this is really nice ... may I ask ... what is the concept behind the not straight/slanted pickups?

Hello again fellow bass players, I was out for a while, doing all sort of things except working of course. I have not done many recently, cause I focused on trying and sell some, but lately I got some parts left to produce a low cost as following: Maple neck. 21 Frets Maple Fretboard with black rectangle inlay. Gloss effect on the front and sanded in the back to provide a wood effect. 34" scale. BODY: Light Paulownia Wood, 42mm Thick Maple Wood Tele Style Dome Knobs Brand new pots and hardware all around. Brand new Precision Alnico 5 4-String Precision Bass Pickup High Output (resistance 11.5K) Brand new Adagio professional strings I just wanterd to share it with you and say hi again! What colour would you suggest for the body? I wanted to finish it with pure wood oil only, but not sure now.

Hey. Wanna share with you my last creation. Pure assembly with a few components found on the second hand market.0 A bit of wood work for sanding the body and the neck, a bit of work in the neck pocket (was a mm larger than the neck so I used a maple veneer on the internal sides of the neck poscket to fill the gap). Plus some oiling of the neck and the body after finishing the sanding. - cedar body (or at least I think it is since is soft and light) - maple + maple neck - added stickers on the inlays to conceal the original black dots - no brands P bass pickups + rosswell jazz bridge pickup (thanks to @orangepeelneil) - cream control knobs (thanks to @orangepeelneil, again!) - adagio string - musiclily tuners and bridge Notes: Nice low action throughout the whole fretboard A bit of neck dive there, unfortunately ... how to fix it? Thanks for lookin!

Yeah ... The warman drivetrain is a beast. I have in the second P51 style bass I assembled and it sounds a lot nicer compared to the green one, which is, as you correctly stated, less powerful. But good enough for the money and for this project. I remember this baby bass, and at the time I said ... This is LOVELY! It stuck in my head probably when I was building this one. Love the color of yours too!

not sure ... at the beginning I wanted a very minimal design with just one knob for the volume, but now I got to two (V+T), and I would like to have the full power of the 4 in series if you know what I mean?

thanks! appreciated the clarification on the head and the offer!! thanks! 🙂

now, as usual, the first OSB floor picture of the bass, which is almost finished. I miss the strings and the machine heads that are arriving soon. Control plate modified to shar edges rather than rounded, plus installation of the pickup. I wanted to place a chrome ring around the pickup, but saince I am satisfied with the routing, this time, I think I leave it as it is.
-
wonderful bass and project, this one.
-
Yeah. Exactly. I wanted to put the jack on the side, but I "engineered" (hahahahah, big word for me) a P51 style plate to host 3 holes and modified it to suit the shape of the bass. I'll show yousss soon!
-
I like this one more, thanks!

Now the pickup has arrived, so I finished routing the cavities for it and for the control plate. I modified the P51 standard plate into a sharp edges one, and ready now to solder the controls to the pickup. I'm happy with both cavities, finally I think I did a better job than with the other basses. I used a home made template made of pine sticks to route the edges. One quick question: what is the best way to drill the holes from the pickup cavity to the control cavity in your experience? And what drill bit to use? Thanks!

bit of an update here. I had lowered the neck to a more comfortable spot in order to minimize the possibilities of wood bending (thanks @Doctor J for the suggestion). Also, cust a bit the waist (no dieat has ever been that fast in my experience) cutting a bit of wood on the two sides. Colored the body with a couple of coats of green. Basic glossy green. The color is still draft, in the sense that I will have to spray it another wee coat to make it more even, but I think I like the combo of colors in this bass. I still have to finish the back, but I think I like keeping the two different colors in the back side of the body. Yes, I started coating without having routed the pickup area yet (pickup is arriving, but it's late), I know: I could not wait, I had some more time available so I wanted to go ahead, but since it is the first layer of paint, I think it might not be a big problem.

no control plate and only knobs would be lovely too!

wow ... what a lovely collection there! May I ask: have you built the necks too? lot to learn here!!
