  1. Fitted without any bother. Excellent strings that suit me and the bass really well ☺️
  2. Dohhh! Just realised that the clue's in the JF324 product code. A quick look at the TI website confirms that their definition of short, long and extra-long is 32", 34" and 36" respectively. How quirky is that? All my Maruszczyk s-s basses came fitted with cut-down standard-scale rounds but I wasn't sure how well that would work with the more rigid flats. Thanks for the feedback Paul.
  3. Just received a set and found that they are too long for my 30"-scale Sandberg Cali s-s. The fully-wound nominal-gauge section of the E string extends 5cms past the string post, which as far as I'm concerned makes them unusable. Can anybody tell me whether this a known issue with these so-called s-s strings? The only other explanation would be a mistake in TI's packing department.
  4. Thanks ead and Cuzzie - plenty for me to think about there. Mine's passive btw. I'll keep a watching eye on the FS forum and maybe post a 'wanted' topic.
  5. My short-scale Cali 4 has a Black Label P pup. Can somebody please tell me where these fit into the tonal spectrum of P-bass pups? Is there anything else out there that would give me a more suitable P-bass vibe in my classic rock/pop covers band? I'm new to Sandberg and have only ever briefly owned one P bass - a standard-scale Squier. I remember that sounding sublime with flats so I'm just about to replace the Sandy rounds with TI Jazzers.
  6. You think you've got problems? I'm living with the cook - in lockdown!
  7. Thanks for the feedback. Given that no-one disagrees with our reasoning in terms of covid, I'll confirm that date with the hall - which is their only free Sunday in September btw. Sincere apologies to woodinblack, GrahamT and anyone else who isn't free to attend.
  8. OK guys, it's decision time again! Despite the positive trend at the moment, we're looking at putting this back to September 19th to be really REALLY sure. We want the event to be completely free from even the slightest covid concern and, equally important, to not be further complicated by any covid-related safety measures that will increase the already considerable work-load on the team. July or August would probably be equally good but I can imagine that holiday catch-up plans would impact on attendance. Comments please! Sorry for any further disappointment caused but we WILL get there!
  9. Just bought a lovely Sandberg Cali short-scale off Gerry. Couldn't fault a thing from start to finish. Deal with confidence!
  10. Just picked up this nice s-s off here. Not done my set-up yet but first impressions are very favourable. https://cdn.basschat.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2020_12/IMG_20201212_151727.jpg.14f59f910ab091d222c7723966c493cf.jpg
  11. From my dealings with Adrian in the past, this is fairly typical. He can be very, errr, pragmatic. "It's customer service, but not as we know it Jim." 🙂
  12. Dave, I would say that a couple of modern 12" drivers plus experimenting with the amazing controls on the TT - particularly the Bright boost and balancing your HPF / Bass / Hi-Mid settings - would get you right where you want to be. The TT sounds amazing thru my pair of Barefaced Super Compacts.
  13. Coming along nicely. Can't wait to see that grain on the fully-finished body!
  14. Wow! I love that, especially in Surf Green. If I hadn't moved over to s-s bases, I'd have that in a heartbeat. I've done a few buy / sell transactions Will and you can deal with confidence.
  15. Surprised to see this is still up for grabs - it shouldn't be! IMHO based on my considerable experience, these are absolute stand-out basses that represent MASSIVE value for money. Pull the trigger somebody!
  16. Somebody seriously deserves a design award for that! It's like the classic Ampeg AEB-1 with a modern twist. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/0c/85/5d/0c855d6ca55d3360397437c4e4913b6a--vintage-guitars-unique-guitars.jpg
  17. Whoahhh! They just totally float my boat - especially the black one. Used to love the Vox basses (and others) that Wyman played in the early Stones days... but that's just me 🤪
  18. These are absolutely brilliant. I've got the Olympic white one. GLWTS
  19. No problem, I want to learn how to do this anyway.
  20. Just got it back and the sockets are XLR so that's the lead I need. Also posted on the recording forum to ask how to set the DI switching on the amp and any other tips.
  21. I've been asked to post some recordings of my new Mesa TT-800 and I want to DI into my Zoom H4n. I've only ever recorded with the Zoom through its on-board stereo mic's but it also has a couple of XLR sockets. My questions are: do I need a special XLR lead or will a standard mic lead do? and how do I set the two DI switches for LEVEL LINE/MIC and PIN 1 LIFT/GROUND on the amp? Hopefully you guys can answer these questions and flag up anything else I need to know.
  22. That's how I've used mine but I'd prefer to DI so that I'm recording the amp's output rather than how it sounds through my cab. I'll see if I can get help on the technical forum.
  23. I've got a nice little Zoom H4N recorder that I've lent to a mate of mine. I'll get it back and record something. I've only ever recorded stuff using the onboard mic's so can anybody tell me how to DI into it from the amp? IIRC, the only other inputs on the Zoom are a couple of jack sockets. It can record WAV files or MP3.
