1.
You may mock their paltry efforts, but at least whilst there is mutual ego stroking to be carried out you can rely on a TB bass to remain civil.
Guess why. All it said to me was that TB can be so f***ing bland. That was about as damnboring as a thread could be, I read 2 pages, then the last. Evah.
 2. How are you going to bend the cards around the body edges? You are putting them on the back of the neck?!
 3.
Saw them last night in Newport and they were pretty good...for a duo!
You mean a secret trio.
 4.
I'm Spartacus, and so's my wife!
My average size sexy bulb is called Spartacus.
 5.
I thought they were terrible before any of you lot did.
No, I'm Spartacus
 6.
One time a guy mailed me asking if he can come by and look at something I was selling - no confo he'd buy, just wanted to eyeball the merchandise. I said fine, when do you want to do it? No reply. A week goes by, the guy mails me back saying can he swing by the following weekend? Too late, says I. Gone Says he: 'I'm really disappointed by your actions which are incredibly unfair and my girlfriend agrees with me'. So I told him not to be a big f*cking cry-baby and to f*ck off and die and that's why I had to open a new Gumtree account.
Exept, I did not die. And I have you're gumtree name. So now I will going to put something for sale you rely rely want (probably my stupid girlfriend) and when you say you want to look at it, I will tell you it sold it, and that you are a silly silly bolocks and to f*** and die. No timwaster will be tolerateded.
 7.
I have to say in my own defence that the guy hadn't given me a 100% yes as to buying it,no one seems to have read that part. I would happily wait a day or two for payment but I would expect a confirmation of buying pretty quick especially when I have other buyers waiting, this is what I didn't get,my post isn't about payment. I didn't really explain this very well in my post, sorry,I have now edited it. ta
It's all about clear comms. You hadn't said this in your OP. Maybe your comms weren't that cool.
 8.
I had a newbie, before Christmas, ask me to hold my Bleached Blonde Thumb for him. He was away on hol for a week. Two days after I knew him to be back, I saw him pm Kev, and buy Kev's Dirty Blonde Thumb. Not a word to me. So I pm'd him the next day and he admitted to it. So 11 days on hold and the twat did not have the courtesy to pm me and say he'd bought something else. Since then, only the chosen few will get an "on hold".
Sorry but I'd have given the f***er a very sharp verbal slap for that. Completely unacceptable and damned inconsiderate.
 9.
I would not get upset at 3.5 hours. He might have read it and been on the way out to work or something. Couple of days- certainly. But not less than a day.
3.5 hours is simply impatience. The OP should get a grip.
 10.
I don't think this is a daft question - it opens a real can of worms regarding the precise definition of active and passive elements of an electrical system. From what I understand, most active basses are passive pickups with an active on-board preamp. A lot of EMG's are low impedence pickups - which from what I gather generally need battery power to produce a usable signal and are so considered active. From what I gather given how we generally record and listen to bass (compressed, EQ'd, and processed by either a pedal board, amp preamp, speaker cabinet, or recording equipment) the difference between active and passive isn't that critical - if it sounds great, it is great!
Also, most preamps work with active pups, there aren't that many active pups around. I'm putting an EMG MM5TW with the EMG BQS Control pre in my Stingray 5 soon. Had loads of active basses but this is my first with active pups. Not sure what the advantages of active pups is to be honest. But I heard a Stingray that sounded ace with EMGs, hence the decision.
 11.
Sure it's interesting but I don't just accept stuff, I like to investigate and come to my own conclusions. Ask your tutor where he got that number from, because if it's any of that stuff I linked to it is nonsense. You don't even have to use common sense if you are lacking in that, just do the maths (literally in this case). It doesn't add up. Picking a different centre frequency does make your music sound different, but it won't make it more harmonious with the universe or the water in your body. These people seem to conveniently forget that we use a compromised equal temperament system. So your start frequency gets divided in some nasty ways. You'd need some system based on pure fractions to maintain the 'purity' of that number (if there was such a thing). Additionally, using any kind of fretted system (excluding compensated frets) like guitars and bass you're using a further compromise of the already compromised equal tempered system.
Ahh the Beatles would have sounded SO much nicer had they been of equal temperament.
 12.
That's a bit risque!! Are you offering to help?!
The blow up sex cat is more suited to the task. Otherwise I could get my box grater out and do it for him/her/it.
 13.
I got told by an engineer at T in the Park they use a secret hidden offstage guitarist. Soured it for me. Unfortunately their 15 minutes of fame are ticking by. One trick sound which is suited to singles or support slots. Watching them play headline shows is a boring experience due to how one dimensional it is.
As much as I find them bloody dull, I think that sound engineer is spreading malicious gossip and is guilty of a complete lack of professionalism. Of course, he may be right. But even if he was, he still has a gob the size of the Nile Delta telling 'the secret' to some random joe bollocks (no disrespect) and needs relieving of his seed.
 14.
It's on an amp. When I had a graphic EQ I always had a bump at the low Mids, I found the bass cuts through without losing the bottom end or sounding muffled.
Mac, you need to find out what the freq band is on your amp's mid control. What's the amp?
 15.
[s]Further[/s] Führer, 440Hz is cited as 'impure' and leading the stressful feelings and the Nazis pushed for its standardisation, no doubt to upset everyone and win the war.
fixed
 16. Tell you what, their management team must be f***ing AMAZING!
 17.
Is it possible to boost my low mids, with a 3 band EQ - bass; mid; treble?
On a preamp, or an amp? Is this question one that I should assume you are being positive? What was the question again?
 18.
Yes, it's just a single pickup in the 'sweet spot'. It's was all easy to fit. You need to read the destructions carefully and dry run it out of the instrument, but no soldering or faffing around....
Thank you!
 19. Tiny bit of carrier bag plastic around the screw. Stretch it around the grub screw and it acts like plumber's tape but much much thinner.
 20. TC Electronic Ditto Looper It's a great little looper. £50 + £5 Postage. I have a Stagg 9v PSU that I bought for it at the same time. If you need it, add a fiver to the total and I'll sling it in the box for you.
 21. Congratulations! Mate of mine goes every year, I've never been, but it looks like a really nice festival.
