1. Let's not get into a barney about this..... some of us love him... some of us loathe him..... there are plenty of bass players out there we all have different opinions about.... I don't think slagging any of them off is very grown up is it...... For example, for me Jaco, Entwistle, Hook...... I think they are utter dross.... but thats my opinion and I would not slate another member here for being a fan.... they have all bought something to the Bassist dinner table ;o)
2. One thing to add to the above.... yes even though it looks as though Channel 38 is where RF will end up.... If you are using Sennheiser G2/G3 IEM or other radio equipment.... it will NOT become obsolete at switch over as these units will still be able to operate in. In fact you can and will be able to run up to 6 G3 systems in the de-reg bands on channel 70 without license. These frequencies are - 863.100 MHz, 863.400 MHz, 863.750 MHz, 864.225 MHz, 864.550 MHz and 864.975 MHz J
3. Status owner here too.... only 40 though so not using it to bag the groupies...
4. Buy yourself a proper IEC Power cable.... some of these cheap 'kettle' leads are not the same size as the pro units.... even if its 1/4 mm out it makes for a loose connection
5. Another here from the Essex Massive.... Innit!
6. would be up for trades also
7. Anyone got any interesting trades? interested in TC pedals, studio equipment, PA gear..... try me
8.
Last month one of the function bands I play in spent a Sunday morning recording. We’ve been together since November and this was our first time recording as a band. We did 7 songs in 4 hours and our vocalists recorded the following Tuesday evening. I thought I’d share one of the tracks we did and see if I can get some opinions from the BC community. Hopefully they’ll be more constructive then that of a drunk punter. American Boy – Estelle.
Sounds great to me.... My only criticism is that I would re-look at having the drums at least keeping a beat (maybe kick and hats) through the verses.... The function band I play with do this with this particular track and it keeps the punters on the floor rather than there being a bit of a low when its just vox and bass/keys playing....
9.
Response: Hi Joe We don?t like doing it but we have to compete with the American and German manufactures who do not quote RMS as standard but Max/Peak power which is around 4x the true RMS value. Because its new technology using ALFET lateral mosfets don?t be deceived by the ratings this amp it will give any Chinese 1600watt amp a run for it's money. This amp is 250Watts RMS at 4Ohms a side and 160Watts RMS at 8Ohms a side. Its bigger brother the 3200 gave the CrownXTI4000 a run for its money it was as loud and was a better quality sound. Regards Peter. Joe.
Well I'm convinced.....
10.
It's a long read http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/vendors-baz...er-modules.html http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/vendors-baz...er-modules.html discaliamer: These are just a couple of threads I have read without anymore than 5 mins internet searching - and they are a bit out of date now - so I hope that things have changed for them and they have sorted out their QC and comms issues. - my Cat could solder better than the examples shown of kit that the folk on the forum received.
Hmmmmmm similar experience here
11.
I've just been reading very long threads on the DIYAudio forum about Class-D and their produce.. .
What did you find Dood?
12. Sorry I've had real negative experiences with Class-D products in the past.... I would not recommend them If you want a very well built 1 u amp for not a lot of money then try this - DAS Audio PS-400 I used these in the past and they are extremely reliable....
13.
What do you guys think the perfect bass is for a 5 piece pop style functions band, music from your nan's favorites, to disco through Kylie to modern x factor winner type pop acts?
My weapon of choice for this is a Status Kingbass 5 String Graphite in my avatar. It's light, 32" scale and headless so great for tighter spaces.... Never goes out of tune (often left on the stand between sets in Garden Marquees and outdoor stages) and has a great range of sounds.
14.
Including Fish's debut solo album "Vigil in a wilderness of Mirrors" Some beautiful, tasteful fretless playing that is pretty prominent in the mix - especially on "Cliche" and "Family Business". He also played on John Martyn albums - particularly "Grace and Danger". Lovely player who is very under-rated.
Indeed.... and some mad stuff with Brand X
15. Also John Giblin - Simple Minds, Kate Bush, phil collins plus loads of others
16. Terry Lewis (Jam & Lewis) was at the forefront of a lot of American productions that had heavy bass lines
17.
I should be picking these up from Mark tomorrow. I can't bloody wait.
NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Ya lucky bugga.....
18. Argh.... want the GB75...... not after anytrades of anything are you?
19. Stop telling everyone how good these basses are...... I'm trying to get the funds together....... these basses are rubbish...... ahem.....
20.
I think for your average weekend warrior trying to get FoH for bass and IEM's to work for all venues and all members of the band is hard. Our drummer is talking about using IEM's for monitoring rather than his wedge. Problem is there's no bass in the monitors we don't all want the same mix in our wedges that he wants in his IEM's. It just seems very complicated. Plus I want the bass sound I hear to be under my control.
I think it depends on how many mixes you need really.... also how many sends/Aux you have on your desk to handle the mixes. The funk band I play with have now moved over to rehearsing with IEMS completely..... it's fantastic as the drummer can use his Roland kit and we all get an overall mix. sound quality is fab and we can rehearse in my studio at the back of my house till into the early hours without disturbing anyone
