Right I'm definitely getting a terror.. the MB rocker wasn't that gritty.. it just means, I can just carry one amp and no pedals (bar my tuner)
Good choice TBH. If I didnt have the AD200b I would DEFINITELY get one. I have the guitar Dual Terror and despite the fact its a fair bit heavier than the Bass Terror, its VERY good!

Do valve pre-amps on hybrid amps (eg, Shuttle) blow often/at all?
Musicman20 replied to Clarky's topic in Amps and Cabs
I doubt it would ever go. My old Trace had one and I never changed it for 10 years plus. I doubt it needs it now to be honest. I would definitely audition a Shuttle before taking the plunge; light/loud/crisp/hifi is my experience. Good at what they do but IMO not a rockers amp unless you like it pretty bright and snappy. SWR/TC Classic might be better. -
Anyone have any experience of the Markbass Rocker? What's the difference from the LM Tube (apart from £100)? Could it be as good as the Orange but a bit more flexible? /dreams/
Rocker video (in German but the sound from the amp is GREAT!) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6iqwo828es The LMTube doesnt sound like it has a tube IMO, although it does add a subtle difference to the tone. The Rocker is exactly the same as a LM3 with the 'distortion' option. The LMTube has a few other additions but if I were you, and you want grit, get the LM3 plus a brilliant pedal OR the LMRocker.

Is the Mike Lull TBird comfortable?
hi mate black with silver grill. Fancy a swap for your orange gear?
Oh heck I cant bear to part with the Orange, although I bet that Aguilar rig is FANTASTIC. If I were closer, id come and test the DB410, as I imagine sending would be ridiculous. Cheers
I'm leaning towards that opinion.. does anyone know much about the.. I like where I can have warmth or grit.. Anyone know about the Mark Tube???
Mark Tube Amp gives you ZERO grit, it just changes the sound and feel of the notes a TINY bit. The other option is a Mark Bass Little Mark Rocker....that has some nice grit.
Just buy the Terror Bass head... less than £500, 2x 12AX7'S in the preamp, same controls as the AD200 . Simple!
+1 The MB might have the warmth but no grit, and the GB IMO is very bright and almost hifi. The tube grind from the pre in the Shuttle isnt that gritty at all. Bass Terror is your friend. Loud/light/warm/gritty when you want it/not expensive considering what it does!
Best production j bass I have experience of is the 75RI. Very well built with a lot of cojones. I have the maple board but I'm sure the rosewood would be lovely too. The 75RI utterly outclasses every American Standard I have played. It's really good... N
Ah, they are great looking basses, but I just prefer normal 60s pickup spacing. -
I am still yet to play a bass better than my Sandberg California JJ.
I do like the style of Sandbergs, but im concerned they wont sound 'vintage J' enough for me, as they tend to be quite modern. -
For me this is the king of Jazzes http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=94548
Tis lovely. If it was the rosewood version Id be going to check it out, definitely. I just fancied a different board on this un. Still a toss up between American Standard and Roadworn....both basically the same price new except the RW has a soft gig bag. -
Did you try the Aerodyne. Not exactly what you are looking for I suppose but its the only Fender I know of with the same neck specs as the Roadworn jazz. Great bass for longer gigs. I've heard they do a sunburst model but I've yet to see one.
Hi Thanks, but unfortunately im not into the style of the Aerodyne. Sunburst would be great though! It now seems I might be being predictable and just getting another American Series Jazz unless something else comes up. Once I get a proper case for the Roadworn its the same price as the American Standard and yep that includes the Sunburst version! Im going to give it some thought. -
My NEO 210 finally turned up - Polar Audio flew it in from the US after I ordered it in the middle of March! I actually ordered the cabs at the same time so it's a shame the badges don't match (there was a delay of about a month between delivery). I'll have to see if I can get a spare badge. If anyone wants to hear her, she'll be making her public debut on Thursday night at the Water Rats with my band (http://www.myspace.com/earthhoursofficial) Cheers, Doug
Contact GK and they will ship another badge. Ive seen this sorted out over on Talkbass before as well. Seem like good guys to deal with.

I dont really like Gibson basses at all, but some of their guitars are fantastic (although far too expensive for their recent poor QC). I tried a T'Bird and I just couldnt get comfortable. Just personal preference I guess.
yeah that was the problem, i felt at times i lost quite alot of bottom end although I didnt lose volume which was strange. and the glassy sound was very prominent. It really is just a different bass to what im used to. I just assumed with that big MM humbucker I would get a loud gruff distorted sound. The main thing thats throwing me is the mid eq, back to the drawingboard with my sound I guess, however the playability is wicked and once I learn where to anchor my thumb I will be laughing
That EQ is VERY powerful IMO. you can go from big fat warm pumping bass to aggressive pick punk. The Humbucker is not there to give you a distorted gruff tone, more like a very powerful punchy tone which cuts through a mix. Personally I love it.

The thing is, I really want the Fender tone and style but not a Fender, purely as yet another Fender for me is a little predictable. Then again, maybe its worth sticking to what I like. The RW Jazz is still looming in my mind. -
Well again I had a look to try and compare these, and the Lakland neck pocket was inexcusable. Bit of a shame but its put me off going near them again. Ive spoken to Ed Friedland about his RW Jazz and he loves it especially for the price. Hmmmm....
