  1. @oldslapper - what a great pic!! Maybe time to update your Avatar with that one? And you sing as well - bloody marvellous!
  2. @M@23 love the simplicity of your set up Mark! And I see another vote in favour of HB boards and their IsoBricks - they really are great value! How many different fx do you have set up on your Stomp that you are regularly using?
  3. Ibanez do a superb compromise with their SR Portamento fretless: lined side markers but unlined on the face of the fretboard. Best of both worlds - playable kudos! 😊 Oh...and the bass is not too shabby either.
  4. @ped...looks very neat! Now can you PLEASE turn your Stormy pedal the right way up? 😁
  5. Yup absolutely! Set the dirt to Darkglass B7K or Xotic BB and off you go...😉
  6. Damn that's lovely! Whoever this is going to is in for an absolute treat!
  7. As "rising stars" it would be churlish not to give due weight to both your views on this, but perhaps less so than from a mentor: It is, however, entirely appropriate to ignore anything I spout, being a knackered old veteran from many failed compressor campaigns...😂
  8. Ciocks are great. If you want something equally compact with similar output but at half the price check out the HB Iso Pro range. I have an Iso Pro5 and 12 powering my two boards.
  9. While we're waiting for the nano PB to hit the UK market, something comparably loud with very decent bass, even more compact and with multifx, tuner, drums, aux-in and looper all included can be got from this Megaboom micro rig...batteries definitely an option too! 😀
  10. Yeah, know what you mean...just like when buying a Rolls Royce you end up getting a BMW these days. Or a Helix Stomp is just another Yamaha product.
  11. Some seriously nice pedals on your mini board! I see you have a Proton Mk 4, it's a great envelope filter. For the size, IMO, very possibly the best analogue filter currently available.
  12. Hi Alain - I've not had either combo you're looking at although I've had a couple of the larger MB combos, but I was interested in your query - the Vox does look neat! And I have to confess having a soft spot for Vox as my very first amp, which was both very loud and incredibly heavy, was a Vox AC30 in the days when I pretended to be a rock guitarist. I've not found too much discussion / direct comparison, but this short thread had a few posts: Markbass Micromark 801 vs Vox VX50-BA | TalkBass.com
  13. Lively covers bands wanted for East London paid gigs. If this first gig goes well then there is likely to be an opportunity for a residency with 6 to 8 gigs PA. The following regular (2 x 1 hour) slots are available: Thu 2 piece - start 8.30pm end 11pm Fri 2/3 piece - 8.30/9pm end 11/11.30pm Sat 3/4 piece - 9pm to 11.30pm Fees......2 piece £220 Fees......3 piece £300 Fees......4 piece £350 You will need to provide PA & backline. Please tell me about relevant gigging experience, whereabouts you are based and a YT clip(s) of live performance and/or showreel.
  14. Yes, clearly!! Haha! I suspect it's why ped reintroduced this feature (which we had an even more detailed version of before the last system upgrade a few years back), as he's worried about the mis-spent middle-age-dom of so many potential Jamersons who have turned down the possibility of fretboard mastery for keyboard mastery. 😁 Although, if we do the math, my total only works out at an average of less than 1 post a day on here since the thread was started. But if you want to see what a truly mis-spent middle age looks like then look no further than: I guess I've now had my quota on here for the day...🙂
  15. Ok, so we now know that the top 4 culprits (amongst many!) who have kept this thread very alive and kicking over the past 4 years have been...😁 TOP POSTERS IN THIS TOPIC 259 942 351 1330
  16. Love to get a second opinion on the Octava, if you do. I currently feel like a lone voice shouting at the void on that one 😁
  17. Very interesting - thanks for sharing that! I guess that explains why I had multiple enquiries yesterday with an eBay buyer buying the unit outright without even trying to haggle! I totally agree low-end suck is a real downside to bass distortions, particularly RAT based circuits and our band mates do want us to underpin the low-end, it's what we're there for! I'm sticking by the Pigtronix Octava as being a really good alternative to the Ripper though. It's seen off several bass drive units including the excellent Damnation Audio MBD-2. Obviously in terms of influence Royal Blood vs Al Krow, there's only ever going to be one outcome... 🤣🤣 🤣
  18. You still taking bets? 😁
  19. Not sure that the 2 or 2.67 ohms options are ones that many punters in TE's price bracket will be looking to make use of? There will of course be some (e.g. with two 4 ohm cabs), but I'm guessing for most of us a 4 or 8ohm load is what we're dealing with. But the TE 1200 putting 600W through a BF SC or, in my case, a BF BB2 or Fearless F112 means that those rigs can now give you a fantastic compact rig solution with all the headroom you are likely to ever need in situations where there is no FOH or PA support. Colour me very interested! Anyone have any ideas on price point? If it's Peavey gear I would be expecting it to be pretty competitive (i.e. not at the Bergantino / Mesa end of the scale).
  20. He's at least confirmed that it's 1200W into 4 ohms (and not 2 ohms). That is MONSTER!!! This could very easily become the new reggae bass poster child!
  21. Hey buddy - this literally just sold half an hour ago on fleaBay for the asking price. They are a great bit of kit and a few of my BC buddies will be able to confirm that I've been dithering about whether to sell it or not! Depending on the sound you're after I can also heartily recommend checking out a Pigtronix Octava - which plays really nicely with other pedals as well as having a great core tone.
  22. I do love the fact that Yamaha have laminate neck construction even in their (fantastic) work horse bases.
  23. Yup that Gotoh bridge definitely adds something. No question! Looking like it could become "the standard" for bridge upgrades on 424s. Btw - I thought you were a die hard 414 fan, have you switched allegiance to the the 2s?
  24. It would be: You're going to absolutely love bass, so don't leave it till your late 40s before you start playing; A Yammy BB will be just as good as a swanky Sandberg; Buy quality used from folk you can trust on BC and you won't lose a fortune when you come to sell; Those same lovely folk on BC will, however, give you GAS so you'll end up buying a ton of kit you don't really need. But as it won't cost you much more than postage to move it on, you'll have a lot of fun along the way; Avoid compressor threads. Oh and wot @Osiris said...apart from the bit about short scale and the bit about opium as that's never really been my scene 😁
  25. Absolutely NOT too negative and thanks for sharing. Facts are facts.
