  1. I use Biyang clones of a Rat and a big muff pedals. Both play really well with valves and sound epic.
  2. "Good bass playing should mean you shouldn't notice the bass in the song" - As I was once told during an audition...
  3. John Paul Jones for me. Always my go to bassist if I'm stuck for ideas; the way he blends melodic phrases, the all important funk, and driving rock when needed, is always inspirational.
  4. Nickel NYXL's on my current Jazz bass, but I used to use various types of steel strings on my Musicman. I think the bass dictates what string type I use. These days I'm also conscious of wear and tear on the fret wire, and nickel are supposed to be more forgiving.
  5. If you're playing in the band for fun, and it's stopped being fun, it's time to leave in my opinion. Life's too short. That's not to say you should bolt after one or two bad gigs or rehersals, but if it's become the norm, what are you getting out of it? If the band forms a significant part of your income, then that's a bit different...
  6. These are great basses, Squier VM '77 Jazz, bound neck, pearloid block fret inlays, with original black scratchplate, and custom made mirrored scratchplate, and gig bag. Some interest, but still available.

  8. I have one similar to this (a 1A), and they'er great basses. Built like tanks, and have a wide tonal pallete. For the money, it's ridiculous and will out perform basses costing much more than this. If I didn't have one I would be very tempted. GLWTS.
  9. Yes, thanks for your comments. I must admit I haven't tried it with a battery, but yes, that's possible too. Great little amp, still available!
  10. ...and bump. VM Jazz bass in mint condition with a bound neck, pearloid fret inlays, original black pickguard, custom made mirrored pick guard, and a gig bag.
  11. The real mccoy, beware of cheap imitations! Full of valve/tube lovelyness, powerful (900 watts), light, compact, and still available!
  12. Yes, it's the complete package! A veritable bass banquet bonanza of upright lovelyness. All you could ever need!* Upright bass, a very sturdy stand, hard case, padded plush gig bag, a bow, and some rosin! * Except the amp of course** ** Although if you do need a fantastic practice amp to get the most out of this attractive upright, then I may be able to help out with that too...
  13. These basses have a really good reputation, and deservedly so. This one looks lovely, and is in mint condition. It comes with a bound neck, pearloid fret inlays, original black pickguard, custom made mirrored pick guard, and a gig bag. Grab a bargain!
  14. Hi Rob, Yes, it's still available, and am more than happy to ship. I'm in Shrewsbury, so quite a way from where you are. Switch to PM, and we can sort something out. Many thanks
