  1. Well it's taken over 20 years but I decided to do a fret polish on my P bass as they were turning green in places. I was so happy with the result I restrung it with the rounds that were on it instead of the new flats I'd bought....sorted now though.
  2. I use Shure SRH940 for practice and for mixing through GarageBand. They look awful imo but sound great and I wear them for hours on end with no discomfort.
  3. Interesting, I've got one and almost bought another from Reading last year, it was a natural finish one not the burst which I have....still regret not getting it.
  4. I've had my BassRig '64 a few months now and I so happy with it. I practice at home using GarageBand on my Mac whilst playing along to iTunes tracks or YouTube. Since getting the '64 I just don't want to put my bass down. I can get some great tones and when playing along to YouTube tracks where the bass has been removed I'm as happy as a pig in stinky poo. I must admit at first I was a little overwhelmed with it but after a week or so of just playing around I started to get the feel of it. I got to grips with changing the blend and drive whilst leaving the output set in place keeping the volume at one level mostly. At first I was getting a synthy tone where I pushed the drive too much and I thought that's a tone I'll never use but a band member asked if we could try cover a Muse number and this pedal gets pretty close to the sound. The band I'm with like overdriven bass in a lot of their numbers which previously wasn't my kind of sound but I'm starting to enjoy with the BassRig. I paid full price for this and think it's well worth it. I really think it the best thing I've bought since my BB2000 back in the 80's... no joke. Right... back to playing.
  5. Took a 1999 Fender American Standard Precision as a trade against one of these today. Had 3 to try one being a sunburst, which I would have preferred but would have been happy with a blonde. Surprisingly I returned home with my bass as I was pretty sure I would have pulled the trigger on one of the 54's on offer. I wasn't too impressed with the set up on 2 of them but 1 was bang on for me and also this one also had the best grain showing though. Sadly though I just wasn't feeling any of them. I understand some can't get on with the neck but this was fine for me and I can't put my finger on what it was but we just didn't gel. Have to say the staff at Absolute Music Bournemouth were excellent in every way, also had a tech there to adjust anything if need be.
  6. I'd been to many CH gigs and have a couple of their Cds, STFCS and PM. I bumped into you while on holiday in Lynmouth many years back, chatting about your Orange set up.
  7. To add to my previous post, I bought the dvd many years ago and had a look through again since this thread came up...gotta mention Paul Young with Alison Moyet also Sade and The Pretenders. Gunna have to give credit to Adam Ant also, not sure why he got so much stick. It's weird but for me it was a big deal in my life, just as much as The Hungerford Massacre, Diana accident, and 7/7. I find it quite interesting that it didn't register on some peoples radar on this forum. Not a criticism but just opened my eyes in my older age....we're always learning.
  8. Wunderhorse in Bristol on Oct 25th as long as they don't cancel. Unfortunately they have had to a few times in the past few months fingers crossed.
  9. Diana Krall - Love Scenes......I'm listening on an old Cyrus Audio CD player through some 1990's Castle speakers, just sounds fantastic. Christian McBride sounds great. Stand out track this time is...My Love Is. when I first bought this cd Peel Me A Grape was my go to track.
  10. I was into U2 at the time and couldn't be arsed to pop along to Wembley for a few numbers. I'd gone to Milton Keynes to see them a few weeks before so stayed at home and watched on the box. A decision I still feel was a mistake. Not much of a Queen fan at all but they were excellent, Simple Minds across the pond did a good spot I thought....not sure what went on with Bob Dylan and friends though. I thought it was a pretty good day to be fair.
  11. Removed MXR Bass overdrive and replaced with Bassrig '64
  12. I was hoping to find some Wunderhorse on iPlayer, unfortunately no luck there so tuned into Jockstrap instead. Sadly had to turn off after 2 minutes as the misses came in to join me😜
  13. String break and it's always the E, not always the same bass or string manufacturer. I must admit I don't play as much now and have not had it happen in the last 100ish gigs but would always have a spare even at rehearsal.
