1. Thanks for letting me know I will upload them with another application when I get back home later today
2. I don't really know where to start with this one.Price Drop 1500pounds I never planned on selling this bass and is purely because of a issue with my fretting hand that I'm even considering letting it go. This Precision was purchased from Wunjo at the start of the year because i fell in love with it and it had to leave there and then with me. It is not one for the purists but its one hell of a players bass (you could call it a vintage bitsa i guess). This bass has had a life, been used not hung on a wall and because of this has had modifications/work done and in my opinion sounds and plays beautiful as a Pbass should. I guess the only thing left is the details. 1969 neck that at some point in its life has had the side dots enlarged a refin/blow over at the same time. Frets also been replaced (old refret but in good shape 2mm action plays great) Tuners and Bridge seem right for the date and are tarnished a bit bent but do the job. 1967 body again refinished in black at some point in its life but has wear knocks and looks just right in my eyes. 1969/70 pickup (not fitted) 1966 CTS pots (currently not fitted) CTS 250k pots russian POI cap with none solder pickup connector so you can swap pickups to your taste and sound. ToneRider pickup (fitted) old Pbass of unknown make pickup and some other parts i have lying around the house that i will include with the sale La Bella low tension Flats (fitted) 40-100. Black 3ply fitted and a repro tort included. Covers and thumb rest gone long ago before i purchased the bass. No case although i do have a cheap fender gig bag that can go with the bass. Collection only because of the case situation and spares really plus i feel you may want to play the bass to see it in person to know if its for you. Based in Leicestershire and prefer sale only but will consider part trades with shortscale basses only due to the issue with my left hand. 3.
Do you find the problem is increased when you're fretting in the First position (up and the bottom end - around the 3rd fret) ? If so, and it's better fretting at the 9th fret, or near there, try a 5 string. the 3rd fret on the E is the same as the 8th on the B etc.
. Hard to say really I would say it just seems to come on quicker with the Pbass so I put it down to the stretch but it could be the width or depth of the neck as others have suggested. Maybe I should try and control the elements a bit more and see what has a bigger reaction do the same riffs or scales in differing positions for a time period on my basses and record the outcomes in some way.
4.
OK, but it's a technique tip that is good even if you don't have any hand problems. I'm getting some arthritis in the base of my left thumb which is concentrating my focus on things like this. Obviously it's for you to decide if the info you get is appropriate or not. Good luck with sorting this out.
👍 Will give it a try as well it can't hurt (anymore).
5.
OK, so I'll say the usual. . . if your fretting hand is stretching you're doing it wrong. Always move your whole hand to place your fingers over the note and never reach for it. Don't play with your thumb anchored to one place. Your left hand should always be "on the move".
Thanks but I don't think it's a technique issue as I have only had the problem over a short time not previously and I do get the same pain in day to day tasks/work etc although to a lesser extent hence the visit to the doc
6. The Doctor seemed to suggest it was a tendon issue caused from the break but as it was an old injury that had been ok for over 18months or so and has only recently caused an issue that the options were limited. I took it as him saying see if you can live with it as he didn't think much could be done without surgery I may have been reading between the lines a bit but he didn't suggest physio just a joint specialist at the hospital
7. So I broke my little finger (left hand) a couple of years ago along with my left leg (leg was a mess) mountain bike racing has its risks which I learnt the hard way and promptly stopped racing and ride for fun. Now the issue is my little finger has started to cause me problems fretting over the last month I have tried exercise including the strength gadgets but it doesn't seem to help. It seems worse on a 34" scale like my Pbass which I am putting down to the stretch in the lower frets but still causes a few problems on my 30". After a while it seems to freeze up or slow and has a dull ache. I have seen my GP who suggested if it doesn't clear up after 3 to 4months going to a specialist but was wondering if anyone has had similar on the basschat world. Apart from selling my P and sticking to 30" which would extend my playing times I'm struggling and worried.
8. Think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and use a weekend to sort through it. Might not be worth a great deal but a few extra quid towards extortionate estate agent fees etc would help
9. I didn't even think of the innuendo but yeah 😀 Kinda know I'm putting off the inevitabile weekend Of digging, researching, photographing and listing.
10. So is one mans junk anothers gold? The reason for asking is i have somehow just realised i have a Shedload (meaning not to be confused with an exaggeration i mean an actual shed full) of old musical equipment odds and sods. Now some of this comes from a time i was in a band with a lockup which when that fell apart a number of years ago i was left with the task of cleaning it out including all the stuff that had been left in the room from its previous studio use. The rest has been acquired over the years as we all do. I have a mass of wires/cables some old solid-state (vintage if you like) Amps of various brands like H and H/Wem etc some PA cabs, old speaker cabs plus other bits i have forgotten about plus the appropriate amount of old heavy bass gear. So my question is this can the none working bits be used as spares or projects by someone who is say doing a self build? is it worth my time to go through it all and see if i can clear it all out as i am going to buying a house soon and i don't fancy having it when i comes to moving? or do i just list it as a job lot on auction sites when i come to sell and hope a man with a van takes it away? does anyone on here have experience with clearing out in this way?
Yep had a noodle on the one in the Gallery plays and sounds really nice but the body had some shrinking and cracks that were worrying. Can't remember how much is was either but I dont think it was as much as this one
