1. I've just found with upright, I needed more power for our loud gigs. Currently using an Iamp800, this does the job with the upright. I've used an Aggy db410, Trace 410, Ampeg 410 now using a GS 412, loud yes, but the Iamp just does the louder upright job better. Sorry man, don't get down South much.
2. Bump £425 for the amp, need to keep the case. Afraid I won't be shipping It due to a recent shipping disaster putting me off! Near to Glasgow If anyone wants to try It out.
3.
......Head still available yes...£375..p/x???
I Don't believe It...........just went and bought one this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't think you still had It, ah well, bump for an amazing amp, at this price you'd be mad not to buy It!
4. Thanks. Also wondered about any big differences in volume between both(the lm11 & 800), cheers. If there wasn't much in It volume wise, I might buy the Markbass, If It is much warmer sounding, sounds right up my street. I hate having to over EQ to get rid of honking mids with my upright.
5. Wondered if anyone had A/B'd the two. Love the Iamp800, I was worried at first It would be sterile, but It's got a solid bottom ed for upright, and the EQ is very useable, just curious if anyone can throw some light on sound differences between the two. I've come across a 2nd hand LM11 for sale and wondered if It would be for me. Playing upright, I like a deep woody scooped tone, old school jazz sound (with some slap thrown in)...............
6. I use the K&K Rockabilly pickups with a D-tar Solstice preamp. I just find It to be a better preamp than the K&K Rockabilly one for mixing two pickups. Rockabillybass.com is a good place to find the K&K's second hand if you haven't asked on there yet. They're good pickups on one bass, not on my other, I use a Planet Wing bridge pickup mixed with a Schaller oyster under the fingerboard into my Solstice on the other bass. The King Dollhead is worth a look too if you want a bridge and clicky set-up.
7. Yeah, definately want to have a look. Two basses in the house at present, always room for another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure my wife will be over the moon. e-mail : [email protected]
8. Hi Deaky, Still got the Kay? Definately interested. I'm in Glasgow, am I far away from you?

10. If I can shift my Ampeg head, I'll buy the head. I'll Let you know when I do, hopefully you've still got It.
11. I Love plain gut G & D for digging into. The Gotz/Goetz have been about the most consistant for cheaper Guts.
12. Nice bass for a laminate, the price.......the last excelsior I saw sold for about £500. That was a later one though. Golden strads(the earlier ones ) come up now and again, It would need to be really special for that price. PS Mine cost me £250.
13. I'm looking to up size from my Aggy DB410, I'm interested in the cab, how Is it to move around? I know It's not as heavy as an 8x10, but does It move easier than one? Cheer mate, Sy.
14.
Hey Sy that would be great cheers, I'm going to try and catch you guys at the Glasgow Rhythm and Blues festival looking forward to it. The Chihuahuas are playing in the Griffin next Friday if you are around, we have a new fiddle player but haven't been able to get the box player and the him playing in the same room yet so it might be a bit of a rammy!
Great stuff Stevie, I'll try and get in next Friday, no had a good rammy fur a while. The Silver Slaps are good if you're playing mostly slap, for more pizz the Inno Rockabilly' are probably better. They project a bit more & are a bit growlier, not tried the Super Silvers though, could be nice too. Not tried bowing the Silver Slaps.
15. You can also pick up the shadow underwood clone cheap, sometimes on Ebay uk, and on Ebay.de also.I bought one not long ago for about £15 unused. Good pickup for the dosh, picks up the slap ok, depending how It's EQ'd. I use an underwood, with a pintech drum trigger or Schaller Oyster for the slap. I mix It with a D-tar Solstice(pricey but the best mixer/pre amp I've used and I've tried most). Stevie, about the Silver slaps, I've got them on one of my basses just now, If you want to try them before you buy give me a shout, and you can try them on my bass sometime.
16. The JJ's are a very good replacement for the money. I also managed to source a NOS Mullard 12ax7 & 12au7 for less than a fiver, in v1 & v5 made a big difference to the warmth of my amp. Just my findings, but the JJ's are very good for the price.

20. I've got an old German ply. I've got a Planet Wing on the bridge and a schaller Oyster under the fingerboard mixed into my D-tar Solstice, that into my old SVT3PRO then my Aguilar DB410. Also a Nortoncustoms Sam Shen ply, which I've got an underwood on, both basses loud and woody sounding through this setup. The D-tar is nice for my uprights. I used to use the Fishman Pro EQ Platinum, but prefer the D-tar.
21. Yeah, It's so much nicer in all respects than the new ones. Played through It again tonight, man I wish this thing just had more volume.....................
