Thanks Ped. I remember we had a discussion year ago where it was the other way around, where mobile wasnt as popular. Yeah, it’s the holding space bar down, and even trying to click at the end of a post that i cant get working. Curser jumps around but never to where it needs to be. Posting is fine, its really just trying to edit afterwards.

I can’t count how many times ive had to abandon trying to edit a post on my iphone 15 pro and go to a computer or ipad. No way to get the typing curser anywhere close to where i need it to be. Not every time, so for those that say ‘i have no issue’, sometimes i dont either, but most of the time i do. Im using Safari which is of course built in to iOS. I know iOS isnt a priority, but even so….. Really, really frustrating and very poor user experience.

Good gig at a retirement village tonight in Bedford. Not sure what time we will get home though.

Thankfully arrived just in time for tonight’s gig. So much lighter than the old ones, and the bag is really well padded.

Wow, this has just reminded me I have one I those. I think ive only used it once and put it away. Got it just after lockdown but after the first gig with it i couldn't be bothered using it anymore lol.

Cheers guys. I remember years ago we have silver aluminium ones that were gas assisted. Really light and a pleasure to set up and take down. I have been doing some research and went ahead and ordered the Gravity ones (non gas assisted). They seem like they will work fine, i like the bag, and got them for £110 delivered. Another reason for ordering so quick, is that ours are in a car stuck in a garage the other side of town. It was easier to order a new pair now for delivery tomorrow rather than go and get ours.

One of our old speaker stands is starting to fall apart, so it’s time to replace both. They are quite heavy as well. I quite fancy the Gravity GSP5211B, which looks ideal, but im wondering what you guys use in this (sub £150) area. Also looked at the QUIKLOK S171PAK. A bit cheaper but the Gravity has more metal on it where it counts apparently. Just small pub/club gigs so we don’t need anything too professional. Cheers. Happy new year.

We have our first NYE gig for ages this month. On the one hand I’m really looking forward to the money and it’s going to be an easy gig (another Retirement village), but because of where me and the singer live (my wife) we can’t get home in the car. We live right in the centre on London and just inside the restricted zone for the fireworks. Will be a long night.

This is interesting as I have the H4 Essentials and I can put it clipped to the drum kit and get a clean recording (once it's in my DAW). I think the mic's are rated a bit higher than the H1 as far as levels go, but ive been really impressed with how clean it can record. I also use it to send a feed to our desk for my IEM's. At rehearsals I just put it on a chair in the room facing the PA and get decent recordings. Never had any distortion. It takes one button to start recording and the same button to stop. Neve need to touch the menus. Much easier than the older H4n Pro. I had the H4n Pro pro while and liked it, but the Essential is cleaner (I read about the Pro's clipping at low recording levels, and heard it for myself).

Loved the first film but I can't imagine this will be much. I listened to an interview with Derek Smalls (Shearer stayed in character the whole time) on the Rockonteurs recently. I didnt laugh once which was disappointing.

I wonder if the Aliexpress version is like the Gear4music version. I spent ages trying to get the stereo in on XLR working, brought new cables, even sent the first one back and got a replacement (actual they said to keep the first one as it wasn't worth the cost of sending it back). Neither seems to be wired, or at least working, for stereo XLR. The middle 1/4 works fine in both modes. SameXLR cables on the P2 work as expected.

Thanks. Isn't that PC only though? The cable I plan on getting is the Soundswitch. It comes with 3 months free use of their own software, with the option of paying £7.99 a month or buying it outright. I know nothing about these things but I was hoping there might be a freeware option or something cheaper if the cable is not bound to that software only.

Until recently we have always had our lights on some sort of auto mode, but I saw a USB to DMX cable that im hope got get for Christmas It comes with a tail of some software but for my needs I just need something simple and cheap. Not sure if i ll use it connected to my MacBook or an iPad. Probably MacBook. Any guidance, suggestions most welcome.

I was in a band a log time ago with a guitarist and bass player both using wireless. We used to play at the Roadhouse in Covent Garden quite a lot as the guitarist was also the house sound guy on the nights we weren't playing. I remember one gig where both of them went out in to the crowd (this was a sat night so it was packed). All of a sudden the guitar stopped and the bass player started doing a solo. Next thing I see is the guitarist coming back on stage carrying a try with drinks on it for us. Classic!!!

Yeah. Maybe why Sheldon started to put a DG module in them 😇 I did a gig years ago when a mate of mine brought two basses along for me to play. 1 per set and the 3rd set with whatever I wanted. At the time I was using a 4 string Fender (which I still use as my gigging bass). A Dingwall and an old Ibanez Roadstar. First set came and went. it was my first time playing a FF but it was ok, I didn't struggle much, not even with the extra string. He was a bit put out that I refused to use it again and did the rest of the gig with the cheap as chips Ibby. it has so much more life and presence.

When we got our XR18 I made up laminated A5 cheat sheets for everyone. Everyone was also colour coded. I printed out labels (in the corresponding colour) for the leads that go in to the XR18. I have numbers stuck on the XR18 under the XLR inputs. I really can't do much more.....and yet 😂 To be fair, although all the instruments go through the Mixer, most of the time it's for the IEM users rather than FOH. We still mostly only put vocals/keys and kick through it, but we also record multitrack off the desk and have had a couple of 'cut down' recordings where someone has used the wrong input and ive just left it.

Ive never owned a fanned fret bass, but I have played a few. I found them extremely easy to play lower down the neck, but not quite so easy at the top end. It felt natural at one end and very un natural at the other. What ive never got on well with are Dingwall's. Ive not found one that sounded like it had a soul in it. I guess ive only played about 4, and they were nice instruments, but sound wise very cold.

One good thing to come out of the last gig, I managed to get a keyboard working using a power bank, using bluetooth midi back to my macbook. I can now soundcheck from out front. Really happy about that as I dont trust the others to do it.

Ive been harping on at the band to do more up to date songs for ages, now we are asked not to play anything past the early 80's of these gigs. At least we have pub gigs to let loose. My wife is our usual singer, so she normally gets the PA and lights set up at gigs. We live on the 3rd floor and it all has to be taken downstairs and across the car park. We insist that everyone plugs themselves in etc, but then after it's all plugged in i still have to check that everyone can't actual count. There is always one that in the wrong channel. We do get help with loading in and out if there is anyone else there, but it's the setting up that seems to take some ages. I had the PA/lights/keyboard rig broken down before the bass player had packed his rig away (just bass/amp/cab and a cable). I get they aren't as experienced as I am, but it's just common sense. The drummer is the one that ends up sorting them out most of the time now. me and the wife used to take a big bag of spare mic leads etc, now I just take bare minimum for the PA and that's it. Now when any of them come up to me and says the lead they have isn't long enough, they get the standard 'this doesn't sound like a me problem so go and sort it'. Can't believe there are still calls of 'where do I plug this in to'? Dont get me started lol.
