    I've always had a preference for the shorter scale length. Back in the day it was the early Gibsons rather than Fenders that floated my boat - probably because two of my heroes played them (Jack Bruce and Andy Fraser). I moved on to Fenders in the '80s but then back to s-s Gibsons. Nowadays there's a huge choice of s-s basses and I wouldn't play anything else. More comfortable to wear and play and I prefer the subtle difference in sound that comes from the different s-s overtones. The only word of caution I usually add is that, if you're a P-bass worshipper, don't expect any s-s bass to give you exactly that (although I can get close enough with some of mine).

    Just had what could be a decent idea (I normally manage one or two a year). Obviously this topic doesn't see a lot of traffic outside the Bash season but, given its regional following, why don't we also use it as a kind of S-W notice board? For example, we could: post details of our own or other interesting gigs (we wish!!); share details of tried and trusted local repairers; flag-up something decent that we have seen in a retail outlet; link ads that we have posted on the FS forum. In the latter case, we obviously can't do that INSTEAD OF posting a FS ad in the normal way but, speaking personally, I would always be interested in knowing what's on offer within a collectable radius from home rather than using a carrier. What do we think?

    That will sound great with the La Bellas - my favourite strings. Mustang length should be right for thru-body stringing too.

    Pristine example of one of the very best D-class amps available. This one looks as fresh as the day it left the factory with no defects or marks and everything still working exactly as it should. I replaced my D800 with this to get the adjustable hi-pass filter, Bright switch and more comprehensive EQ section with semi-parametric, sweepable low- and hi-mid bands. Compared to the base D800, these additional features are real game-changers that turn a good amp into a great one. These amps will run down to 2ohms so you can use 2 x 4ohm cabs.     Oh that's very sad, looks like a real character. As you've probably guessed, we love dogs almost as much as basses - or more than in the case of one of us.

    SOLD!! Up for sale is my exquisite 'Cazzie' in high-gloss, natural finish made by Adrian Maruszczyk's other brand, Mensinger. These short-scale (30"), light-weight (3.0kg) basses are extremely comfortable to wear and play and this one is mint/unmarked. Here's the spec: Body: Mahogany with eye poplar top. Neck: Hard rock maple with ebony fretboard, 40mm wide at nut. Pickup: Domanski under eye-poplar cover with series/single coil/parallel mini switch. Strings: La Bella flats. Price includes gig bag and is based on collection from near J25 of the M5. Alternatively, for an extra £50 I can supply and pack in a nice Gator hard-case for collection by carrier arranged/paid by buyer.     Unique opportunity to own one of the two basses I commissioned from our own AndyJr and featured in one of his Build Diaries on this forum. It's a 30" scale passive with 3 lippy pick-ups and seven-position switching enabling any one pup or combination to be selected quickly and easily. I had this made as a clone of the original that Andy made me but I'm letting it go as my new stock-control policy is to not keep two basses that are essentially the same.     Eden have a great 'signature' tone with all controls set flat - I have a WT550 Traveler for gigs and WTX-264 for home use. GLWTS!

    I think my own high opinion of this amp has led me to overdo my asking price - so I'm reducing it to a very reasonable £450.

    NOW REDUCED TO £450!! Offered in A1 condition with footswitch, cable and GK gig bag. These are amazing amps with valve pre and two channels.     Five weeks down the line and I'm loving this even more than I already reported on here. These are fabulous basses! All the US owners on Talkbass reckon that this s-s version is tonally more versatile than the standard-scale 'Rays, i.e. it does the classic 'Ray sound and then some.

    Newtone are indeed very helpful but only make round-wound strings.
