  1. I've got a Zoom MS-60B that has served me well for a number of years but will soon be looking for a new home. Just sayin' 😃
  2. I love compression and my bass playing just doesn't feel right when playing without it. But compression is a bit of a black art and depending on which flavour of compression is used it can sound as though nothing is happening when it's just the bass in isolation but play along with the band or even a backing track and it will make sense. Definitely do a bit of research into compression so that you understand what's going on, it'll help you to set one up so that it works better for you. Having said that, there's a lot of misconceptions about compression - some of which have been repeated on here and really don't achieve anything other than spreading fake news and adding further confusion to an already misunderstood subject. So maybe start with the link that Grandad posted above as Basschat isn't always a reliable source of 'truth' when it comes to compression* *Unless it's been written by @51m0n in which case it is the unquestionable word of the God of Compression.

  6. Me again. This is my third deal with Frank, this time instead of me taking his old tat, he has just bought a bass from me and as with previous encounters he was a gentlemen and scholar* from start to finish. Due to Covid it's obviously not possible for another car park exchange right now so we've pencilled one in for some point in the future once Boris gives us the thumbs up. But Frank was adamant that he paid now, nonsense said I, so he slapped me about until I acquiesced. The funds were in my account very soon after. *Visiting Professor of Scatology at the University of Ivor, in fact.
  7. Cheers, Frank. Always a pleasure. I trust you'll be giving be a helping hand with gestation this time?

  20. Yes, clean sounds are easy enough to obtain, as you say turn the gain down on some models or use something like the Acoustic 360 (I think?) amp model or something like whichever Ampeg model isn't the B15 or the SVT (can't remember what model that is either ) as it is clean and flexible. There's a ton of other tone shaping options too including various pre-amps - both pedals and from the amp models - as well as the different EQ choices, for example I got a great retro sound from my Mustang with just the Tilt EQ block with the Tube Compressor after it.
