseye maple fingerboard. It has the best 'B' I've heard on a bass - nice, punchy and an even playability across all the strings. Vast tonal palette and very easy to 'dial' a tone to suit. The bass comes with a hardcase, tool and manual. Looking for offers close to £1995 - they are £2954 currently. Details on the bass can be found here: http://www.marleaux-..._signature.html There is a review of the Marleaux MBass here: http://www.marleaux-..._mBass-Test.pdf
The M is a fantastic design. (my favourite neck through) I distinctly remember the first time I played one- one of the very few basses I can say that for. In the case of the M this was memorable for all the right reasons. Good luck with the sale!
  20. Not much to say about these apart from that I like them very ,very much. £1600 ono...any offer will be considered. Pick up only. Thanks for reading!
  21.
no worries, thanks for the interest. if you want a cheaper clone of this little beauty, you could opt for the Joyo version. i think it's called the 'ultimate drive' or some such.. not wanting to ruin my own sale here, as i'm sure plenty of people would prefer the original, particularly guitarists. the Joyo one has a different gain structure from what i've heard of it, but may suit you.
I don't do clones, so that won't be an option. Ideally I'd like something 1590A anyways, but having tried the ocd recently this is still tempting.
