Why is my typing getting re formatted to something i don’t want?
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's question in Site Issues and Questions
Glad its not just me. I don’t mind, but ‘we’ don’t normally write it like that, and didnt want people to think i don’t know how to format it properly. -
Its just taken me almost 20mins to make a post, as every time I tried to type a speaker confirguitstion like 2x10, the ‘x’ jumps off the base line. I don’t want this and it shouldn’t be happening. Im on an ipad using the latest IOS, and it’s happening on 3 different browsers. I have all the auto correction stuff to unread off on my ipad, which i should stay need to do just for one website. This never happened in the past and not happening on any other website that ive visited (I've actually just tried a few to prove this).

Being ‘forced’ back on bass for the time being. Still out of work but I need a cab. Budget is low, just over £300. I’ll be using my Rumble 800HD head, and quite fancy a 2x10 The only 2x10 Ive ever owned or played through was a BF Retro two ten, and hated it. To me it was too deep and, well Retro. Not a bad cab, i just hated it. So, im thinking of the Rumble v3 2x10. Lightweight, takes a lot of power, and perfectly matched to my head. It even has cut outs on the top to accommodate the head. Some of you may know i loved my CN212, but another is way out of budget, and id still like to try a 2x10 anyway. Just doing standard covers and will need the rig to do FOH as well. Not looking for recommendations as such, as i can pretty much guess what they will be, but happy to hear from other users who are in the same situation as me (i.e, no PA support and just using the one cab).

That’s nothing like the one I posted. This guy is just being flash. Plenty of drummers do that. It’s nothing special at all.

How do you know he isn't the original?
-
Because he realised he brought the wrong bass to the gig 😂

Not sure if this one has been posted. Really made me laugh.

Nice one Russ. These are a huge step up from the phone in the pub videos. Job done i guess as i quite fancy going to see them now. Nice to see you getting more screen time in the later ones. Backing vocals seems a bit ‘odd’ though. Only in one channel?

It is, in fact, totally……😂

And yet, quite happy to advertise butter on TV 😂

Yeah, cant say I’m too keen on him either. I didnt make it all the way through either. A few good ones for the desktop version though.

…..sort of. I just came across this DG sim for iOS. Looks pretty decent going by the reviews. Works on ipad and iphone. There is also a desktop version. Might get this for some home recording. Its only $39 at the moment which is quite reasonable for this sort of thing. https://www.nembriniaudio.com/products/blackice-beta-gamma-bass-amplifier Review of the iOS version

At least we know if anyone walks off with a cab that size its not going to be a bass player 😁.

Boringly i always say Cubase. I cant imagine life without it lol. Its not the published features, although they are fantastic, its the smaller so well thought out ones that impress me. Finding new things everyday. I’m ok worth most DAW’s, as far as getting something in and out of them at least. Tried quite a few over the years, but CB just hits the spot. I tried my best with Cakewalk by Band lab, but compared to CB it just seemed clunky and took way to long to do some of the simple things. I was a Cakewalk and Sonar user for a while, a long time ago, but CB just blows them all away IME. The ‘best’ is always the one that gets the job done with the least hassle, and the most fun IME. Thats why we all like different ones.

Not in Juke Box city though. In those videos you were standing stage right (looking at the stage from out front). Thats where I’m used to standing. Although i don’t insist on standing that side, i do it so i can see the bass drum pedal clearly, and hear the HH a bit better, which helps us keep it tighter (in theory). Its also easier to make eye contact if the drummer is partially facing you. I have been on the other side with a band i used to dep with, and it was fine, but felt a bit weird because i couldn't see the pedal. Its going to be totally strange finding somewhere to stand at the next gig if things work out 😁. If they dont, i have a Gramma pad that will sort the vibrations out……the audience will never know lol.

I had one of those for a while. Nothing wrong with it, but I never feel totally confident with valves at gigs, and although I own and use Behringer gear (our desk for one thing), the two together played havoc with my paranoia lol. I liked the video, but found it strange seeing you on that side of the drummer. I’m so used to bass players being on the other side.

Wish we lived closer, id come and play keys with you. we have exactly the same feelings toward this. As i dont work at the moment its quite frustrating that im sitting around going over the songs, ready for the next rehearsal, only for something to cause the rehearsal to not happen. it cant be helped, but i dont think the rest of the band realise how 'in to it' i am. For this reason ive also joined another band. They arent much better, but the two are going to offset each other hopefully, at least until my guitarist's wrist has healed.

But you wouldn’t need to take an amp, so you are still downsizing what you would take. Also (slightly) less set up time.

.This is my mind set. Ive gigged an Ashdown EB-180 which was just about loud enough, and my DBR12 is much louder, but it seems alien to not have a proper bass cab sitting there. Considering our PA speakers, which are very similar, can take the bass and other instruments I really shouldn’t be worrying, but i just cant get past that size thing.

Not at all. Having a sound you like on stage is a huge motivator. The audience won’t care if it’s a Berg/BF etc, as long as it sounds ok and fits the music. I chose my gear to do the job, and sound good to me.

Fantastic job Russ. Is that you on stage?
