It's fine totally unplugged, with a weaker sound than, say, a double bass, of course, but with its true acoustic sound totally audible. I'm waiting for your explanations, but if I remember correctly, you are a processed sound bass player (I mean effects in the signal path and distortion is an effect) and not a dry sound bass player (flat amp without any effect), so there is already something biased. No ?

For those able to read in French, here is Félix SAVART mémoire about strings vibrations and the trapezoidal violin, published in 1894. Don't worry, there are images too : https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k9666718w/f351.item The whole Roret Encyclopedia about Luthier is really worth a reading, but I'm afraid that there's no English translation...

Don't you have feet with toes way up North ? Or maybe the zoo keeper doesn't allow you to use them ?

Use the bebop double bass player trick : put a very little bit of vaseline behind one ear or both and when you can't slide anymore, just touch the vaseline pellicle with your fingers and you'll play beyond speed limit. This trick is used by Tina Weymouth for long gigs. 😉 That said ears are naturally greasing too, but it's a bit disgusting.

Most of you seem to forget that as the "Luminlays" are activated by UV, simple outdoor light works as well as there are plenty of UV's even without a bright sun. On the other hand, IR don't charge them, so remember that thick glass is a great UV filter, only letting IR through, which means it won't charge behind a double or triple glaze window. 😉

Bought a bass, again, from Victor. And as usual, it was a fast and easy transaction. As it was a partial trade too and that I had no more boxes nor case to ship mine, Vic accepted to send me his bass first and I sent him mine as soon as it arrived. What a pleasure to deal with such a great person. Cheers Vic.

The first quote is from a British sci-fi writer.

By the way, for what kind of birds is it intended @Teebs ?

Shipping instruments to the US - worth it or too risky?
Hellzero replied to Beer of the Bass's topic in General Discussion
Indeed, but they are in Appendix II (only controlled woods in this case) and part of an "old" musical instrument, so there's no need for a CITES certificate here. 😉 Check these links : https://cites.org/eng/disc/how.php https://cites.org/eng/app/appendices.php https://www.fws.gov/international/plants/current-cites-listings-of-tree-species.html -
Handles ?!? Are you planning to lift it with your band mates living in the carpet ?

Shipping instruments to the US - worth it or too risky?
Hellzero replied to Beer of the Bass's topic in General Discussion
I've shipped instruments and hi-fi gear all over the world without any problem, but I've always used a highly trustable courier, fully insured item(s), impeccable paperwork and bullet proof parcel. If the buyer wants to lower the declared value to pay less incoming taxes or change something in this method, my answer is always the same : NO. Your £500 GBP will end up costing him all in all more than $1250 USD...
