1. I've bought one of these. It seems to be an order of magnitude better than my B2. The synths etc. track much, much, better. Everything seems to sound better. And, I haven't even started editing the effects yet. However, I'm pleased* to say that the looper is rubbish. There is no undo, not even for the most recent layer overdubbed. You can't remix layers after you record them. You can't adjust the mix of the layers after you record them. It's about as simple as a looper can be and still work, except that you can use the built-in rhythms underneath loops, which is very useful. *I'm making my own looper. I was worried that the Zoom would have a super-duper looper and give me a big challenge in advancing my own looper to beat it.
2. On the German Music Forum, they claim that while wages are effectively the going rate for the area where their factory is, they do inspect the factory and check that the workers have good conditions.
3.
Ask them AT You never know they might not have even thought about them. No harm in asking. Go on you know you want to
I have! They said about the 9 string bass that this was a possibility but that nothing was decided yet. BTW: Is this the electro-acoustic bass that you mentioned? http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_clb_10sce_ns.htm
4.
Do you think he includes part of the postage with the price ? I've never sold on ebay so don't know if their cut is different for items and shipping.
I'd assume that this is happening. But, I don't know why. Why wouldn't s/he make it free p&p? Perhaps s/he just wants to get people talking about his/her auctions and posting them on forums
5. All of the seller's other guitars and basses seem to have the same or occasionally similar p&p prices. One of his guitars has £2.75p&p.
6. This is the cheapest non-free p&p I've seen for a bass. It can't possibly cover p&p, so why put £2.99 there? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samick-Greg-Bennett-Royale-Bass-Black-/261215807327?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3cd1ace75f
7. All's fair in love, war, and bass purchasing
8. I used to be jealous that in the US they had Rondo Music who would sell all sorts of interesting basses for reasonable money. While not every instrument they come up with is a winner, Thomann seem to be rapidly filling that role over here in Europe. I am still hoping that they'll release a Harley Benton Chapman Stick copy or a 9 string bass.
9. In your OP you compared the asking price to second hand Warwicks. How would you compare the ESP to something like this Corvette? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WARWICK-CORVETTE-BASS-5-STRING-natural-made-in-GERMANY-active-pickups-/261621063116?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3ce9d49dcc (I was tempted to post the Corvette in this forum before - seems a good price to me - but I don't know how much Corvettes go for and I note that this is still not sold).
10. Perhaps more weird than wonderful, I fear. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2597103d08
11. The proof of the pudding is whether or not they sell for those prices. There are lots of people putting basses up on ebay for prices that they'll never sell for. Squier Affinity p-bass for £150 anybody? I'm not sure how much the ESP is worth, but I've watch-listed it and we'll see what happens.
12. Congratulations Kodiakblair. BTW: In hindsight I thought I was a bit flippant in the other thread when you shared some of your life situation. So, I'll take this opportunity to express sympathy for past woes and wish you the best for the present and future.
13. Congratulations on the new Peavey. I think you said that you had some more on the way too. If you fed your cat Aldi own-brand cat food, wouldn't that mean that you could buy an extra bass every few months or so?
14. Thanks for the answers. If those are slack strings, they must be an order of magnitude more slack than anything I have. I don't think I'm making anything out of anything. I just noticed that his finger was pushing the string notably out of resting position and wondered why that was.
15. Lucky for me I have no intention of selling my Westone, so prices don't matter.
16.
I have one of these. Do share any settings for sounds that you particularly like. Would be fun to see what else people get out of them.
And vice-versa. There's a bit thread on Talkbass for sharing B1Xon settings, but hardly anyone has posted any settings in it. http://www.talkbass.com/threads/zoom-b1xon-settings-thread-omg.1080224/
17.
Thanks for posting this, I appreciate it. Now all I have to do is find £250 of economies... (and learn to play the thing properly!).
Congratulations on your purchase! It's always nice when something is posted here and someone buys it.
18. I now have the B1Xon, and I think it's certainly a very good tool for headphone practice. Sometime soon I'll plug it into some speakers to see what it sounds like through them. But, there are a very wide range of sounds possible through this device. And, the drum patterns are useful. I haven't yet really tried the aux in or the looper, but will give those a go soon.
19. Great purchase Itsmedunc. That's a steal at £217.
20. When this player plays, he sometimes not only rests his thumb on a string, but also pushes quite hard at the string. E.g. between about 3m40s and 3m50s into this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHFLNe6IOnE Why would he do that?
21. That looks fantastic.
22. You'd think that Thomann would put the price up if they can be sold for a premium. I suppose that an organisation such as Thomann has people working for it who carefully consider prices and work out what is the right price for each instrument. I wonder if that ebonol fretless neck would fit into a Harley Benton jazz body. Not seriously, but the thought did cross my mind.
23. I've seen these licensed by Fender ebonol necks before, and think they look really nice. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lic-by-Fender-Ebonal-Precision-Bass-Neck-MM2919-/331341407218?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4d257ca3f2
24. Is this yet another debranded Harley Benton? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Excellent-Jazz-bass-copy-/281462673338?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item41887b8fba
