Magnificent semi acoustic bass which speaks to your fingers. Sounds from upright to a fat and tight bass guitar. The finger or pick position makes all the difference. Or the thumb: this instrument allows for slapping nicely too. Is now strung with Thomastik flats but works well with any string (I also used Elixirs). Very good ergonomics, fast neck, great balance while extremely light. Has the earlier version of the pre amp which is considered provide the best sound. Body Mahohany Fretboard Ipe Frets 21 Scale 35" Radius 12" Width at 12th fret 45mm Weight 3,4kg Tuners: Gotoh Pre amp Rick Turner (1st edition) 1 x volume, 1 x tone Pickup D-Tar Piezo Built in 2002 in USA by the great late Mr. Rick Turner

This quite early LEJ5 built by top luthier Chris Benavente has the new LE 2/3 pre amp (original Benavente pre amp available too) and the original stacked single coils Kent Armstrong pickups. Great ‘more traditional’ Jazz Bass sounds with a versatile 3 band pre amp, and if you like, especially in the 2 band setting, deep, fat lows and sizzling highs. This bass is built like tank, plays like a dream and the power of the low B is amazing. These gems don't pass every day in Europe! Ash body, maple 3 piece neck, palisander fretboard, 34" scale, radius 16" (estimation, it is quite flat, very comfortable).

Fender Jazz Bass 4 bolt maple neck (1973A). Quite a succesfull design... 😉 Black binding/blocks. Very old black over walnut finish (probably factory refin as they did in those days to comply with custom orders) white 3ply pick guard. Stackpole potmeters (1973), Fender pickups (1972). This bass has been refretted and a brass nut (a trendy repkacement in the late seventies/early eighties) is restored with a bone one. The bass plays perfectly with action as low as you wanna go. Pickup output is very powerfull. This beautiful thing really is as good as an early seventies Jazz Bass is gonna get and most certainly it won’t lose value either. A nice weight of 4000 grams/8.8LBS of groovy funky jazzy coolness. Looots of Geddy Lee , Chris Squire, Larry Graham and Marcus Miller vibes. Comes with (later) Fender case

Japanese Sadowsky 5 string in very good condition with all the 70’s DNA a five string Jazz Bass could possibly have. Ash body, maple neck/board, bound neck, block inlays. Pickups in 70’s position providing for more clear and tight sound options. Bass is fitted with new Sadowsky single coils and new pre amp with VTC. I can reïnstall the original Sadowsky humfree pickups and pre amp (with no VTC) if desired. Frets are like new and provide for action as low as you like. This is quite an early UV70 which means the neck is not reïnforced with graphite strips as the woods were still top quality. Maybe I am delusional but in my hands I feel a more organic bass that sounds more like wood than the later ones. Not better, but different. Comes with the well known Sadowsky rectangular semi hard case. These are arguably the best '70's Jazz fivers around they are relatively rare (not sure, maybe hundreds or less exist) and they are not being produced anymore. On par with the NYC quality, not with any MIG and MIC I played. Offers considered.

Sadowsky NYC Original P (2005) Alder body, maple neck, BR RW board 20 fets, 9" radius, 1 1/2" Nut width (J), '59 burst, Vintage neck tint Hardware chrome Weight 3,74kgs Unique Sadowsky NYC. The only one I have ever seen. Action, weight, balance and entire playability is best of the best. Sound is deep like a Precision bass with clarity rather than that quacking Precision sound. Very smooth and well blending. Comes with original Sadowsky rectangular semi hard case.

The late Rick Turner created a lot of magic in the world of music. The first PA system ever for a band called Rare Earth. The first Alembics. And this Renaissance is one of the later evidences of his brilliance. This thing can sound as bassguitar, acoustic bassguitar and upright'ish: all the oomph, grind and mwaaaah you ever need at 2400 grams only. Bass is new and one of the last ones new built by the master himself.

Thanks for your supportive comments. These oldies have something special. Whether it is a different build quality or ‘just’ the ageimg of the woods I don’t know, but it feels like an old jeans, without the relic stuff.. just some minor honest playing wear. Considering the condition, the lightness and the extra set of pickups I think the price ia justified. New this would cost now over €5750. Then again: old woods versus new woods is easy math… -
