1. Me, I'm Jay and am mostly playing with an award winning function outfit called 5CATFish. We mainly play High Society functions and weddings. Anyway here's the link - www.5catfish.com Also am in the throws of making my 'side' project more profitable. Hot Sauce is my Disco covers outfit. We play a fair few standards but also play stuff that you don't see bands usually play in this genre. Have a listen to the demo's we've just uploaded as we recorded everything live rather than going for a false sounding studio recording.... I'm really pleased with the results. 2. This is the image in the press release so presumably this is the body shape.
Was that braintree rocks? I was on the line up there too, saw nwr in the backstage beer tent, really nice guy. Weather could have been better!!
Thats the very one...
5. I love this.... made me laugh...... S'funny as I know a few bands that have done similar things because they got hacked with the local music scene..... A friend of mine decided to go solo and now is pretty successful with this act - kunt & the Gang I'm sure you'll like it

The Blockheads

I supported the Blockheads a few years back at a festival in Essex.... I remember hanging out backstage in the dark as the lights were buggered.... I turned around suddenly and NWR was standing right in front of me....... scared the sh*t out of me..... it was like nosferatu crept up on me....
7. Im not sure I understand.... explain how you have everything set up
8. you should check out some of the Garageband tutorials online.... fairly helpful if your new to the mac.
9. Hmmm problem is he show's up my sloppy playing....
10. My function band has Craig Blundell on drums.... maybe not as famous as Mr Paladino but he is playing with some serious acts King King and David Cross to name a couple, he's also Roland's main clinician for V-drums so you've probably seen him in action somewhere.... Anyway I bet Pino won't get any grief for being in a wedding band..... especially when he play's 'Lady in Red'.... eh...eh... I've also just found out we're doing a wedding where we be playing with 'The Script'..... should be interesting
11. I can't as I have an endorsement with GK, not that I'd want to anyhow.... I love the MB2!
12. I've been running the GK MB2 500 for about a year now no problems at all. It was the best for my tonal requirements over mark bass, genz and Eden lightweight varieties
13. Thats the one!
14. Iconic bass guitar luthier teams up with Tanglewood for 'aspirational' mid-priced instruments Chris May, whose Overwater custom bass guitar brand celebrates 30 years in 2010, has teamed up with Tanglewood guitars to create Overwater by Tanglewood, a range of bass guitars designed and overseen by May. The initial launch at Musikmesse sees Tanglewood's new stand in the electric guitar hall showing four new models in the Aspiration series with prices ranging form £329 to £899. A fifth model will be added soon to bridge the gap between the £549 mark and the top of the range £899. Overwater basses (of which a fiver string model is pictured) are among the most revered in the world and are played by professionals in all walks of music, and May has been keen on getting into a more accessible price range for some time. "When Tony (Flatt) came to me with the idea, I knew the time was finally right," said May. "Tanglewood has an excellent reputation for its quality in the mass market of acoustic guitars and, importantly for me, is a British company. The development process has taken some 18 months, with May bringing in a team of experts in the luthiery business, including the pickup technician, Alan Entwistle, bass electronics 'guru' John East. "The beauty of the project is that Tanglewood told me to design the guitars, using the components and designs I wanted and then we would look at how much they would cost," May continued. "This meant we could consider everything very carefully." This is now the second project Tanglewood has undertaken with a top luthier, following on from the success with Michael Sanden and the Master Design series of acoustic guitars. Tanglewood has also launched a new range of electric guitars at the show (the Signature series), a new range of gigbags (Original Airline) and is showing its new Historic series acoustics.
15.
Oh, just something about where you should be looking: 1. Into the crowd - when you're vibing off their energy; 2. At your fellow band members - when you're vibing off how locked into the music you are; 3. At your fingers - when you're intensely focused on your playing (this one is overdone by most people); 4. Up at the ceiling - when the whole performance is taking you off onto a higher plane of consciousness.
5. At the Bridesmaid with the massive norks who has had one too many to drink and is about to be unleashed in front of everyone..... Seen it many many times
16.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_DPx0eQ16c THE SLAP TONE! (for me anyways), i just love it, doesnt sound too trebley... more like quite middy actually, before he got to the stage of using alembics and status's when it all went downhill along with the bands musical direction (again imho), Jaydee supernatural classic series 1 1978 Trace elliot ah250 (i think?) x2 Trace elliot 1048h cabs x2 yamaha analog delay: one for modualtion, one for delay... mxr phase 100... unbeatable. on a serious not ive just read this thread and not really impressed to be honest, slap bass tone is not the end of the world and yet that guys slating marcus miller is acting like it is. lets not argue were supposed to be grown up's here. the only thing i will say is that marcus is not bothered hes got more money than probably all of us, so if his tone is crap or not who cares??? thanks, hope everyone is well marcus x
I think you'll find the 1048H wasn't around during this era.... I believe he had some bright boxes but to be honest it doesn't give you that top end zing of a Compression Driver
17. I was thinking about this the other day...... this would be kool on the new ipad..... saves carrying loads of sheet music around with you.
18. These frequencies fall under the Air to Ground licensing section in the UK.....
19.
Not that simple though - the licensed freqs are different in each country too. Although there has only been a handful of prosecutions (it is a criminal offence) the fines are potentially unlimited. You might get a smack on the wrist for arsing up the local taxi firm freqs and nothing more (if they can find you) - but if you gig at Heathrow or near enough to a 999 call centre and get in the way...
Yes but you can use those frequencies in the UK if you have the appropriate license.... how a lot of toursound/theatre companies and operate. Does anyone know what frequencies this thing runs on?
20. I'll be there on the Kam stand for the duration
21. If they operate outside the de-reg frequencies you could always buy a license.... doesn't mean the units are illegal
22. Bumping the bits that are still here
23. Funnily enough I'm just learning this for my Disco/Funk band..... Fab tune!
24.
I'd agree if you was to choose one then a limiter is more likely to suit. I don't use either & have (with mucho practice) learned to control how hard I slap as I play some songs that switch techniques.
+1 here.... I can't see that either would help..... I play a lot of Slap and finger style throughout my sets and I use neither and suffer no loss of volume. Maybe if you were recording the material but not live.,
