Indeed, changing due to tonal preferences in my current band. We play mainly punk music and the Ampeg fits the bit perfectly. But powerwise I’ve never found the WA lacking. Gain at 12 o’clock and up to 11 o’clock on master. I’d like to keep em all but not enough space sadly. There is a little bit more trouser flapping going on with the V4b for sure. Yet many say it lacks on the power side too?

Great 300 watt amp which is beloved by so many. Comes with the original manual and Mesa gig bag. In very good condition. I’ve had it for about 8 months and used it lightly for a handful of gigs and rehearsals with no issues. It does have 120v labelled on the chassis but as seen on the test certificate it is a genuine export model. I have an email from Mesa if this needs verifying by anyone. Collection from Birmingham or FREE shipping!

The WA AND ST are a great match - I had that setup before I moved to Two10s. There is no better match that I’ve heard anyway.

I bought the d800+ on a wave of ‘amazing amp/tone nirvana’ reviews to find it a bit tame for my tastes. I love the Walkabout and so my interest was instantly piqued when I heard about the WD800. But the truth usually lies in the post-euphoric reviews when the product is thoroughly gig tested with a variety of basses/cabs/situations. ...and ultimately for me how it compares to the original Walkabout. Will it replace or coexist with my Silverface?

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2018?
Sarlscharisma replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Barefaced Two10s the best. Closest I can get to the old Ampeg sound G&L Asat was the worst. Totally characterless. -
That's what I thought, but Mesa is very reliable so may be worth the risk and save £200

I'm thinking of purchasing a Mesa WD800 from the USA. Does anyone know if the warranty would be valid here?

Has anyone ever found a Barefaced Supertwin lacking?
Sarlscharisma replied to la bam's topic in Amps and Cabs
Maybe the umph was simply colouration that I missed. I tried the best part of a year and sought Alex's support with EQing - e.g, low mid setting etc but couldn't quite get what I had in my head. The Two10s changed all that! Amazing cabs out of the box with no EQ faff. -

Yep, I did exactly the same thing. I think for some the transparency just doesn't work. Even though loudness wasn't an issue, something was just missing. What I would describe as umph! -
Yeah, I’ve got the little bro bb750. Inspired by the live Mani sound. Amazing rock sound with great mids. The overdrive is very usuable.

It is me or are Ampeg hybrid heads a bit meh?
Sarlscharisma replied to BassManGraham's topic in Amps and Cabs
I start with what do my fave bass players use and take it from there. The SVT pro 3 is a stalwart of many a punk/grunge/indie band and sounds great in band context. Personally I use Mesa Walkabout/bb750 and sounds great. Lightish weight and sound great live and solo use. Anything works with Walkabout imho, bb750 is a bit more difficult to match with cabs/basses. -
