  1. Just correcting your correction ๐Ÿ˜
  2. 1kg = 2.2lbs 1" = 2.54cm 1 mile = 1.61km Oh and the Babylonians also invented a great system based on 6 rather than 10...check your watch some time. 12 hours in a waking day and the same again for night, a bit like 12" in a foot? Now why would anyone divide something by 12 instead of 10? As for 7 days in a week and months being a random 28 to 31 days in length...and, God forbid, that you might wander into your local and ask for a "pint"?! That's what I am speaking of. ๐Ÿ˜„
  3. Phil some excellent observations (as usual!). I do wonder whether in a band max the MB instead of sounding as though it had a "fuller bass" it would have felt like the cab had "a blanket over it" and was much less articulate than Fearless/BF/Berg/VK etc.
  4. Fridges still live on: now that's surely food for thought! ๐Ÿ˜
  5. I agree with @Doddy that glitching at the low end of the scale is a feature of many octave pedals. Apologies if this is off topic - but if you want excellent low tracking with minimal latency, great value, a pedal which totally nails the OC-2 sound as well as offering a decent octave up, then look no further than the Boss OC-5. The OP mentions polyphonic mode and the tracking is particularly tight with the OC-5 set to poly mode.
  6. Cheers Andy - thanks for the offer of holding on to it for me. Appreciated! That could be a really good workaround if he's willing to drop it off; and the Walshy man with van is also another decent option. I'll probably "live" with the chrome machinehead before replacing the lot with some ultralites. I know that's sacrilege - but it will shave the best part of 1lb in weight I suspect, and I could get maybe the head refi'd at the same time to sort out that unsightly chip. I'm also trying to track down a decent local London luthier who won't charge the earth...
  7. What work needs doing, Andy? He wants a quick sale, hence his pricing and not keen to hold onto it for me. We've agreed to speak next month if it hasn't shifted.
  8. Cheers Andy, a PJ neck-through 5er with 24 frets at sub ยฃ700. Yup!! I've messaged him - just need to work out how to collect the thing! Bit of a trek up to Liverpool from the Old Smoke. My daughter is up at Manchester uni, but term is not starting for a little while but I could potentially coordinate with a trip up to see her in the autumn if he's prepared to hold on to it for me.
  9. Another +1 for Barefaced. I was very pleasantly gobsmacked how much better the lateral dispersion from my BF SC was compared to the very decent MB 112 I had been using beforehand.
  10. Did you mention it was "probably" a tiny bit lighter too? ๐Ÿ˜
  11. Andy - agree it's a stunning bass, was waiting for that key piece of information from Steve. If I was a younger version of myself, I would be queuing up to get this, but sadly above my weight limit these days. Steve - GLWTS
  12. I think the OP had presets as a key requirement. If we're allowed to include fun, easy to use synth pedals without full presets, then worth also mentioning the Boss SY-1 which has: - a LOT of different sounds: 121 basic presets which can be individually tweaked with its twin filters; - the ability to sustain a bass synth while playing your bass line over it; - an arpeggiator that can be speed adjusted with an expression pedal as well with a dial; and - the best tracking of any pedal I've come across! The key minus for me is that it doesn't do classic 80s synth sounds.
  13. NIce job! Looking forward to hearing what you think of the reverse P sound.
  14. It varies, depending on the venue, the space available and what works. I'm actually mostly on the same side as Newfoundfreedom even with JBC, but at Boxpark and the time we did our Showreel at Century I was on the other side and I agree that will be video you're going to be most familiar with. I think maybe set up a video feed of the kick drum pedal, but make sure you have something that doesn't have too much latency...๐Ÿ˜
  15. Funny you say that Dave about where the bass player stands. I'm always on the same side as Newfoundfreedom - that's partly 'cos in the pubs we've played it's meant that my rig doesn't need to be pointed across the drums which causes sympathetic unwanted vibrations of the drum kit. Just a little tip for you when you start playing at our local pub ๐Ÿ˜‰
  16. Pulling you onto our patch ideas thread if I may - if you've got a tweaked version of the synth patch that you're using that you'd be up for sharing (e.g. as a ToneLib file), that would be marvellous!
  17. Really liked the groove on that first track! Got a touch of The Doors about it (that's a big compliment from me btw). And good to hear the Bugera Veyron delivering a meaty sound. What bass are you sporting?
  18. Zoom B1-4: Z-Synth patch is as good as anything I was getting on Helix and I'm using it on my live set. The Zoom has a host of other multifx and built-in tuner, very decent drum machine and headphone amp and a basic looper for good measure. Will set you back around ยฃ65 new, so you won't beat it on value. But if you want more high-end with presets, then I agree with Woody, FI would get my vote. There's a lot of love for the SA C4 on BC too, but it's not my personal cup of tea (lack of decent on-pedal UI / needing additional hardware to make the most of it => quite a high all-in cost etc).
  19. My local bass tec has disappeared from the Hackney to Jersey, so defo not as convenient for me anymore... Came across the following: Guitar Hospital 253 Rotherhithe St, London SE16 5FX The Walking Bass 54 Glenhouse Rd, London SE9 1JQ Graham Parker Luthier Lewisham, London, SE13 Dunno if any of you London BC'ers have used any of the above or could recommend someone not too far from E3? @Reggaebass - do you have someone local that you use for more than a basic set up e.g. replacing a preamp?
  20. If you're buying new from Thomann, you'll be paying exactly the same Customs and VAT as you had to pre-Brexit, so no drama. (Very different if you are buying used goods UK <--> EU now, where we do have VAT on imports in both directions that we didn't have before). Vaccines are a good thing ๐Ÿ˜‰
  21. Went to a Prom at the Albert Hall with my 21 y/o last night, lovely night out. Maybe all the more special as it was the first such outing in 18 months. Everyone was asked to show either a negative lateral flow test or a vaccination card before entry; didn't seem too onerous. Coming back to not getting sacked for smoking in a public place: actually on reflection I don't think you're correct - I suspect that if someone was found smoking in the work canteen their first offence would be a yellow card from HR and a second would be a swift red card, so yes they could likely lose their jobs over it. Having said all that, I'm very much with you on the general principle of personal liberties i.e. massively pro defending them, where they do not cause harm to others - that is the key balance; my beef is primarily with anti-vax propaganda leading to too many entirely unnecessary deaths.
  22. @Alan Wilkes - you may also be interested in this thread, which I think was one of the most comprehensive on this pedal.
  23. Good post @Cuzzie, thank you. Couple of points: The only reason for illustrating with people seeking to ban the N-word is that it's another example of society not accepting anti-social behaviour which can cause hurt i.e. of society restricting "liberties" for the greater good. But let's drop that if it's not a pertinent example and stick with the bans on smoking and not wearing seat belts as more on point comparisons. I do entirely agree with this from Count Bassy: You make some good points in your post to counter. However when you say: There's a very simple reason for this isn't there? Going into a public space just once and infecting others with Covid can directly result in many deaths. That is way more serious than smoking just once in a public place or arriving somewhere not having worn a seatbelt.
  24. Glad it went so well at the wedding! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
  25. Ah cool! Yes I think you did mention you were playing at your daughter's wedding a few posts back - no pressure then! ๐Ÿ˜
