  1. The Eric Custom T'Bird Pup is not 4-wire but sounds great and a second in the bridge position is the next step. Pickguard will the same dark red Tort.
  2. So I missed the Harley Benton Mustang-a-like first time round but bought one when the second edition went on sale. The plan was always to use the bass as an upgrade project. The bass is a fantastic instrument, great fit & finish, lovely neck ,light and well balanced. I saw all the upgrades others had done on the first generation ( Low End Lobster etc) but the @ped , @Andyjr1515 pathway really appealed. So stage one Eric Custom T'Bird bridge Pup from EY Parts fitted with the extra black pickguard surround to cover up the wider 'P bass Pup opening. I left the controls stock and I have been amazed with the huge tone from the EY T'Bird Pup. It's positioned 10ins from the 12th Fret, the so called short scale sweet spot. Stage two will be to replace the pickguard, upgrade the controls and add a second EY T'Bird in the bridge position. The cavity for the 3-position selector switch is very generous and I may replace the switch with a balance control with a mini chicken head knob. Very pleased so far!!
  3. What's wrong with black body dark red tortoise shell pickguard and maple neck and fret board 🙄
  4. Always good to have the marketing photography supervised by the dog and the Misses 🤣
  5. @BabyBlueSound have you been able to source a suitable gig bag or lightweight case?
  6. So far no issues, there seems a good balance across the 4 strings through an amp. Early days, but lets see how the strings bed in and settle down?
  7. NBD My black/Tort Mustang-a-like turned up yesterday. Very pleased with the purchase, all the previous comments and reviews by Lowend Lobster & Bassthe World are spot on. Excellent fit & finish, light weight, lovely roasted bound neck and great balance on a strap. The improvements of the tuners and 3-position Pup selector switch are just right and the Pups are loud and mid forward. Great P tones and the high gain bridge Pup adds just the right amount of honk to replicate a Jazz tone. I missed these the first time round but fate provided the opportunity to buy one of the later runs with the improvements that I would probably have done if I had purchased one from the first batch. I bought this as an upgrade platform to follow @pedand @Andyjr1515 lead with the mods to the '66 Mustang by adding a Gemini TBird Pup and swapping out the bridge Pup for a Warman Twin rail humbucker ( yet to be decided). Interestingly the 'P' Pup is exactly positioned in the short scale sweet spot, 10ins from the 12th fret, so the Genini TBird Pup should sound full and rich. Great value for money, JMJ on a shoe string( how do they do it?????)
  8. NBD Mine turned up yesterday. What a lovely fun little thing!!! Sounds great through my Fender Rumble 800 combo, very 'P' bass focused . Good balance across all strings. Fretboard appears quite dry so I'll sort that in the the coming days. Very pleased with the Olympic White / tort finish and amazingly well balanced on a leather strap. Just the job for sofa noodling.
  9. Thanks to @lksmks792 for the heads-up. Ordered a black/tort Mustang-a-like , missed these when they first launched so purchased on past reviews. I like the tuner and selector switch upgrade, HB seems to have listened to comments from the likes of LowEnd Lobster and BasstheWorld. Bargain JMJ for £200.👍
  10. Short scale just seems to be more comfortable and I can still last playing 2 hours pain free.
  11. Yup, still got all my short scale basses and still playing in one band. I really fancy a USA G&L Fallout, because the tribute I had for my 70th birthday is super and I hear that the USA ones are even better.
  12. Due to age, health, and deteriorating arthritis in my left thumb I have decided to say goodbye to three of my “Trophy” long scale basses. Trophy? Well, you know, at times during your working life funds pop up unexpectedly and you mark the event with, of course, a bass purchase. So, my ’72 Fender Telecaster bass, US Fender natural P Deluxe and MIM Fender FSR Seafoam green PJ. 2007 US Fender Delux, maple neck with carbon rods, light natural ash body 9v active. 2015 MIM Fender FSR Seafoam green PJ, adler body, bound maple neck ( Jazz width Geddy Lee type) black inlays. Goodbye my dears 🥹
  13. And here's my little bute.
  14. Ooooh Zoom Fanbois R Us 🤣😂🤣😂 ( B1 Four x2 + B6 owner)
  15. Do we know if the MS 60+ talk is Tonelib and Zoom Guitar lab?
  16. Wow, now that is a huge error. At least my B6 talks to Zoom guitar Lab so swapping patches from B1 Four is easy. It's hard to believe that the Zoom techies overlooked a desktop solution. I did have some GAS to build a new pedal board around a B2 Four, but your confirmation has doused that fire until a desktop solution appears. Thanks John
  17. Hi John, is my understanding correct that the B2-4 does not talk to Zoom Guitar Lab nor ToneLib? So the only way to edit is through the Apple App or on the B2-4 itself☹️
  18. Heads up Ibanez TMB 100 on offer at Amazon. £120 Apologies @Pauld has corrected my error. TMB 100 is 34ins scale. sorry
  19. I am a long time admirer of @kodiakblair builds his attention to detail and craftsmanship is second to none. Being a lazy sod I tend to seek the simplest solutions which are in the range of my more limited capabilities. As @kodiakblair has shown, we talking about 3mm, so if you have limited access to tools and routers it maybe worth considering gently sanding the heel of the neck to fit the body! Clearly you end up with a slightly nonstandard neck but if you don't plan to swop the neck then gently sanding the heel of the neck maybe a way forward. I agree with @kodiakblair that the Fender Hi-mass bridge should have enough travel to get the correct intonation. Best of luck with your build.
  20. This is very sad news. Met up with Nick when he bought my Fender Kinsman acoustic bass. Talked for ages, about rugby, bands and all things bass. Nick was a wonderful Guy and a real gentleman. RIP Old Horse Murphy
  21. +1 for the DiMarzio Ultra Jazz Pup. Powerfull, articulate and clear.(forgot to say that it is humbucking so silent) Check out the Dimarzio web site as they have some very fine power compareisons and tone charts. When ordering check the correct dimensions as the neck and bridge Pups are different lengths.
  22. Absolutely lovely @scrumpymike. Body looks sooooo lush with a lovely maple neck. I'd be really interested to hear how the mix of the single coil neck Pup blends with the MM Stingray Pup. Congratulations on your latest acquisition,. BTW Have told Mrs Scrumpymike or are hiding it under the bed when it's delivered while she's out shopping? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  23. NBD Squier Jaguar SS Back in August last year I bought one of the new Fender Limited Edition Mike Kerr Jaguar SS. Arthritis in my left hand has forced me to move from 34 ins scale basses to short scale 30 ins basses. After new strings, Gotoh bridge and setup I have fallen deeply in love with my Barbie bass, yes Tigger orange, wide range humbuckers and gold hardware. I have been hoping that Fender would launch a Squier Jaguar SS with the same humbucking Pups as the Rascal. In the meantime, up popped a 2015 Squier Jaguar SS which I nabbed within hours of it appearing for sale. The previous owner had a luthier to refinish the body in metallic sliver and refinish the colour matching headstock with clear poly and naughty (But nice) Fender Jaguar Bass logo. The Squier now sports my favourite DiMarzio Split P Pup and DiMarzio Ultra J (neck) Pup in the bridge position. It's necessary to use the neck J Pup at the bridge because the combination of 38mm nut, 30ins scale means that the pole pieces do not align perfectly if you fit the J bridge Pup. I rewired the controls to add a 3-x position switch with master volume and tone and also adding a 0.5 mF capacitor rather than the DiMarzio recommended 0.33mF capacitor. A 3D Guyker bridge replaced the standard Squier bridge and helps provide perfect pole piece alignment and perfect balance, no neck dive on knee or strap. I have successfully used the DiMarzio Split P Pup on a few Bitsa builds, it's a fantastic Pup, it’s powerful, articulate, with a huge range of tones. In my search to match a single coil bridge Pup to the Split P I concluded that the DiMarzio Ultra J was the best fit. The DiMarzio website has a very nice set of data sets and graphics which show the tone and power characteristics for each of their Pups. The Split P has a reference output of 250 which is the same as the Ultra J. That 250 output is far higher than the new Relentless P and J Pups so I am pleased that there is a nice balance between the Split P and Ultra J so avoiding the normal drop off of gain when switching from P to J . The Ultra J is humbucking so is free from hum associated with single coil Pups. Happy Days
  24. Please could someone walk me through how to delete images? Please ignore!!! All sorted. Poor eyesight 🤣
