  1. I bought the d800+ on a wave of ‘amazing amp/tone nirvana’ reviews to find it a bit tame for my tastes. I love the Walkabout and so my interest was instantly piqued when I heard about the WD800. But the truth usually lies in the post-euphoric reviews when the product is thoroughly gig tested with a variety of basses/cabs/situations. ...and ultimately for me how it compares to the original Walkabout. Will it replace or coexist with my Silverface?
  2. Reason has returned and I’ve managed to kill the Gas for now. There is way too much hyperbole out there so I’m going to hold off and see what emerges. I once owned the D800+ but preferred the BB750 and the WA, so I don’t want to go crazy and buy without trying out.
  3. Barefaced Two10s the best. Closest I can get to the old Ampeg sound G&L Asat was the worst. Totally characterless.
  4. That's what I thought, but Mesa is very reliable so may be worth the risk and save £200
  5. I've just gone through checkout and they seem to as they give you international postage costs. This is MesaHollywood
  6. I'm seriously considering buying one from Mesa direct. How would it stand with any warranty though. Could I use the warranty in the UK? I doubt this would be the case
  7. I'm thinking of purchasing a Mesa WD800 from the USA. Does anyone know if the warranty would be valid here?
  8. Maybe the umph was simply colouration that I missed. I tried the best part of a year and sought Alex's support with EQing - e.g, low mid setting etc but couldn't quite get what I had in my head. The Two10s changed all that! Amazing cabs out of the box with no EQ faff.
  9. Yep, I did exactly the same thing. I think for some the transparency just doesn't work. Even though loudness wasn't an issue, something was just missing. What I would describe as umph!
  10. I can testify to this as I had the same and it easily bossed in my punk band. Swapped this ST for Two10s and still the WA has no volume issues for me.
  11. Yeah, I’ve got the little bro bb750. Inspired by the live Mani sound. Amazing rock sound with great mids. The overdrive is very usuable.
  12. If I didn't have one already I'd be all over this one. Best amp I've owned
  13. I start with what do my fave bass players use and take it from there. The SVT pro 3 is a stalwart of many a punk/grunge/indie band and sounds great in band context. Personally I use Mesa Walkabout/bb750 and sounds great. Lightish weight and sound great live and solo use. Anything works with Walkabout imho, bb750 is a bit more difficult to match with cabs/basses.
