  1. I first got in to envelopes with my first Zoom (B3). Even better was the ability to add just a hint of drive in front to really bring them alive.
  2. Cheers Russ. She doesnt use any effects so its all good. We tested out using my old guitar version first at rehearsals and she loved how simple it was compared to her old G4M system. She got the Xvive 4 system and we tested it out at home. Sounds really solid and noticeably clearer and more detailed than the old UHF system.
  3. Ive always made a point of programming on the boxes themselves if at all possible. Getting to know the box well means you spend less time tying to remember how to change something and can just get on with it, and playing. The best place to make these adjustments are with a band playing. Its all very well having 1000 fantastic patches at home, but if they don’t work with the band (and you want them to), then being able to make adjustments on the fly very quickly not only looks more professional, it means your band mates are standing around waiting etc. Thats my philosophy anyway, based on doing all the above.
  4. I recently did a collaboration recording with some mates and we chose Heart’s Alone. Always loved that song, but only then did I find out its a cover, original version was by iTen.
  5. I absolutely LOVE Cubase Pro, i cant get enough of it lol. If there is something it cant do ive not found it yet (thats not really saying much though). Only problem with the demo is you have to have a dongle for the pro version. Occasionally i use Elements if I’m too lazy to use the second, Cubase only install of Windows 10 as its on a dual boot system. Even that it amazing though. I think with Cubase its not obvious why its so good. On paper I’m sure most other pro DAW’s can do a lot of what CB can do, but its how it’s implemented that makes it so easy to use.
  6. …then sell it on here within a week as ‘the best ive owned, but i just don’t have a use for it…..’ 😂
  7. Dancing in the Moonlight (Toploader) and Bye Bye baby by the Bay City Rollers are two that come to mind.
  8. I ordered a keyboard stand from them last Monday, it was in stock in thier warehouse in Europe. It was £20 cheaper than anywhere else. It arrived 9.30 Thursday morning. Cant fault that.
  9. They are and thats not a bad price if it goes for that.
  10. I really liked the clear ‘colour’ when i had a few i was trying out, but as i tend to wear a black suit jacket, and maybe a dark coloured shirt, I went for black, more so for when i have them hanging around my neck etc. I thought they would be less noticeable from a distance.
  11. I also think a lot of us try and get a tone that we hear on a recording. Its not always clear what the original tone is like once it’s mixed in. Could have a lot more dirt on it than seems apparent. When we are sitting at home tweaking, everything is going to be so obvious and stand out, but this might actually work better with a band or in a mix. I used a couple of the stock presets at a rehearsal once as i was showing my guitarist what the Stomp could do, and i was surprised i didn't hate them as much as when I had tried them sitting at home.
  12. At most of our gigs we used one of these 😁
  13. Makes me laugh. As with punk, indie bands want to be different, only they all do different the same way 😂
  14. Haha, yeah, they suit him and his bass, but i bet even he tweaks them depending on the situation. I cant imagine any ‘wow’ ones that are worth paying for, or in fact any crap ones either. I cant see the point in buying something tailored to someone else’s playing. If it was that easy we wouldnt hate on the stock ones as much. Getting ideas on how to use the blocks to get what you want is a good idea if you get stuck, but I’d never pay any one when there is so much free info on line. Obviously thats just me though.
  15. Yeah, i was the same. Although the guy knows what he is doing, i never heard anything that made me go ‘wow’. Some half decent starting blocks I suppose but i always felt he was hyped up a bit too much.
  16. I use it purely to hear myself about the others, so i can tell when I’m playing the wrong notes etc. I’m not looking for a mix of any kind, not yet. I guess I’m just using a glorified headphone set up rather than tradition IEM’s but whatever its called, its a mode a huge difference to my playing. We have no FOH person, its all done which a mixer on stage and hopefully it sounds good in the room….when we get to gig in a room of course.
  17. Good to know as my singer just ordered hers this afternoon.
  18. I had looked at the ZSN’s as I thought the fit might be a bit better for my ears. As much as I’m getting on ok with my IEM, i find i can only use one ear, otherwise i get worried about the level coming out of the PA. As with most rehearsals we have the PA facing us, so its easy to gauge the volume. Being isolated from it makes it very difficult to do this. I know it will get better, but for now its one ear for IEM, the other on the PA. Thinking about getting the Xvive IEM system. My singer is going to get one as she has been using my Xvive guitar system with a P2 and her ZS10’s. Ive just put my DBR12 powered speaker up for sale. Cant see me needing a floor monitor now.
  19. The Xvive system looks good to me. My singer is getting this to replace her Sub-Zero (G4M) system. Just recently she has been using my Xvive guitar bug system with a G4M clone of the Behringer P2. That does stereo or mono. In mono mode both ears get fed the signal. Thats only £24.
  20. I wonder if that encore song has ever been played 😀
  21. Never head of this band, but of course they are entitled to their opinion , even if it is bollox (in mine of course). They sound like a couple of Mr and Mrs Silly Billy who think they are doing something new or clever. Same old ‘indie/fight the system’ dross by the looks of it. Its not like they are doing anything new anyway. Who cares 😂
  22. I guess its the same with most of the presets. They are just a starting block based on someone idea of what they like. Cant say i ever found anything that didn’t need tweaking quite a bit for my tastes.
  23. Price drop to £280. Totally forgot about this. I got this cab new in Dec from PMT, along with the padded cover (£70) that allows you to use the speaker without taking the cover off. The idea was to use it with my synth but ive decided to use IEM’s instead. Its had very light home use, and two rehearsals. It looks brand new more or less. Ill uploasd photos tomorrow, just getting the ball rolling now. 1000watts apparently,. It is very loud whatever these watts are based on. https://www.andertons.co.uk/live-pa/pa-systems/active-pa-speakers/yamaha-dbr12-1000w-active-1x12-pa-speaker This is the cover. https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Yamaha-Speaker-Cover-for-DXR12mkII-DBR12-and-CBR12/13MB?origin=product-ads&gclid=CjwKCAjwq7aGBhADEiwA6uGZp9ooFTtdfZ2kOKIbWsu4mNwS1amtrvZ1zB0I3C-gM3Y6YlrUy1xKsRoCkdAQAvD_BwE Not looking for any trades, and not offering delivery on this as i dont have the packaging. Open to close offers. Any questions just ask (not about shipping or trading though).
  24. Maybe thats with it all maxed out. After all, he has the Low and Highs at the highest settings as well.
