ChangesTwoBowie (supposed 'a la Queen) @ Colchester Arts Centre 9/7/22

I went there twice once many moons ago. Once to watch a midsummer nights dream which was done in the centre of the crowd, rather than on a stage, and once to watch Steaming; a deeply inappropriate play to take a 12 year old to as it featured full frontal nudity by the cast. My father wanted to go ... -
@crag42 with all due respect I do think you’re over-thinking this and making your life way more complicated than you need. Keep It Simple is my motto. They won’t notice you played a given song on an actual bass not a synth, or clean rather than very slightly overdriven. They just won’t care.
-
It’s not like you’re playing bootsy Collins tracks right ? Just stick with a single decent fat, warm tone and maybe some compression and you can do a fair -enough impression of most songs to please the average drunk attendee.
-
What fx do you need ? What songs really need them ?
-
I’d wind the pup up till the weak strings are where you want then screw the other pole screws down to suit the E and G

Ampeg sim, bit of compression on the zoom plus a precision bass -“accept no substitute” as Samuel l Jackson says in pulp fiction. - what you describe is exactly what I did with mine through a PA. the host of the OM night is a guitar teacher himself and said my bass “sounded pretty awesome”.
-
I used a zoom b2.1 (svt setting plus compression) through a PA and managed to make glasses fall off shelves. Have no fear, just do it

I’m autistic and I have humour (ie well, people here humour me, which may or may not be the same thing, I cannot quite tell) I am totally cool with anyone loving john Taylor’s work. He is a f u c king god. Even my 11 year old liked Duran Duran “a bit” (until she found out it was 80s) - she noticed Tim schwartz’s playing in the The Eagles too (until she found out it was 70s)

Thanks @TheGreek Treble clef markers == no-go zone. Small joke for any bass players looking at it

Or electrically heated boiling tar. You can get tiny spears to mount their blackened heads on in order to discourage the others ....* * purely speculative and may not actually work, all resemblances to rats living or dead is purely coincidental ...
-
At his work rate he will have it roofed and carpeted by the time the sparky arrives 👍
-
That’s what I meant, but maybe swap through alto and treble as you go up The neck ?
-
Our stupid one’s more permanent expression is literally vacant ...
-
Fair enough
-
Why did you take that photo just after a bamboo chopstick landed on the scratch plate ?
-
We have two - one previously described is so stupid that it runs right into parked cars whilst looking at them, the other is her full blood cousin, tiny even for a pug and so insanely clever that I honestly believe that she can secretly read books on astrophysics and speak five human languages fluently - take a guess which one the Labradors respect and don’t mess with clever <—. Stupid —->
-
Ours isn’t really a dog, more a random collection of reflexes with the ability to walk. It’s available expressions amount to one word plus punctuation “what?” Or “what !”
-
Your pug looks baffled (default expression for mine) - I’m sure our Labradors are laughing at them in dog fashion
