1. What I have so far is: PRE sagrado poblano picoso COMP pale green MILD OD cream pie HARDER OD green giant FUZZ bazz fuss Seems to be the designs are simple, verified and good sounding. I'll do a bit more research on the DI and ways of modeling the sound on the dirts and start prototyping. I though of adding a matrix so IZ could swap the effect order but truth is I'll probably leave the sounds as they are when I find something I like.
2. That'sactually not a bad idea. I've been using my amp (mb200 super tiny and lightweight) as a di whenever I needed one but it would be wise to add it to the box. I'll look for some good designs, I haven't yet looked into that at all. Thanks!
3. Thanks man . It's been a bit elusive what to pick as usually they involve building the opto-coupler yourself with an LED and a photo resistor, and this affect immensely the response of the pedal. I still have to check with my electronics-savy friend in which design is it possible to use a vactrol so it's only the circuit affecting the sound and not my hand work.
4. I've been fooling around with pedal mods for a while and I've come to the idea of building an analog stompbox with a few handy things. Nothing too fancy, so far I think it will be enough having some kind of: preamp, mild overdrive, distortion and a wild fuzz. Nothing that hasn't been done before. Ive been doing some research and there are nice schematics available, tried already, which I would only have to tune to my liking. I'm leaving out modulation effects as the only thing I use that's not dirt is an octaver which I wont be able to improve by doing it myself. For this kind of thing I'd also put some effect loop in the box. Questions for you people: would you add/remove something to this? Is there a tried and true DIY compression you coukd recommend? Most of the designs seem to be based on the opto-coupler concept and I'm not sure how better off I could be doing it myself. Cheers!
5. Thanks everyone! I'll try changing the leads, I think that's the most likely tobe failing here, and I actually have very cheap ones, I just haven't thought about it.
6. Hi everyone! I've started experiencing a sudden tone suck with the sa!e gear I was using before without issues. The gear is my Cort B4, polytune, bass big muff, dv mini dist (same as the markbass) and a mooer tender octaver. This is all Powered by a one spot type power source. If I use only the tuner the sound is fine. But when I connect a second pedal it gets horribly muffled. I tried changing the order, putting the tuner up front (thinking the buffered output could be of some help), daisy chaining from the tuner pedal and from the power source but regardless the tone dies whenever there is a second pedal, no matter which one. What could be causing this? It's throwing me off especially because of the spontaneity. It was working perfectly fine before! Thanks in advance for all the tips!! Cheers
7. I get that we are artist with more or less commitment to pushing the boundaries and making interesting stuff. But the bottom line is that we are entertainment. We have to show/prove that we (our bands) are the better alternative for a saturday night. For better or worst on a given night out most likely art will come second. It's in our best interest to put on a great show so people want to actualky spend time (and their money for the ticket eventually) at our gigs. The balance between those two things are bound by the ability or a creative decision I suppose. And without any intention of pointing fingers, if the promoter didn't manage to bring a crowd then he probably did something wrong. Still I think there is a point, at least if the absence of a crowd was the exception and not the norm. No matter how small the crowd is, the idea is to share what you created with people that can appreciate it. It's just a matter of choosing the right venues for your crowd.
8. I'm a happy owner. I use it in a hard rock trio with a moderate drummer and guitarist through a 2x12 4 Ohms box. I'm always at about 10 o'clock. Still lots of power on tab. And it fits on the effects case with cables and all.
9. excellent- thanks for the comments! I'll try it this weekend and see how it goes...
10.
I've done this, and it does work. Used the aux in to run a drum track whilst auditioning a keys player while the drummer was on holiday, and could play bass at the same time, which I'm not sure you'd be able to do if you plugged your audio in to the effect return. EDIT: Err, I must be half asleep - you wouldn't be able to use the effect return anyway, as the MB200 doesn't have an effect loop!
hey! thanks for that. what did you use to play the tracks? phone, laptop?
11. Hello everyone! We are shooting a video clip with the band this weekend and we were thinking of using the bass amp with its aux input to play the track. I looked at the owner's manual and the Aux In seems to be before the power stage, which makes sense, but still would like to have some kind of confirmation from any of you that it should work alright as I won't be getting near the thing until the weekend. I'm hooking the amp to a 4 Ohm box, so I'm getting the 200 Watts out of it. Thanks in advance!
12. I bough a second hand B4 recently and I'm very pleased. not entirely with the preamp (it has an on/off swith luckily) but the build, feel and overall sound is excellent.
13. I recently got a DV mini dist (the Markbass off brand or guitar brand, IDK) and I'm very happy with it. I think the fact that you get two knobs, one for bass and one for treble, makes it very easy to shape the low end and keep the sound consistent (if that's what you are after) between on/off. 9/10 would recommend.
14. I'm a happy owner of one and I use it as a main amp. loud thing! I run it through a 2x10 in a hard rock trio and I'm always around 9'
15. Hi everybody, ended up coming to terms with my Bass Soul Food so I'm giving away this two pedals. Lot of praise has been written already. These are clones of the OCD and the Tech 21 Character, Blonde respectively. I'm in Austria, but I can ship anywhere. POSTAGE INCLUDED, btw. I have the packaging of some stuff I bought recently so the pedals will be safe. Cheers!
16. I'm probably the only one here, but I got it a few days ago with very high hopes and I'm not thrilled at all with this thing. is way too mild, altough it sounds good combined with the UD. I'm thinking about sending it back- not really worth the price for a so mild overdrive.
17. can you confirm if it is true bypass?
18. I wanted to mention the little bear as well. I got it from amazon (but from the same seller as in aliexpress). it does everything as in the video, but somehow I expected a fuzz to be a little less brutal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1Y7kQ5aV8I
