  1. I had this. Sound people kept complaining the bass was too low with a piezo and then when I turned it up the risk of feedback was too high. I now have both a magnetic and a peizo on the bass and while you can mix them, I can't be bothered. Let us know how the gig goes!
  2. Yeah, I meant more that kind of heavy muted flatwound sound. Did you see the gig at the Barbican?
  3. True. It’s a wonderful album and he did the 2007 Barbican concert perfectly.
  4. Guy worked with Taylor Swift that’s why.
  5. Err, the order got cancelled as I’m going to sell the bass.
  6. There’s some controversy about what he did and didn’t play on this album, but the tone he got on Melody Nelson album (and live) is the greatest bass sound I’ve ever heard.
  7. OK. We have a solution now. I can stick the Midget cabinet in a cupboard so it's not in the way. This, strangely enough, solves all my problems as I can now test the 1x10s and Midget at the next gig. Phew.
  8. I agree with this. Some of the prices for stuff is just mad. People are trying ahop prices for private sales then getting upset when nobody is interested… The same issues is affecting the car market, too. Private sale values are nuts for 18 year old cars.
  9. That’s a lot of gear! As well as the Barefaced cabs I’ve got an Ampeg valve amp. I could sell that and keep them all (but I don’t want to, obviously).
  10. Incredible bass and Bucharest is a wonderful city
  11. I’d seen this and Alex actually told me the 2 x 10s would suit me best. Coupled with the real world experiences of people here suggest that’s the best option in terms of size, weight and convenience. Thanks all.
  12. This was my hope. The 10s are also easier to carry and store
  13. Good question. I currently don’t have a car so it’s not an option. My practice space (loft) is becoming our master bedroom hence the need to downsize:
  14. Hello! I have 2 x Barefaced 1x10 cabs (love them) and a Barefaced Midget. I don't have a huge amount of space anymore, and I wanted some live advice as to whether the 2 x 1x10s would be as loud as the Midget. (If it is I'll put the Midget up for sale). Anyone used this set up before? I don't want to sell the Midget then find that the 10s aren't going to deliver the power I need. We're talking pubs, small clubs etc. Sometimes I can add a bit of bass to the PA if needed.
  15. Do you need an independent valuation? When insuring mine I simply told them what they were worth (replacement value) and received no issues.
  16. In some ways it’s quite positive that people are willing to pay such a large amount for tickets. Given streaming pays nearly nothing (unless you’re a superstar) I guess live dates are where they make 90% of their cash. In this instance, nobody is upset that they’re charging a fortune (as I said, my friend group checked out when it became clear the event would cost the same as a cheap foreign holiday). Instead, it’s the way that surge pricing was introduced. This wasn’t part of the deal and it seems really cruel. If you want to see what happens when bands get it wrong take a look at the Black Keys US arena tour…
  17. Where are you based? If you’re local to me I’d happily help you out.
  18. This is exactly it. The system is designed to pressure you into making a decision. Imagine the situation. You've accepted you'll pay £150 for a ticket and spend anything from 4-6 hours waiting for your chance. When you get in, your heart rate is up and you see the tickets. But they're more expensive. There's a count down timer which will boot you out if you don't buy. The rational part of your brain is saying no, but you want the hit of the purchase and you can afford it (just). So you dig out your credit card, get the hit and then the long and precipitous drop happens. A lot of people can't figure out why they did something so stupid, they just did. Ticketmaster knows exactly what it's doing and the ways to encourage people to spend recklessly...
  19. Now listed on eBay. Will fish out the flight case later and take some pictures.
  20. I like the 90s hip hop style font. Guess album covers not such a big deal in the streaming age.
  21. I’m sure what you mean. Most people would spend £150 on tickets without some agreement they’d be reimbursed. In my own friend group there were several people trying to get tickets with the agreement they’d be paid back. My point is that people are very, very flakey. It’s hard enough getting 5 middle aged men into a rehearsal studio for a pre-booked 2 hours session. The amount of tickets put up for sale over the next 10 months will be incredible. I’m going to state again I’m confident that if you want tickets, you’ll be able to get them.
