1. I bought these shortly before I made the jump to 5 strings so they aren't needed. They've never been opened or used. For anyone who doesn't know these are made at the Bass Centre (but don't let that discourage you) and are a good 4 string set. They used to be my primary brand of strings and I would compare them to the Roto Swing Nickels (except they tend to sound better aged), but don't quote me because it's been a while since I tried those! £8 shipped! Paypal or cheque fine. PM me, email me at [email protected] or call me on 07840504461.
2. I can't believe I'm doing this, but it's part of a carefully considered and precise plan to end painful GAS forever. Bass 1: 2002 Fender USA Precision 4 This bass is gorgeous and brilliant. You know what this is. It has no dings or scratches to speak of (obviously there's some minor surface scratches but you can't see these unless you hold it up to a light and look really close). It sounds just like a Precision should, great sound at all positions of the tone knob. The pickguard is a replacement, I'm keeping the original white one for sentimental reasons (it got signed by Vic Wooten at a Flecktones show - don't worry, there's no sharpie on the bass itself!). £600 shipped Bass 2: 1996 Fender USA Deluxe Jazz 5 SOLD!!!! This bass sounds soooo fat. It's one of the older Deluxe basses with the different preamp (sounds a bit better to my ears). I've done a little bit of recording with it and it sounded massive on the track. It's in very good condition, there's no real marks to the front of it and a little bit of buckle rash/scratching on the back. This comes with the black pickguard pictured and the original white pearloid. There are two screws on the body where the previous owner mounted a MIDI pickup once apon a time. I think it says it all that when I go to practice tomorrow and tell my band that I'm selling this, they will probably kill me. £710 shipped Both basses will come in hard cases. Paypal or cheque are fine. Like I say, I'm only selling these to fund gas, I'm afraid that this post will constitute the worst mistake of my life. They were both going to constitute essential parts of my arsenal but money problems and GAS mean they're on the block. The ONLY trade I will consider is one of the new Fender Precision 5s or a similar value Precision 5, unless you have anything truly rad. Just ask, the worst I can say is no! PM me, email me at [email protected] or call me on 07840504461.
3. I'm selling these because I never fitted these to the bass I ordered them for. They are brand new, perfect condition. 3 of them (as well as the accompanying screws) are unopened, I opened one out of sheer curiosity. A set like this costs £80+shipping from Allparts, I think £60 shipped is fair considering their condition. PayPal preferred, cheques accepted. I'll give these a week on here before they go to Ebay. Feel free to PM me, send me an email at [email protected] or phone me on 07840506641. EDIT: Should have said, these are the 1/2" posts, hence being a direct replacement for Fender tuners.
4. Bet some of you thought this was a youtube thread in the wrong forum! My numerous gear-related google searches have brought me a number of times to www.singingchicken.co.uk, where the prices seem too good to be true. Has anyone actually bought anything from them? They claim to be the web presence of Weymouth Music in Dorset. I'd buy stuff from them but the page looks so cheap and amateurish my scam-alarm is ringing.
5. The Bass Centre is famous for not giving two hoots about bass guitarists. The Bass Gallery is better, Guitar, Amp and Keyboard in Brighton is fantastic in this respect. Mark, who works in the bass department, is always amazingly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. That's the reason I bought my new Little Mark II from there instead of the Bass Centre, a shop which I'm fairly sure I will never return to.
6. Sorry man, this has already gone. Should have updated the thread. Good luck!
7. I like the sound of the Yamaha best, it sounds surprisingly good actually. I'd be interested in hearing a fingerstyle sample of these basses!
8. Due to a recent conversion to 5 strings I'm thinning out my 4 string herd. For sale here is a beautiful 2006 example of Fender's American Deluxe Jazz line. It was my main bass for about a year, and I always imagined it would be my main bass but, as I say, things change. What hasn't changed is the quality and playability of this instrument. The 18v preamp and noiseless pickups sound fantastic (and believe me, they really are noiseless!). I've used this for both studio and live work and it excels in both situations. It's the most reliable bass I've ever owned and I haven't had to have it worked on at all. It comes with a custom abalone pickguard but I will also include the original tortoise shell guard. I will also include the original strap and Schaller straplocks. The bass will be bubblewrapped inside the original moulded hardshell case, which will be bubblewrapped inside a cardboard box for safe shipping. In the interests of full disclosure I have included some pictures of the most prominent dings on the instrument. Like I say, this was my number one live bass for some time and it has picked up a few dings, but by no means a full relic-ing.. I apologise for the quality of these photos, I have neither the equipment or the skills to illustrate them properly. You see the grain loop that looks like the front end of a car? That small light part about to go through the windscreen is a ding. It's not that white in reality, that's just the flash working. Not that noticeable really. This is above the pickguard just before the top horn of the bass. The slightly lighter area slightly larger than a tic tac. Hard to see in the photo. This is the most noticeable ding on the instrument. It is below the pickguard on the curve of the body. Again, this isn't anything to worry about really! The light part below and to the left of the straplock is a ding. This is on the bottom edge of the instrument and no-one would notice it unless you showed it to them due to the position. These are the most prominent dings, there are more but they are mostly on the back of the instrument and a lot of them are depressions in the finish rather than full on chips. This bass is still in very good condition! I don't want to put of potential buyers by focusing on dings but I have been through too many ebay/forum bass purchases where I have been dissappointed because the bass was not represented fully, so I am just being open and honest. There is also a small knock on the back of the neck down behind the third fret represented by a small depression in the wood, this does not affect playability. Feel free to give me a ring on 07840504461 with any questions. Shipping is via UPS. International bidders are welcome but I haven't done the appropriate legwork with regards shipping costs to Europe but give me an email ([email protected]) or a call and I'll investigate. I welcome people wishing to pick this up from Surbiton (nr. Kingston-upon-Thames). Paypal preferred but I also accept personal cheques and will wait for them to clear before I ship the bass. This bass is also on ebay, start price £715 but I'll pull the auction for the first bass chatter that offers me the £715. Spend your christmas money here!
9. Depending on how much you need the cash now you might wanna wait till after Christmas to sell it. To be honest this is a ridiculously low price, and I'm sure when all the kids have their Christmas money in their pockets they'll be more likely to bite, even at a more realistic price point. Good luck.
10. I can't either! Trade for my jazz...
11. Cheers mate! Yeah, that's one thing I didn't put in the ad; it's chuffin' gorgeous.
12. Price drop! Now £750 SHIPPED! This is a 2006 USA Fender Deluxe Jazz in Amber finish with rosewood fretboard. It was my main bass for about a year and I never thought I would sell it but I have since discovered 5-strings and am selling my 4s. This is a fantastic specimen of the model, it's very light with no neck dive, the fantastic 18v preamp and the SCN noiseless pickups sound great. I'm not looking for trades right now, I've got another bass incoming! Full disclosure: The finish has been checked and dinged a moderate amount, there is one mark on the front above the pickguard (the small lighter section in picture 5), there is a slightly larger one below the pickguard shown in picture 6 (about the size of a tictac), and there's a small one on the bottom of the body near the strap button shown in picture 7. The others are too hard to photograph, are on the back of the body and aren't that noticeable. There is also a small mark on the back of the neck about the size of a small fingernail behind the 3rd fret that does not affect playability. Full specifications are available at: <a href="http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0194460764" target="_blank">http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0194460764</a> The price is £750 including USP Standard shipping (domestic). This bass is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to pull this bass at any time. I'll ship internationally too, but I haven't done the appropriate legwork yet about costs but shoot me a PM and I'll do my best to help. I accept Paypal and cheques (cheques add 5 days clearing time). Feel free to contact me with any questions, my email address is [email protected], alternatively you can call me on 07840504461. Thanks for looking!
13. I got a Yamaha BB2005 with an open mind, perfectly willing to get rid of it if it wasn't right, and I've been very pleased with its big, clear sound. It's not quite hi-fi, the front pickup has a lot of character. It's perfect for the funk/pop stuff I play in my current band.
14. Lol, bump for a genius thread.
