  1. Fantastic, deffo going to have a try at this one. Skills
  2. Fast sang the songs. I never saw them with Huey in the past but I really enjoyed the show. Exceeded my expectations. A fun night out.
  3. John Deacon Geddy Lee Pino Palladino (Billy Gould and Flea missed out)
  4. Fun Lovin Criminals in Newcastle last night
  5. There is a lot of Paul Young / Pino love at the moment.

  6. I was 14/15 and someone I knew was selling a cheap bass (I was looking) and they were playing in a school concert, so bought the bass and played Metallica Seek and Destroy and an original song called Demons of Sacrifice (probs 1991ish). Played with my friends and brother in a band after that. Other band I joined was in 2009 after responding to an advert. Played with them a few years before it fizzled out. Still waiting for my next band. I play guitar to a good level too so there are options but work (nights and weekends) spoils almost all prospects at the moment. My advice, take the first opportunity you can. You might think you are not ready but it will bring you on faster.

I did a Madness/Specials tribute set a few years back and transcribed lots of songs for that show. Love it.

I've played on a short run of the House House musical - great fun indeed

A few years back we played The 100 Club the day after Madness played there, I considered it an honour to hang my jacket up on Bedders` coat-hanger (they were all named).

  11. Great to see another F1 fan on here. I used to have a Dana Alvarez offset bass (black) and it had a huge cutout of Damon Hill in his Williams that I sellotaped onto the back. Sadly I haven't still got the bass (I should have kept it with Damon on the back)
  12. Bassline playthrus today: Lovefool (The Cardigans), Play The Game (Queen), Josephine (Tori Amos), Worry (Public Image Limited), Eyes without a face (Billy Idol), The Drummer (RHCP), Force Ten (Rush).
  13. Kula Shaker quite early on in the year was the last gig I was at. Great live band. 😎
  14. Looks like a fab event. Too far for me sadly (NE based) and just new to the Bass hat, but looks mega.
  15. Rush The Big Money... What a bassline! I already knew that obviously bus just had another play thru. Still needs some polishing but sounding better than last time a few months ago.

Yep - it's noodletastic. Geddy is so busy on this (although not as busy as Digital Man)

Hard enough to play, never mind sing and jig along the stage.

Great track - and the lovely Wal bass in the video too

  16. Very nice indeed. I can't see you having too much touble selling that. Echo EJWW's comment - looks amazing.
  17. Listening to Blu Detiger

  18. Currently learning more Rush as well as working on improving my slap technique (obviously unrelated)

I had a play-through most of Presto yesterday (bizarrely my fave and not a popular one). My second fave Rush album is Hold Your Fire. But yeah, wanted to get some Presto songs under my fingers.

Love Presto, and actually it has a lot of ‘comparatively’ sensible songs to play Bass on: Red Tide, Superconductor, Presto.
Love the chords on Chain Lightning, and the Verses and Middle 8 on Show Don’t Tell (don’t start on playing the rest!)

Presto gets a bit of stick, but I’ve never understood why as it’s a great album.

It also contains one the bands favourite songs, The Pass.

  19. Cutting a long story short, been a bass player for a long time (my son is of a similar age to when I started). We went to the local store to see what basses they had in earlier today. My son likes the Sub style basses, so I encouraged him to try one. They had a pre-owned Ray 4. Of course I had a try (I play a cheap jazz and precision copy mainly - must of my money has gone on six strings as I love both) and it was totally different to what I was expecting. Really nice and easy to play, great for slap and fingers. Not sure what strings were on, but guitar had a nice loose tension. Was thinking about getting a nice jazz (Sire or CV, passive) but after playing this Ray 4 it has me thinking again. I love trying out guitars in store. I have a Thinline CV 60s after going in for a 50s CV strat a few years ago, and I think at some point a Ray 4 may appear. Really suprising when you get joy out of something you don't immediately think you will like. Hopefully I have attached a pic of the Ray 4. Just popped on to say that.
  20. Cheers gents. Thanks for the quick replies. Just wanted to save a few quid but i want it working more. Thanks for all the help. I will let you know how it all goes.
  21. First of all, thanks again for your amazing support. I had a look for an Op Amp. But i couldn't see anything that looks like this... which is an op amp on wikipedia. Also, i connected cables to the effects return ans get jack in crackles, so I think the speaker is working. I have obtained the amp schematic from here (http://music-electronics-forum.com/attachments/23084d1366992849-mag300.pdf) can anyone spot the op amo, which may help me actually locate it on the amp. Once again, I cannot thank you enough for your support. Chris
