  1. Yeah, I get it. I only know a few full time musicians and most of them are teachers in the week and then play in functions bands on the weekends. And no worries for posting twice, doesn’t matter!
  2. Oh I quite agree. There was a Radio 4 show about why ignorance is key to innovation. People who approach problems from a unique angle (because they’re savants, non neurotypical, incredibly intelligent or from another culture, for example) can often find new opportunities that others have ignored or simply never considered. Musicians have incredible skills that can be applied in new areas. I used to work with a woman who studied music and played professionally. She moved into music therapy and, from there, moved into the NHS and is now head of a national charity. Power of music!
  3. I sort of get it, but there are ways around this stuff. The video was a guy moaning about how people can’t make money from music anymore as the opportunities aren’t there. That’s basically it.
  4. You don’t need to have a user account to watch the video. (I don’t have one and I could see it). Isn’t this the same video as last time?
  5. That’s excellent advice. I see Mark is selling a set on here at a very reasonable price.
  6. It’s currently in transit!
  7. That’s a real shame. I’m sorry to hear that.
  8. That's excellent advice. Didn't know the size limitations.
  9. I thought the point of BassBros was that it would be setup perfectly for you? Lovely bass.
  10. Loads of places online. I’ve not done promo prints for a few years but costs get lower with scale. Double sided printing is more complex so I’d do one side if possible. Not sure of the sizes for QR codes so that’s a consideration. Would a functional QR code fit on a pick?
  11. I think if the seller makes that clear then absolutely. However, if you make an agreement and then go back on it, you’re a wrong un.
  12. Excellent advice. I’d love to check one out.
  13. I’ve had pretty much all the DB on stands. I loved the NS EUBs as the scale length was the same as a DB and you can also use genuine DB strings. The WAV basses are great value but the stands are rubbish. I’m not sure you can use genuine DB strings on the Ibanez bass. Ultimately I’d try it if you can! Would love to hear how you get on.
  14. It’s a den of scum and villainy and nothing good from using Facebook. Last time I was on there (year ago) I got ripped off with a guitar I bought. When k tried to sell something I was assailed by scammers. When I finally did sell something the guy “buying it for his kid” sold it on for a profit. FB sucks and the money you save sometimes seriously isn’t worth the effort dealing with time wasters, con artists and liars.
  15. This.
  16. I agree 100%. When things go wrong banks often get it in the neck. My dad isn’t the most technologically literate person but his bank has been great in protecting him from fraud.
  17. This is the oldest scam in the book. I remember seeing one like this advertised in Pembrokeshire and I just happened to be in Pembrokeshire on holiday. They then told me it was in Jersey. It's 100% a scam. I'm really impressed your bank would refuse to send the money.
  18. You’ve never seen my soldering, but it’s really is bad. Wouldn’t have been a red coloured wire either. Its just all shades of wrong this one.
  19. String choice depends on personal preference. For even lower tension strings you can get a set of 4/4 Weichs. I use those and really like them.
  20. Nail on the head. What's odd is that I had the same query a little earlier this morning. (Personally, I really don't like the strings and want to change them).
  21. Used to love the Bose shop. They spent about 2 hours with my dad choosing headphones and a Bluetooth speaker. He spent about £500 and was over the moon with them. Thankfully we still have Richer Sounds, but I know what you mean about the convenience of Amazon.
  22. This all escalated quickly… Amazon use all manner of tricks to enable them to undercut competitors. Tax dodging, Union busting, zero hours contracts - they’re not a good company. How you spend your money reflects to some extent your values and beliefs. (I have bought stuff from Amazon in the past but try not to!)
  23. Luck is a massive part of it, too. Loads of musicians I know who have been in successful bands have just been in the right place at the right time. I must say I was envious in the past, but that’s immaturity speaking. Now I’m happy for anyone that’s doing what they love.
  24. Really good point. I found the Innovations to be quite “flappy” and there was definite buzz (not the growl that you want).
