  1. Still get on with my Underwood, I keep going back to It. Old workhorse, It can be a bit scratchy and honky if you don't eq It right. The bassmax is nice for the money, you get good volume, a nice woody sound even string response and doesn't feed back too easily, The full circle is a good pickup, I've only used It once though, but faithful acoustic, rounded sound and decent volume. The realist is nice at lower volumes. I found If you try and play a loud gig with It, forget It. I always had feedback issues. As for eq, the Fishman pro EQ platinum bass, make sure It's the bass one, is easy to use and has useful features. I use a D-tar solstice for blending two pickups now, this has been my favourite so far for my uprights.
  2. I've got the GS412, much easier to handle than an Ampeg 8x10. Well placed handles, good heavy duty wheels, I can lift It in and out my car myself. Sounds amazing too!!
  3. I'll be at our guitarist's tomorrow, so I'll take some pictures, and see what kind of price he wants. I've had alot of interest already, I'll PM everyone when I get a ball park figure.
  4. Our guitarist came across one of these in his music cupboard. It's new in the box, never used, still plastic wrapped. The date on the warranty registration is 25/02/1992. Don't have a clue what this would be worth now, but he's not interested in using It. Someone want to make him an offer? It's a stereo valve preamp with clean, crunch & lead channels, built in tuner, and footswitch. Thought I'd post It on here first, I'm sure someone would be after one of these, as I said unused, sealed in the box. If anyone's intereted I'll post pics. Also It's still in the wrapper, so It's not tested, I'd do that though if someone Is interested, just to make sure all Is well with It.
  5. Stay away from the BP100!! Much better pickups out there for the money........
  6. I'd love to go 2 DB212's. I'll need to do my measurements, but maybe a DB212 and a Db210 would fit in the car, slightly smaller than 2 212's. A single cab would be most realistic though, so my head tells me to go for the single DB410 at 4ohms again, but in Tweed this time. Mr Foxen, It you want first shout when It's going that's fine, only problem Is I'm near Glasgow.
  7. I love my Aguilar GS412 cab. It's the nicest sounding cab I've had so far. It's big, but not too bad to move thanks to the wheels, and the sound more than makes up for It. Previous to this I had a DB410, which I also loved. For It's size It was amazing....now.... I'm an upright only player, and need to change my car soon, downsizing, which means I won't be able to get my GS412 in along with my Doghouse and everything else. I don't want to lose too much volume, so Do I go back to a DB410 again? as I know and love the sound, and It was plenty loud for a small(ish) cab, with good fat bottom end, or do I go 2 DB112's or even a DB212, as I love the sound of twelves now? I just don't know If the 2 DB112's/DB212 will cut It in a loud band with my upright, as I don't use the PA for my bass. Oh and I'll be going tweed this time if I go for Aguilar. Thoughts and experiences with other cabs that would solve my big bass sound issue, would be greatly appreciated guys. I use an older American SVT3PRO and an IAMP800 as amps..........Apologies to the guys who were interested in my SVT, my illness was worse and lasted longer than I could have imagined.
  8. Gut strings, Underwood stereo wired with a schaller oyster under the fingerboard into a D-tar Solstice, into Iamp800, into Aguilar Gs412, huge, woody, deep acoustic bass sound. Underwood into the Solstice or Fishman pro plat into old SVT3pro then 2 Aguilar DB112's, got a lovely sound too. Depends what kind of sound you're after though, and how loud you need to be on stage. I don't play through the PA much, so my loud backline suits me.
  9. No problem man, It's a fantastic pickup. If I was playing pizz only, I'd never have got rid of It. No dispute, It outshines the rest for pizz in every respect, so well made too, wish everyone would use quality materials like that!Glad you like it.
  10. The shadow served me well for years, preferred the Underwood though. Remember to fit the E side only, It cancels out the phase issues, giving a deeper bottom end also. For anyone mailing me about the Planet wing, my personal messages don't work on this site for some reason ( as can be seen from previous posts), I can be contacted at [email protected].
  11. I've got a brand new condition Planet Wing pickup that I'd sell, the copper plated fibreglass version. Open to a reasonable offer.
  12. Hi Kev, My mail account doesn't work on here, hasn't worked for some time, don't know why, the PC just hangs up when I try to use It. Send me a mail at [email protected] , & we'll sort something out. Cheers mate. Sy.
  13. Sorry mate, got a quality DI at the moment, thanks for the offer though. From the way things have gone trying to sell the amp, I'm sure It will still be around for a while.
  14. I'd take a decent offer for It just now. It's in A1 condition, looked after very well from day 1, and US made. I thought It would sell no probs, after seeing others sell for the same price on here. Some places are looking for nearly a grand for this now.... and They are Vietnam made. A shop in Glagow was looking for £600 for a used one early in the year, and that was a newer one...................... I'll just need keep It on. As I said I'll take a decent offer, or an interesting trade. SSSSSKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTTTTTT
  15. Didn't sell on Ebay although there were 12 watchers, and loads of questions regarding It. Have I overpriced this? What do you guys think? or Is everyone just skint like me? Seriously need to shift this quick, selling off other stuff too, to keep the peace in the house. Someone make me a sensible offer please, and It's yours. Pickup prefered. Cheers.
  16. I've had a few pm's. My mail account on here doesn't work. [email protected] for any questions, and I'll get straight back to you, Cheers, Sy.
