Yeah agree - some pedals just don't grab our imaginations, for sure. Obviously differs with each of us as to precisely which pedal, but I can certainly relate to one of our fellow synth pedal lovers admitting he's not found the inclination to touch his C4 since getting it several months ago, whilst loving his new fretless bass. I've had a similar experience with my FI's since getting my first one 18 months ago. Not really touched them - but have loved the new basses I've been fortunate to get my hands on. Maybe it's time to face the reality of my lack of enthusiasm and get my most recent Panda FI replacement moved on. I guess it reminds me that we're first and foremost bass players and then somewhere down the list, computer editing boffins!

Excellent! When's it due?

Basses seem to be our collective downfall, don't they? I've just had a narrow escape...bass I had my eye on had < 16.5mm string spacing. Phew, still on the GAW. Other than GK amps ( of course), apparently very hard to resist. Once you've got one, you're bound to get 3 or 4 from what I can tell. ...or pedals that duplicate stuff that an HX Effects does really well, for the particularly weak willed. Still 33 days in, and provided my cheeky offer doesn't get accepted on eBay for a piece of kit I've been thinking about getting on and off for a couple of years, I should be good to go for another day or two 😁

Wot, u saying the Berg is boring?! 😁

Will you be playing heavy rock with a full band and a decently loud drummer, Adam? If so, you'll probably need a pair of One10s volume wise, rather than just the one, and at that point in terms of price / convenience you may also want to consider a BF Super Compact as an alternative to two One10s. FWIW my gigging rig is the DG AO900 with a BF Super Compact and I play in a covers band with the usual rock numbers as part of our sets. Also works well, and happy to recommend.

I'll defo try to do that. Know anyone with a decent time machine? 😁
-
Nice rig @scalpy. BUT an Aggie db112 = £882 (PMT) and a MB 121H is £394 (dV247) Nuff said? 😉
-
Well I have no idea what the abbreviations stand for, but I'm sure that's a great rig. 😁
-
Wot no pic of the new rig?!

Please tell me why I should avoid getting a Rickenbacker!

Just going to leave this here: https://www.andertons.co.uk/january-sale-bass-guitars/rickenbacker-4003s-bass-guitar-in-matte-black As long as HJ doesn't speak to young Silvie it should still be here when I get back 😁 -
A lot of folk crave a more vintage sound and will set their EQ with the treble rolled of to deliver, particularly on Motown stuff. Other folk can't stand the fizz of some otherwise really good drive pedals. Well here's the thing: a classic MB cab will naturally deliver that vintage tone and pair really well with drive pedals you might otherwise want to avoid, by cutting the high end fizz.
-
Great stuff. MB cabs sometimes gets criticised on BC for being a bit muddier compared to some of the more expensive 'higher end' cabs. But frankly there are a ton of very good live bass players who don't find MB gear the least bit limiting and sound great through it! It's quality, reliable gear.

Was he also using a Markbass cab?

Ah Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow! A band most of my band mates have never heard of, but was my first proper gig as a 17 year old! Do let us when you boys are playing live in the vicinity of the Big Smoke - be great to get along to see you. Always loved your bass tone on the clips you've shared, Lozz, you still going to be using your Paradriver?
-
Yup 20 out of 24 still in the game and still on the 2020 GAW!!

*SOLD* ACG Harlot 5 Rare Thru *Minty* £1500
Al Krow replied to Ashwood1985's topic in Basses For Sale
That does look in superb condition for a 9 year old bass! A few Qs if I may: What's the string spacing and the weight of the bass? Do the lights get through the batteries very quickly and is there an on / off switch for the lights? Is there an active by-pass option to allow you to play the bass in passive mode, in case the batteries go mid gig? -
I'd love to AB the new Fusion S head (£1,139 Kytary) against a Bugera Veyron 1001T (£197 on at Amazon today) Both have valve preamps / hybrid set ups. Just wondering what extra the Fusion S is going to be delivering - would I effectively be paying an extra £440 for a not too shabby drive unit and £500 for a GK badge?

Thanks Paul. "Deeper and smoother" ticks a lot of boxes for me. Sounds like I should be sticking with my SR1825 (or getting your 1805 in trade!). Although I've got a sneaky suspicion your 1805 may be sticking around
-
The swap idea was partly to put you in possession of a newer model which should theoretically fetch more, but there's probably little in it. What I'm really interested to hear is how the Aguilar pups compare with the much loved Nord big singles?
-
Interesting. What's the power rating of those two amps at 4 ohms? The Ant delivers 196W.

There are a couple in the FS right now, and best price new on eBay is £40 posted: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Valeton-LOFT-SERIES-Analog-Octave-Factory-Direct-Quality-Control-OC-10/123891475608?hash=item1cd881e498:g:gT4AAOSwGF9dW1bf

^^ this! Very very realistic sounding clone at a great price (review with sound clips posted in the pedal reviews section). Nothing else gets close for the money. It was too small for the OP. But for most folks that will be a plus rather than a negative.

If Woody spots a 5er in Walnut for <£2k, I suspect I won't be holding out for too long either! -
Congrats on the new Ibby, Paul! Was that the one in the FS? Looked to be on for a very good price. Must admit I'm tempted to offer you a straight swap for my newer 1825, which should in theory be worth more, as I prefer the finish on your 1805! Please PM me if that doesn't sound too much of a faff!
