  1. Would you sell the Gamut D string Spencer? Been looking to try one of them for a while. Also is it a wrapped gut or plain gut A you're interested in trying? Sy.
  2. Over 4,600 views. Am I off with the price guys? Or is it location? Or is no one interested in big cabs now:)
  3. I've played most of the popular strings for slap over the last 25 (GULP) years. Rotos are ok on one of my basses, not on the other. I find them a bit twangy and don't like the feel of the E & A. For slap, a good mix is Innovation silver/golden slap E & A with Gut G & D. The superior Tricore E & A are also nice. They sound very like a wrapped gut string to my ears. Lenzners are nice too. The best playability/sound I've found is Oliv E & A with plain guts on top, especially for slap, but the Olivs are really expensive.
  4. Hi, is the cab still available? PM'd on the 5th. Cheers, Sy.
  5. The Olives have huge fundamental, but can sound a bit quiet when you are playing the bass, but stand 10 feet in front and you can feel the thump. They have a slightly higher tension than the round wound cheaper guts you can buy(Lenzner/Efrano etc). The A is great, the E can sound a bit dead depending on bass. The E works on both my basses. For the D & G it depends on the bass. I have medium guage on an old German ply and these are loud and project well. On my Shen I have old guts which are slightly smaller, don't sound as loud, but that bass amplifies soo much better. Live, using an Underwood. It just works with guts. How much are the CH Chordas going to cost you?
  6. Is that not Carlos H? If so, he has his own custom gauge guts available from Pirastro. They're Chordas, the Carlos H version. They're a bit thinner in gauge, especially the D, which can be slow to speak if the gut is thick. My Olive E & A with plain guts on top sounds much like that too, wish I could play like that though!
  7. Hi Daf, looking to see if I can try these out please? I've bought a few sets of Golden Slaps over the years, but like a bit more tension these days. Interested to see if these will fit my needs prior to buying. Do I PM you my address details if they are available for trial? cheers, Sy.
  8. Underwood user here too! What's the length of the cable from pickup to jack? Cheers, Sy.
  9. Sounds interesting. Were you running a pair of GS112's? I'm running a GS 412 at present and find it a bit mid scooped for my double bass, and was toting with the idea of running 2 focus 410's. In direct contrast to the Aguilar cabs, how do they differ tonewise? And how does the focus handle volume? On paper it's sensitivity looks quite healthy. Thanks, Sy.
  10. Interested in these cabs, but never heard them. How are the mids with these? and what's your overall opinion of them tonewise? Cheers, Sy.
  11. Sad you need to let this go....wish I had the cash right now, I've always wanted a Framus, good luck with the sale, very cool bass.
