  1. I actually like the Getaway. It's the first RHCP album since Californication that I listen frequently. I haven't listened to stadium in a few years as It's where I lost my fanboy-ness for a while... In a way I was looking forward to a new album with Josh, but of course legend-wise it's cool to have John back..... As for one hot minute; it wasn't received well back than as people expected more like bssm. Though it's sort of a standalone RHCP album, I enjoy its weird dark vibe and think it's great in its own right.
  2. Thank you all! The Ripper indeed has a distinctive voice of its own. I like the grit with the mid control at 10, but it can sound a lot more modest too. And no, this Gibson does not sound muddy at all :).
  3. Gibson Ripper 1978 Lovely old Gibson Ripper. This is just a great playing and sounding bass.... The bass is in great shape for its age. Of course it has earned its signs of use, but no structural damage. All hardware and electronics are working well. The trussrod is fine, and the neck straight. The out of phase position has been rewired to neck pickup solo, but can be easily reversed if you wish so. Some pictures: The Ripper has been set up with a low action, so it's playing nice and easy (at least in my hands). It has been fitted with DR fat beams which sound great on this bass. It's not a light bass, as it weighs around 5kg. The original hardcase is included. It's handle is missing, and the other hardware is rusty. It's still okay for storing. The bridge cover and strapbuttons are also included. It's a tough choice but I need some stuff to go. Asking: €1.450 (approx £1.210) Tradewise I'd be especially interested in an old competition mustang bass (with matching headstock). Some other examples of what would be of my interest: Musicmaster bass, unlined fretless (blade, fender Japan, 70s Fender P), cool old Japanese copies, Yamaha superbass, Ibanez black eagle, Squier SQ precision, esp navigator PJ, modulus flea, avri 63 precision, Stingray with lacquered neck (ideally honeyburst, 2eq) like early 90s... I've got more stuff to add in a trade if needed :). The bass is located in the Netherlands, but could be shipped insured within europe/UK.
  4. Just thought I'd update after a few months: The amp has been serviced and I use it weekly now with band practice. It sounds just great with my eden 410 cab. Meanwhile I also scored a bassman 135 (with nos vintage Fender tubes) at a decent price finally... Haven't tried it yet with the band, though I am curious how these will compare.
  5. Maybe preamp clipping? Try to turn the master volume up, and lower the gain on the channel volume. I've acquired the same amp a few months back. It really sounds great.
  6. One of the basses I need to own at one point. I love the Fenders from this era🙂
  7. I've done it several times without any problems. The neck can also be taken from the body for compact and riskless shipping. Done it this way also a lot of times. Never had any trouble. But if a buyer sorts out a case that accommodates this 35" Scale bass, I'm happy to arrange something together to have it shipped cased. Cheers
  8. I would trade for a bunch of effects pedals, or a nice fretless (Japanese fender, blade). I could add some gear if needed.
  9. Marshall 3530 Great old Marshall solid state 300w amp from the late 80s or early 90s.These seem to be kinda scarce and don´t pop up that frequently. The amp sounds just great (and can go loud), but I do not use it anymore since Ive bought an old Music Man head. Besides that, Ive walked into an affordable Fender Bassman recently too that will have use in my band. So the Marshall may leave if I can sell it at a decent price. As you can see, the amp is mounted in a housing. I think this is original to the amp as ive seen similiar ones on the internet. This amp is in good functioning condition. Though the pots would benefit from a clean up as some are scratchy when turning. Now €225 I am located in the Netherlands. Of course the amp can be picked up on location, but it could also be shipped at buyers risk/expense. Payment in euro's through PayPal as a friend, or bank transfer.
  10. I've owned USA G&L basses, as well as a tribute. Both sounded and played equally great. Those tributes are a good value, especially when looking at the low prices in the used market. Mine was pretty light too. The sounds of these basses are huge, and I think they have a nice flavour to them. I didn't like it too much in the band or for recordings though (for some reason it didn't sound personal enough for me... Not really sure what I mean) ... My Gibsons (ripper, g3) and music Man Sabre fit a lot better.
  11. Peter bought my Fafner head. All went great, good communication also. Many thanks Peter, enjoy your new amp!
