Total Watts

1. It was an amazing weekend. I think you're right - '86, as I had my Jaydee with the custom pickup and I think I got it in that year. Hopefully some other people will drop by that were there
2. You could be right. Bugger that - I'm not re-editing it, I'll just make a comment on the vid !! Memory's going lol !!
3. I finally got round to digitising some of my tapes from the Bass Centre's Bass Weekend in 1982. Only taken me 31 years. Sorry about that. Mind you I did have to wait for the Internet and Youtube to be invented ;-) This one's of John Entwistle performing and the Q&A session after. It was a fantastic performance - and very loud. Lucky tapes don't clip like digital eh ;-) He was playing his Warwick 'Buzzard' through a bunch of Gallien-Krueger amps. Guitar amps IIRC. I have great memories of that weekend - and some more performances on my walkman some place. Jonas Hellborg, Paul Westwood, Joe Hubbard & Neil Murray on an early Roland bass synth. Nathan King was in my class - I remember him being as good as his brother back then. I think he was about 15 ! Oh yeah - here's the link.
4. Cheers Mick. I'm on the Prozak now ;-) I'll get over selling it eventually lol !
5. Sold to Mick. Glad it's gone to a good home
6. My old beastie. Pre-Ernie Ball with the bridge string dampers and stuff. Lovely bass.
7. A bit of Jay Dee Memorabilia for ya. John gave me the original sign from the workshop in Moseley, before he moved to the next one way back in the 80s, when I had more hair and less gut ;-)
8. Hi Peeps, Whole bunch of JD porn in my Flickr stream here, from my visits to John's workshops over the years: http://www.flickriver.com/photos/reds42/tags/jaydee/ Enjoy
9. Sale pending peeps. Will advise when complete. Cheers, Nick.
10. Thanks Marcus It is... I have an old Status 2000 that I'll never let go, with a bit of a story to it. I think a few guys here owned it in the past ;-) Except for Nick Smith Dr. Bass maybe ;-)
11. Just to be clear - price is £1700. I made a typo in the initial trade value field and can't edit it.
12. Can't believe I'm actually selling this, but I just don't play much any more, since I got in to photography a few years back. So.... I have a 2002 MkI Status King bass for sale. £1700 Neck: Graphite through neck with Bendwell Body: Rosewood / Walnut Circuit: Status 'King'-Board-300 Pickups: Status Hyperactive Hardware: Gold Additional Features: 16.5mm bridge spacing & Front & Side Blue LEDs. With Status case and original paperwork from Rob. Goes without saying, it's a lovely instrument and really hasn't been played at all in the last few years. Never gigged - just taken to a few rehearsals. Pics attached. Hope it goes to a good home. Cheers, Nick.
13.
Aww! What are you doing Saturday nite?? Heheh! Thanks mate! Love you too! There's a lot of history out there - when the Net first started, there were many Yahoo clubs for most of the main bass makers (I co-founded the JD one, and setup clubs for Status, Pangborn etc), going back to around '97 - and we actually had quite a few get-togethers, including parties in London etc and of course, the famous JD 25th Anniversary open day in 2001. Yahoo Clubs then changed and they kind of trailed off a bit which was a real shame really.
Awww matey! I'd love a proper catch up some time. We must do it before the last strand of your hair goes and my last black hair goes grey on me. I feel like we're the old gentlemen of the net reading your old stories ;-) What was that first JD wesbite, before the yahoo group ??? Can't remember the fella's name who put it up. One day soon - I'll put up some of the video from the 25 year anniversary. Proper pre-Youtube that footage is !!! it's not great, so I'll have to edit the best bits out. I think I might just have sunk way too many Jack Ds at the JD !!!! (Some things never change). You just reminded me about Cookie's Man City bass too !! Mental. I've got a bunch of those old pics on Flickr, if anyone wants a look - they're at : - http://www.flickr.com/photos/reds42/sets/72157616505900933/ and some of my Bass & Guitar pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/reds42/sets/72157611491907794/ (Been in to photography a bit lately too!)
