  1. Exactly my rig !
  2. This is the same fretted bass Alain Caron uses all the time, as the Replica has a bolt-on neck ... which is not the same. Hugues is also a fantastic and sympathetic person to deal with. 👍
  3. I have this :
  4. Just called Thomann right now and the preamps will be in stock next week. Yesss !!!
  5. Looks like I'm not going to get one, even if it was still available when I ordered it, it's now sold out for me too. 🤬
  6. I had the very heavy battery fitted PJB Briefcase and these GSS is way more better in terms of sound and portability. On mine the battery is fitted at the back with a switch to allow charging without disconnecting the battery. And the battery lasts for hours and hours, really the 12 hours announced. The sound is very close to my big system (1000 Watts amp + 1580 Watts special speaker) without the impressive headroom of it, of course, so very transparent. I simply leave everything flat and only boost the bass EQ to half the maximum. If you add a second speaker (8 Ohms, not 4 Ohms), you'll get the extra 100 Watts of the second power amp as it's a 2 x 100 Watts (under 8 Ohms) head. I've done it and you get more headroom (who would have bet this 🤣) and more of everything, allowing you to put the bass EQ back to the flat position. For more power and headroom, you can add a second same speaker : https://www.guitarsoundsystems.com/Mobile/gss-06bc200-1x65-mini-bass-cabinet-c2x16355854 Or even order directly the 2 speakers pack with all the necessary cables : https://www.guitarsoundsystems.com/Mobile/gss-26b400-uk-3-prong-mini-bass-amp-c2x14975103 Pay attention that it's intended for small (acoustic) gigs, practising or rehearsing, not for the Hammersmith Odeon. 😎
  7. I totally understand your point of view. That said, I explained what I meant by dull sounding : lacking huge harmonic content, which is exactly what a dull sounding instrument does. The funny thing is that it is exactly what some people are searching for, especially those after vintage instruments and to be sure it's definitely dull, they put dead flat wounds strings on these basses and sometimes mute them when playing.
  8. Here they are. The combo : https://www.guitarsoundsystems.com/Mobile/gss-06b400-uk-3-prong-mini-bass-amp-c2x14812095 The battery pack : https://www.guitarsoundsystems.com/Mobile/7s35v2-intelligent-lithium-battery-pack-for-guitar-sound-systems-mini-bass-amps-c2x18346407 The carrying bag : https://www.guitarsoundsystems.com/Mobile/custom-padded-bag-for-gss-06b400-mini-bass-amp-and-gss-08gcxxx-guitar-cab-c2x14812542 Hope the links are not corrupted.
  9. I may also consider this : https://www.guitarsoundsystems.com/Mobile/gss-06b400bh-100-watts-mini-bass-amplifier-head-c2x24693748 I have the ultralight combo version of this head with the battery pack and it's very useful (and very well sounding too) for small gigs, practising and rehearsals.
  10. Oops, just ordered the Warwick Hellborg JH PR40... 😁
  11. Because they were originally released in 2007 and Thomann is just selling the whole back stock. That said, it's a terrific offer and I'm still tempted by the fabulous preamp...
  12. Don't forget these brands : Acoustic Image, certainly the best choice when it comes to small footprint and lightweight heads with a lifetime warranty to any owner (the first or 100th). GRBass, another promising Italian brand. Quilter. ...
  13. I really do like the look of naturally worn instruments and in the meantime I love brand new shining basses. What a dilemma when it comes to choose one would you say ? Not at all, just play both and pick up the best sounding one and the most ergonomic too. And it won't be the worn one as you would bet even if they are history pieces for sure, most of the time they are just dull sounding. If you don't believe me, try to make the blind test that we've all been through, you'll be surprised by your favourite instrument under these conditions. This test has also been conducted many times with the famous Stradivarius compared to modern designed violins, and even the best players acknowledge that the Stradivarius sounded dull, lacking huge harmonic content, compared to a modern violin crafted by a real master luthier. Sad but true. I've sold all my vintage instruments (and I've owned a lot) when I decided to listen with my ears and not my eyes, or even worst my emotions, and I don't even mention the retail value syndrome here. That said if I had a ridiculous amount of money to throw away, I would buy one of these history pieces, just to hang it on the wall as it's a beautiful work of art when correctly worn... Won't make friends, I know. 😉
  14. Urm, we were talking about the A series, not the passive one. 😉
  15. Read below. 😉
  16. PM'ed
  17. Thanks for the answer, but the shipping fee to Belgium will void your price, turning it to a way higher level.
  18. EUR or UK power supply ?
  19. Around £3500 GBP for the same model...
  20. Not exactly the same as the BN4 PJ of Scott Devine, but a terrific bass, this AC5.
  21. The original ones, indeed, as it was a regular P/J configuration. To me, the best match would have been metallic surroundings for the new pickups to keep that Yamaha touch, but I got it already modified with these Bartolini pickups, a Glockenklang 3 bands EQ with 4 knobs and this pickguard à la Stingray.
  22. I found what you need : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/P-bass-guitar-stereo/192812451290?hash=item2ce48485da:g:5IIAAOSwQEtbKWy0&redirect=mobile And your missus will have spare money for extra sets of Fender strings. 😁
  23. New fingers ?
  24. Loads of strings, that's always useful. A new little portable bass combo like those wonderful GSS 06B400. A Tech 21 Q/Strip pedal preamp for that Shuker.
  25. As it's written a few times : heavily modified !
