Clive Brown?

I am going through a bit of an older bass phase (what I really want is a pre-CBS 5 string Jazz and P with 35" scale). Next week I might change, who knows? Clive Brown is a name which comes up at the very outer reaches of Google regarding building nice old Fenders, but can I get any solid info on the man? Can I heck. It is probable that he just does not need the publicity etc that the WWW would offer him, he is probably ticking along nicely with a dedicated fan base. Does anyone have any more info on him?

    Waldorf Pulse Plus

Hmmm it seems that a lot of the Dave Smith stuff has analogue ins on them. I will delve further. Thanks.
  3.
Ireland for the Grand Slam!!! (again!)
Quel domage!
  4. I have set up an OC2->Syb5 (with mod pedal)->G5->Adrenalinn signal chain. There are so many options my head is hurting. I have come up with some SUPERB sounds, but it is all so randomly chaotic that I don't really know that I could rely on finding them when I need them. Has anyone messed with a Waldorf Pulse Plus? It is a monophonic 2U rackmount analogue synth but has an analogue input so that we could plug our basses in and use all the filterage in there. It has 40 user presets. I find this idea of gettting a great sound and then being able to access it when needed strangely alluring.
  5. Why has nobody bought this? Eh? Eh?
  6. Put the useless monster styrofoam case on Ebay. I flogged one for £220 there. It will make the bass seem EXTRA bargainous.
  7. OK, perhaps the offer of violence was a bit over enthusiastic.
  8. JS Bach's bass lines rule EVERYONE else's bass lines. EVER. I will fight anyone who says differently.
  9. Flightcases are cool if your stuff is going in the hold and then in a van and you meet it at the gig. SKB bass safe is cooler if it goes in the hold and then you move stuff around at the other end cos you put you bass in a gig bag in the bass safe and then move around with a gig bag at the other end.
  10. Bump for P4 having left the building.
  11. It is still here and is the full kit
Hi, Do you still have the EMG P setup for sale - if so I would love to buy (BTW, does it come with the pots and socket as well as the loom?)
Mistakes

Thanks to all who have contibuted. Just for closure I will offer a couple Deeper underground - Ringing open bass string at 1:03 and same open ringing bass string from same lick at 2:00 Amy Winehouse - You know I'm no good - poss drum looop being 1 or 2 bpm faster than the rest of the loops used at 0:16 Again, to stress, this is just an excercise. It does not make the songs any less valid. I still listen to them and enjoy them. The reality is that I would love to have stuff out that is so commercially mainstream that people can spot my mistakes
  13.
Good man! Talking of Bernard, many years ago I picked up a cassette (remember them?) in my local Our Price Records (remember them?) by a band called Distance. Someone recognised the names of Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson, and filed this album under "Soul & Funk". I got it home and discovered that it was arse-kicking rock! And Bernard still sounded like himself. (I've recently got the CD version)
Tell me more about Distance
  14. It is indeed the latest technology and will actually do pitch correction and quantise in real time. However, because I love Basschat so much I am willing to let it go for £45. Either that or I need to learn how to proof read

15. Bump for added EMG goodness
  16.
i like the look of that neck mate, what bits have you got left? how much for the remaining eub bits you posted?
Neck and machines (planed and trued rosewood fingerboard) £180 Bridge from the bass the same time as the neck came off so the radius is matched for the fingerboard £20 New rosewood tailpiece - £20 Yamaha tom arm and mount to mount the whole thing onto a cymbal stand £20 All these are still here including the very large piece of Ash. I would do then all for £200 + carriage. Let me know. Owen

  20. Bump for trade option added.
  21. I had real issues with a piezo bridge (not MM) and it turned out that the saddle had actually snagged the lead coming off the actual pick up. It took a very long time to find that out.
  22.
Is the Fishman still available?
Not only available but waiting for you..................
  23.
I thought as much..... bloody ampeg... the thing is, I am that fussy... so thats all good
I have turned up to play outdoors now and again and there is a full SVT rig that I can turn up loud. They have their moments!
  24.
How does that work on a double bass then???
Just on the VERY REMOTE chance that ANYONE thought I was being serious, that was a joke. However, if your using metal core strings then you can mount them at the end of your fingerboard and have the PHATEST P bass in the world. It is NOT a traditional DB sound, but it actually does have it's merits and is not the stupidest idea ever.
