1.
But do you have them on all 4 strings? That capo set up is no use to me. Transposing all our material onto another fret where all my major notes would be on minor frets would confuse the hell out of me and as I'm the singer, I can't afford to be concentrating too much on what I'm playing.
As long as your headstock has enough room to fit them you should be fine. Not sure how the neck would handle the changes in tension though. I think that's why Michael Manring uses a carbon neck.
2.
Try here - http://www.ebay.co.u...s=1&_ipg=&_from= Arrived in 3 days and the guy was really helpful And its a ton cheaper with no duty to pay.....
Now that's more like it! Thanks.
3.
I wonder has anyone ever put 4 of these on? Then you could retune the whole guitar down and back. Is this possible? I don't know
May I introduce you to Michael Manring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY4Ra2KOyas 4 standard drop tuners and 4 drop tuners on the bridge.
4. That's honestly one of the nicest basses I've ever seen. You lucky duck.
5. Hey folks What are your opinions on the Hipshot extender keys? Has anyone had any issues with them? From what I've read they seem to be quite good, the thing putting me of at the moment is the price! £90 for the black GB7 on bass direct! They seem to be going for ~ £50 in the states but postage is costly as are the import duties. Cheers.
6. All scientific thinking and evidence (sadly there have not been many studies into this exact topic) show that the 'tonewood' makes no difference to the sound of an electromagnetically signalled instrument significantly enough for a human to even come close to being able to tell. 99.99999% of the sound comes from the initial vibration of the string being converted, and while the vibration of the strings will be transferred into the body and thus some transferred back into the strings that doesn't account for much of the signal. There is so much unscientific anecdotal evidence from some horrifically bias sources flying around it hurts. Of course a Luther (Whose job is to sell instruments made out of expensive tonewoods) is going to say that it makes a huuuuuge difference. People always say that their alder P sounds different to their ash P, neglecting that the fact that pick-up winding are never exactly the same (usually a +-10% tolerance), that pots have something like +-20% tolerance and the same sort of tolerance differences are true for the other components as well. More than enough to cause significant tonal differences, which explains why people here a difference between their alder strat and their mahogany strat. If these companies that promote their tonewood so religiously really believed that it was that important they would take steps to get electrical components with much tighter tolerances. People hear what they want to hear. 7.
Just buy a Woolly Mammoth kit and build it yourself, probably set you back £35 or so plus your time. Si
Second that. Zvex pricing is utter madness.
8. Still not a peep from from their engineer! I sent another email but still nothing. I might just swap in the valves I want to use and see if that helps, although I still don't know if changing the 'pre-amp' valve will make a difference. I've heard that it's just a phase inverter and I've also heard that it actually is the pre-amp and the op-amps inside are for the EQ. I may give them a call in the morning if I get the time.
9. I never really notice much difference with different fingerboard materials feel wise. And as far as sound I don't think it makes any difference, I've swapped between maple and rosewood necks on my precision and couldn't tell any difference at all.
10.
http://audiozone.dk/...japan_1986-1991 The J20 pickup means 87/88, and the Charvel headstock decal with ® but no TM probably makes it 88. Great website for Charvels, that one. EDIT: '87 basses have a TM on the neckplate, '88s have ®.
Thanks for posting this! I've looked at the table on there but never read about that. Turns out mine is also an '87.
11.
Hi Shaun, Lovely bass! Would you happen to know the exact year? GLWTS!
I'm not sure if it's possible to find out unless you still have the tags (if it came with any). I've tried to find out the exact year of mine based on serial number but haven't had any luck.
12. Yes these are fantastic quality. Mine is very heavily played and beat up but is still one of the best playing and sounding basses I've ever used. I had to import mine over from the states and pay some stupid amount on import duty and parcelforces ransom charges.
13. Yes that's a 1B, either 1987 or 88.
14. Chris brought my EHX Freeze pedal, I saw his wanted add and he replied to my pm very quickly. Prompt payment and a pleasure to deal with. Many thanks.

Brought a VT bass from Jeremy. Popped to his to pick it up, great communication and a nice guy to deal with. Many thanks Jeremy.
16. Traded my Ibanez SR605 for Matt's ATK 700. Matt kept me well informed the whole time, dispatched very quickly (insanely good packaging as well) and is an all round great guy to deal with. Couldn't be happier. Cheers!
17. I would think the Fender Jazz and Precision could be considered industry standards.
18. I wonder if it comes with a bottle of the glue they have been huffing?
19.
Anyone ever pulled them to task on this? All their ad's state All Valve
I asked them in an email about a Month ago and haven't heard anything back. Still haven't heard anything in from their engineer about my issue. It's been 10 days now.
20.
A guy recently sold me a Fender Illustrated Guide. Blue
Can I hav... I mean borrow it?
