So, just to clarify, it is an analog compressor, controlled digitally?

About 230 I think, that’s dollars, not sure what conversion to sterling
That is relatively cheap for them!

The D-800+ was £899 at Andertons for a few hours, then I think they realised it was the wrong price!

You're pushing the strings into the fret board. You don't have to press down that hard on the string to make the notes.
I'm not sure that is what has happened here! Also, I imagine if he owns this bass he will know how to fret a note....

£900 is really cheap for an all tube bass head like that.....

Sad news RIP.

I still think the Genz Benz 2x12 is the best vertical neo 2x12 when you consider the price and weight.

Stingray HH.

£650? Yeah I'd want it to be almost perfect....if it is bothering you, get it changed.
-
I had an Orange AD200b which I loved the tone of, but it was sitting there unused and I just don't have the gigs for something of that calibre at this time of my life...maybe when I'm less busy I'll get another.
Anyway, this is perfectly small, light-ish, and low volume.
I don't need one as I'm hoping to be playing more guitar in the near future despite bass being number 1, but I am sure tempted.

What do they sound like? The online demos are ALL with Stingrays with the treble cranked, which I like but it needs to be with other basses as well!
-
Looking forward to a review of these when they arrive!

Great prices! Hmmmm

I still think the Stingray is the best bass guitar design. This hasn't changed since I first heard the tone and saw the body shape when I was a young teenager.
They can be very aggressive and cut through no matter what the other instruments are doing. But put flats on it and drop the treble and its an old thump machine.

Slightly off topic and with no G strings involved
I spoke to Strings & Things (UK MusicMan distributor) recently and they said that if I register my Old Smoothie online for warantee I’ll get an extra few months and free gift in the post.
The free gift turned out to be a nice tool kit worth about £46 (eek!). Nice touch, very impressed, big thanks to the Gentlemen at S&T 👍
I got one of these recently for buying the guitar version of the Stingray in HH....and it is a beautiful offset rock machine!

The thing is, another luthier's take on a Stingray will not be a Stingray. Like the Sandberg basic - it doesn't sound like a Ray, or look like one.
The prices are very high right now....I'm not sure how many bassists can spend £2000+ on a Stingray. I'd love one of the new Special models, but I can't spend that amount without thinking I should be more sensible and put it towards something else in life.
My Stingray Classic 5 was £1600 approx. new, in Natural, and it has amazing figuring on the neck. I'd say for me, it is the PERFECT bass guitar overall. Now, I imagine you have to pay a lot more for one of those.....not just a few hundred.

Fwiw I talked PMT down to £1300 for the rack, the control and a few assorted cables. Is it higher than even that now?
It's about £1400 or more for both of those at the mo.
Standard floor is £1199
HX effects is ONLY £434! Which seems very cheap. So I might just try that as it's much smaller.

I'm not normally a sunburst fan, but the tobacco burst with the roasted maple 'board looks lovely.
Are they a permanent addition to the line?
You know what, I'm really not sure. I presume so, for the foreseeable. You can no longer order a normal Stingray....the standard Stingray option brings up the Classics/Neck Throughs etc.

Yeah the prices were lower when I started looking compared to when I bought mine. Shame.
I think it may be related to the fact the Line 6 have repeatedly (and rather believably) said that they have no plans to replace the Helix hardware for quite some time. Fractal have a new model out every 5 minutes, Line 6 and Kemper seem content for the moment.
Makes sense! There was a period when it went from £1050 - £1399 in a few days, then up, then down, etc.
I'll wait....

Looks like the ditched a lot of rosewood options, which is understandable, and went for ebony.

I bet they are over £2k for a 4 string H once they arrive in the UK....
-
I sold mine in October 2017, but I'm seriously tempted to dive back in. However, the prices have gone up, which makes no sense.....
I paid about £980 for a full fat Helix and they are now £1199.
As soon as they level out again I might have another go, but for now I'll wait to see what the next development is on the market.

What prices are we looking at?

Reasonable price!

This. How was it packed? An instrument like that should be double boxed in a hardcase....no doubt.
