  1. Thanks v much. Time for some googling!
  2. Can you expand on this? I'm aware that cabs are better off the ground but without knowing why. Ta
  3. @Stub Mandrel thanks for that (cool bass BTW!) I have thought about a traditional thumb rest like that, but I'm looking for something to sit vertically to use as a thumb "anchor" as opposed to a rest (pretty much the top of a bridge pup) if that makes sense.
  4. Cool, thanks for that. I've been playing my P today and thinking I could do with a little rest just where a jazz pup would be, then I see your post. Think I may see if I can get one 3d printed 👍🏻
  5. @mcnach can I ask where you got that thumb rest from please? Cheers
  6. Actually, on 2nd thoughts it was caused by my poor technique which was exacerbated by the compressor..
  7. I had the same problem which was caused by my compression settings. Basically, I play with a soft touch and have my compression pedal set as such. But, when I popped I tended to do so with a lot more force, so when I popped it compressed the signal way too much. As soon as I started popping with an equivalent light touch, it balanced out.
  8. The headstock's a shambles but the relicing on the body looks good.
  9. Fair play, I couldn't see for sure on the pics I looked at.
  10. I don't know for sure but looking at how harps and pianos are strung, they look to be straight pin to pin?
  11. That's what I'm saying! 😉
  12. There is another, albeit restrictive option if back/shoulder pain is the issue... https://www.dv247.com/en_GB/GBP/Koenig-Meyer-Guitar-Stand-for-E-Guitar-High-grade-chromium-plated/art-GIT0007352-000?campaign=GShopping/UK&ProgramUUID=HADAqJarPzAAAAFlea9yjI.G&campaign=GShopping/UK&programuuid=HADAqJarPzAAAAFlea9yjI.G&gclid=CjwKCAjw-4_mBRBuEiwA5xnFICZmoqqFlWo2FvJnNCtRSkT5knuuLmyaUnX3tVh6amXD9Opndg0MCxoCWYwQAvD_BwE
  13. ^this^ Not sure if I've ever broken a string, but I've had a bass develop a fatal fault on a big day for our singer so was grateful for a loan of the studios Vintage (brand) jazz. Think it cost them £80!
  14. True. Guess I'm lucky to have a 70s dimarzio humbucker in my PJ. Sounds huge 😉
  15. I've found that the bridge pickup tends to be more trebly so is very useful to dial in if I'm looking for more detail to be heard in the mix whilst retaining the P thump.
  16. That's very nice. Have a cheeky bid, you never know 😜
  17. Cheers fella, I want more! 🙄😁 Totally agree, it's just so comfortable and playable
  18. My little collection! I'm a huge Sandberg fan, the build quality is exceptional, I love the fret board radius & zero fret, the hardware is very very good, particularly the tuners on the TT, super smooth and very accurate. (left to right) - '16 TT4 Passive - Swamp Ash gloss finish + pearl block inlays. I've had to have a slight neck reshape done to this one as it was a little fat on the shoulders. This one's very light and sounds beautiful. Very pure if that makes sense... '14 Classic Special - Mahogany with Bubinga top, pearl dots + Delano pups. Stunning build and playability. The pups are very hifi but it sounded perfect in the neo soul band I was in a few years back. Didn't work at all for the funk & soul band I joined after, hence the passive TT! '05 Basic Ken Taylor - Ash body. This has also had a neck reshape prior to my ownership, whoever did it was a genius. The sound is massive, loads of tonal variation, if anything it's a little too complex for me, but it plays like a dream.
  19. Just an FYI, there's a couple of BF cabs fs on Facebook atm https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKBassgear/permalink/1533135776819752/?sale_post_id=1533135776819752
  20. Another Barefaced user here (Retro Two10). Highly recommended, very light, very loud 😁
  21. Cracking show this 👍🏻
  22. Its also worth spending a few extra pennies and getting the silent right angle jack https://www.amazon.co.uk/Designacable-Neutrik-NP2RX-AU-Custom-Length/dp/B007V049QI/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?keywords=designacable&qid=1556117571&s=gateway&sr=8-12
  23. Van Damme cable + Neutrik connectors 👍🏻
  24. No direct experience but try giving Alan Greensall @ Synergy distribution a shout, he works closely with Sandberg - http://www.synergydistribution.co.uk/Welcome.html
