1. I hope so, i've been playing it that way for the last 2 years.
2. I'm considering selling my Shuker Jazz! In excellent condition. Shuker 3 band eq, Kent Armstrong Custom hum cancelling pickups, blue side leds with external dimmer, 34'scale. Active/passive switch. This picture was taken before I had Jon replace the Barts. They were too dark, neck p/up was lifeless. The KA's bought it back to life. I've used this bass for all styles but find In recent months I'm grabbing my headless 5 for most gigs. Only just decided to advertise so will list some more specs over the weekend. Looking for £900.00. This cost me close to £1700.
3. Up for sale is my EBS Octabass in very good condition. True bypass version. I'm looking to eventually go back to an all-in-one multi effects unit which is the only reason for selling. Will sell for £85 including postage.
4. For sale, my Wharfedale Pro 15'' Active PA speakers in very good condition. Comes with power cables. These are the model before current cosmetic change. Very flexible and a great overall balanced sound from these units as you would expect from Wharfedale. These have been kept in my garage in case needed but most of my gigs have FOH provided. Sorry no trades, straight sale only. Will upload pictures asap.
5. My Markbass NY 1x12 is available, in great condition. Only used on several laid back low volume gigs. 400 watts, 8 ohms, less than 29lbs. Would prefer cash on collection from South London or post for £25.00 within the UK. Sorry no trades as looking to clear some gear thats not getting much use at the moment. Picture to follow.
6. Time for a clearout so the first of several things I'm looking to move on. Genz Combo and matching cab in very good condition with heavy duty covers for both. Amp and speakers in good working order. Will upload picture when I have some free time. Looking for a firm £750 cash on collection as a sale, sorry no trades. No postage I'm afraid collection only from South London.
7. I was there too. Think I still have the A4 folder they gave out in my garage. Didn't learn a lot really as I only signed up to see Entwistle.
8. Anyone seriously considering the Bose system, take a look at the cheaper LD Maui 28. I know a couple of bands that use them and never looked back.
9. The last one I gigged with got locked up for 2 years. I don't think he knew JS.
10. I had the TC combo for a while and couldn't fault it for it's price and features. Tone print worked fine although not something to be trying to change mid gig as takes a few seconds, but the feature worked perfectly with some very usable effects from the TC app.
11. I'm doing a function this Saturday with one of the dv managers. Will try and find out if I stay sober in time to remember to ask.
12. How much were they selling that Streamer for out of interest? Found a site but no stock basses listed.
13. I've played with the internal mid control but it's not really helping. I'm going to spend a couple of hours with it again including playing with the action and pickup height, just to eliminate everything before taking it in for some pro help. Thanks for the comments.
14. Shuker's own. Pickups are Seymour Duncan MM/J.
15. Hi All, I'm thinking of replacing the circuit in one of my basses as when engaged it appears to be sucking out the punch in upper strings (D, G). Lows are incredibly thick and punchy, the highs gain the usual active zing but lose any thickness that was there in passive mode. I've started using the bass in passive which I do quite like but I'm missing the option to change tone on-board. So, must be 3 band eq, active/passive option. Any suggestions welcome.
16.
And I find Marcus to be repetitive. He plays a great groove but it's the same groove in 3 different tempos in 3 different keys. Go figure. No one is beyond criticism. But it's nice to just appreciate people making art.
Yep, we all have an opinion and most importantly we should be able to appreciate someone's ability even if not to our own taste.
17. Mark King is not to my taste either, much prefer Marcus if I have to listen to slap.
18. Bass or not, just listening without watching the videos was not pleasant to my ears. But good for them putting it out there as I'm sure many will appreciate it.
19. With me it's probably an age this as to why I do party bands at this time. Did the originals, record company thing in my early 20's then drifted into doing covers a few years later. Come to realise that what I enjoy most is playing in front of good crowds with good musos and getting paid for it. The past 10 years or so I have had the pleasure to play with some of the best musicians you could ever hope to find, and not one original song. On the other hand, I've done a few bands that could be tagged with the term 'soul destroying', so can appreciate some people may have a bad experience doing cover bands which may put them off for life.
20. This has got me thinking about my first basses (all left handed). Started with a Jenson, short scale £22.50 Followed by Watkins Rapier £50.00 Followed by the Mustang £150.00 Joined a band so bought a Precision from Chappells of Bond St (less than £300 I think) but couldn't get on with it, so swapped for a US Jazz. Used that for a couple of years and did my first studio work on the Jazz. 2 years later joined a more serious originals band due to tour Germany in a month so wanted to get something that I felt was right for that and found a lefty Wal Custom brand new in a shop in Romford for £680. Parents had to lend me the money. That was my only bass for 10 years into the 90's followed by Warwicks, carbon Schacks, Esh and the rest.
21.
Strange. I wish Fender Japan would make a lefty Mustang bass.
I had a US one in the early 80's. I remember buying it used for £150 in Shaftesbury Ave. Don't know if it was a good deal then or not, probably not. Wish I still had all my early basses.
22.
If no lefty instruments had been made and acoustic guitars had not been symetrical more leftys would of learnt the right handed way wouldn't they? Not many lefty orchestral players is there?
A lot would, and a lot wouldn't. I for one would never have had the pleasure of playing an instrument, making a living from it and seeing parts of the world many dream of. My life would have been completely different. Many true left handed players are not in orchestras, because of the lack of left handed instruments available at the teaching stage. Those who are could adapt, many cannot. In answer to the opening post.... I don't know.
23. I have a 4 channel Behringer mixer. Purchase around 15 years ago for stage in-ear monitoring control. Used 2-3 times a week for 4 years. Been in the garage for 10. Fired it up a few weeks back and works perfectly. My only experience of Behringer so far but a positive one.
24.
Well, you're correct it was The Who with Entwistle and I too saw them with him several times in early 70s. However, when I saw them with Palladino a few years back I was much happier with the bass. YMMV. I realise 99% of people will disagree with me.
Loved the Who back then and would be a real bonus to see Moon and Entwistle if were still around, but I'm very much looking forward to hearing and seeing a better/tighter rhythm section covering those songs. Probably an age thing.
