  1. Wouldn't it just I had the Tube pre-amp / FET version of this head. I never managed to get above 2 without blowing everyone's head off. I got fed up of lugging it around eventually (weighed 30kg)
  2. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334828519198?hash=item4df555bf1e:g:cJkAAOSw5txkNW2X A 400 watt all tube head! The little pubs we play in this thing would turn them inside out Love to give one a blast though....and a little bit tempted too
  3. I've had two, convinced myself I didn't need such a big cab and sold them both, and now have seller's remorse! I did a gig supporting The Bootleg Beatles using one of these with an ABM 600 IV and their tech guy (also their keys player) couldn't believe how good the sound was and how light the cab was
  4. ...and while we're on the Country theme, here's my band, Southern Frontier, playing at The Donkey in Leicester last night. Great gig, which we all really enjoyed and got lots of lovely feedback from the decent-sized crowd. Home for 9pm as it was a 4pm kick off
  5. Yes, but the punters don't care
  6. I recommend Chelsea Dagger and Dakota for your setlist. Played back to back, Dakota first, these songs as a combo get a crowd bouncing and singing along like no other pairing in my experience. Both huge fun to play on bass too Ok so they're songs everyone does but who cares, our job is to entertain so these songs tick that box in spades in my book.
  7. The telly on showing the footie drives me bonkers. You can usually find the on/off switch of that particular telly and turn it off. Nice Ampeg rig btw
  8. I spy boots and hats....you must be a Country band? I've found your FB page and given it a like......here's mine in case you're in a reciprocal mood 😊😊 https://www.facebook.com/southernfrontiercountryband/
  9. I've played Oxjam Beeston 5 times now with 2 different bands, including the virtual version they did in 2020. It's always a great craic and the organisation is now superb. At £10 (free until 6pm) to see 100+ bands / artists in 20 venues all within easy staggering distance of each other must be the biggest musical bang for buck on the planet.
  10. 40 minute set as part of the Oxjam Beeston Music Festival, which is held annually in 20 venues in Beeston Nottingham with 100+ bands and artists. Fantastic gig and the crowd really got into our set. Oxjam Beeston, entirely run by volunteers, has raised £150,000 for Oxfam since 2011, not including this year. As you can see from the headgear, we're a Country Band
  11. Vintage Trouble. They were awesome and their frontman is superb
  12. Welcome! I shall think of you as "Friends in....." hopefully you'll get the reference! 🤠
  13. worth a try this, thanks. I'm not sure many of ours are 140bpm tho...
  14. Very true
  15. Here's a suggestion from a sound engineer/studio type dude. " Hacks for musicians. Have the whole band practice to a click track. Get used to a click track at rehearsals. It will help you notice if you are speeding up or slowing down in songs. The final result will be a much more polished performance, both live and when in the studio. " Anyone tried this? I'm thinking of suggesting it to my band but wanted to get some input and thoughts from the BC parish first. Link to the author's FB page for reference...https://www.facebook.com/psyrexsoundlab I did some studio work with Mark and he seems to know his stuff

  17. School reunion party at Ludlow Brewery. Great seeing all those faces from my youth and chatting to people desperately trying to remember their names😊 We played pretty well ...a few fubars but no-one noticed Pic of sound check - hence no drummer
  18. I've been there many times but not to play live. I didn't realise the Bang Bangs were from that neck of the woods 😊
  19. Which village hall? I might have played in the very same one.
  20. 25 -ish, family on the way and got whizzed off trying to load gear into the back of a minivan on New Year's Day at around 2 in the morning surrounded by drunken Mr and Mrs Silly Billy. Gave it all up for 20 years or so. My drummer mate was in the band which became T'Pau but chose to leave before they went to London and got on TOTP......so near, yet so far. Later on he did get to gig with Robert Plant (post Zeppelin), so not all bad
  21. Sounds ominous this cancelling lark. I'd give 'em the heave-ho
  22. Very nearly played to three men and a dog on Saturday, saved by the fact that our guitarist Dave brought his family and friends along. A good night was had by all and we played well with no techie dramas. Pic of the band post gig with said family+friends Not a gig we're keen to do again..beer was ok, toilets were antideluvian and there was a crowd of crack heads on the street outside. Also the pay was sh1te (but that's down to us I guess)
  23. Basschatters to cease and desist the 'gain' 'not gain' banterage .....and Mike Lull basses to be cheaper ....and Bass Collection to change their naff headstock logo ....and all amp makers to provide backlit control panels/knobs so i can see wtf i'm doing on a dark stage when I'm not wearing my glasses so I look more like a rock star!
