1.
Then you must have an especially delicate sense of happiness But in all seriousness, I think the 'take home' message from some of you guys is that you'd like us to tone down the advertising of the monthly challenge. Other people seem to think we should step it up a gear. I'm of the opinion we should maybe make the monthly challenge more prominent - but cut down on the 'pestering'. A bigger, bolder advert maybe, rather than a barrage of little ones. Anyway. This is all useful stuff, so keep it coming please!
Agreed, having it pinned in General discussion the same way the picture comp is in OT.
 2.
The monthly badgering of people to get more involved every month pisses me off too - it's a bass players forum, not a recording forum. Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't really have any interest in any of that stuff, certainly not to the point where I want to get involved in a competition.
+1
 3. Just had a quick look, it'd take half hour to listen to them all, I'm not sure many people would have that kind of time.
 4.
Obviously then you haven't listened recently as the entries are neither low quality or bass heavy! I do take your point about trawling though, I think a maximum run time of five minutes is probably too long - though most entries aren't actually that long. Perhaps a reduction in maximum run time to two-and-a-half minutes would make the challenge easier to listen to - it would certainly make it easier to contribute to if potential entrants don't think they have to come up with a concept album. Remember how very early vinyl 7" records restricted play time to three-and-a-half minutes each side? No, nor do I - but that's what created the noble craft of the pop song...
I don't mean the playing is low quality, I tried listening to them once some of them were hard to hear.
 5.
But why do you think that is, Wayne?
Honestly I think people have got better things to do than trawl through a bunch of low quality, bass heavy recordings. The photo comp works because it takes 30 seconds to look at the competition.
 6. It get pushed every month, people obviously aren't interested.
 7. https://www.facebook.com/Matterofopinionband?fref=ts Could do with a few here cheers, I'm going liking all the others now.
 8.
I also tried that Bass. Nasty B-stock body with far too many visible casting marks on it. Not a patch on the quality of the Talbos available in Japan (where they are considerably cheaper too).
Yeah, you was wrong mate, you didn't like that bass you liked.
 9. My Encore shortscale, bought secondhand in 1995 for £45, only had 3 strings, took another 4 weeks of saving up to get an E string, still have it, will never be sold.
 10.
(Loud whisper...) Ahem..! You're going the wrong way, Wayne..!
Haha, actually they are about 4KM behind me.
 11. It's in my town, not a lot of bassists around here wonder if I know them.
 12.
So... friends with 'benefits' eh?
I always thought drummers were friends on benefits.
 13.
Thanks for all the replies both wacky and serious. I'm using a Line 6 wireless receiver in the bass rack so the Sennheiser suggestion, though appreciated, is not doable. I'm curious, though, as to what rack mounted (or otherwise) effect y'all could not live without. Put another way, what one effect do you use that just puts a smile on your face when you engage it and hear your sound? <><Peace
http://www.gak.co.uk/en/tech-21-sansamp-rmp-rack-mount-preamp/96141?gclid=CLbDorKbqMMCFQ6WtAod2wIA3Q
 14.
I think we deserve a daily update pic.
What did we do so wrong?
 15.
Spare pair of socks/underpants?
What ever takes your fancy.
 16. How about a drawer to keep patch leads and stuff in?
 17.
I think he might be the one I lent a Fender book to a few years ago too.....
Looks that way http://basschat.co.uk/topic/149509-the-fender-bass-an-illustrated-history-anyone-who-could-lend/page__p__1339096__hl__fender%20illustrated%20__fromsearch__1#entry1339096
 18.
It's only nearly 4 yrs, perhaps he's a slow reader.
It's an Illustrated Guide so he must be awful.
